Eliot had stated in speeches that the elements of a liberal education could be obtained by spending 15 minutes a day reading from a collection of books that could fit on a five-foot shelf. (Originally he had said a three-foot shelf.) The publisher P. F. Collier and Son saw an opportunity and challenged Eliot to make good on this statement by selecting an appropriate collection of works, and the Harvard Classics was the result.

Bump for interest

Does it include "My Diary, Desu" by Anonymous?

I have a couple of the books and the translations are shit. The Meditations has a bunch of thees and thous, it reads like the King James bible. I can't even imagine what the more difficult texts like the Divine Comedy read like but I'm sure it's not the sort of thing you recommend for a first time reader. You're better off just getting individual books.

>who is burns?

>the translations are shit
>it reads like the King James Bible
Pick one

My top priority in reading anything is to understand it, and that's how I measure translations. If your goal is to understand the text, the King James is a shitty translation of the bible. I think it's prime reason protestants believe in so much silly shit.

good GOD this is some psued shit.

this better be a shitpost.

Im sorry lemme go pay for fucking forgiveness and oh shit I must be behind in my monthly child rape scandal quota
