Amerifag here. I keep hearing claims of red turning blue and vice versa. Are there any records or books that debunks/proves this? Both sides, to this day, fling shit at each other on this issue with no avail.
>inb4 read history book faggot I will in time but I'm looking for the answer at this time
Like two guys in the KKK became republicans and then lyndon johnson did what he said.
Colton Thomas
Look up "southern strategy
Eli Wright
Just review the congressional rosters. If there were a switch then it would be prima facie. There was no switch (of any significant numbers) - only a claim of such. The fact that this myth is so heavily pumped is likely telling that the mythology is cover for something else. Much of the American story is propped on similar lies.
Josiah Watson
There was some party flipping. The main claim comes from southern democrats flipping in national elections after lbj shoved through civil rights. Look up dixiecrats and Strom Thurmond
Nixon's southern strategy with promises of law and order (along with Wallace running) helped him flip the south
As for high ranking members of the party, some politicians flipped. But not in huge numbers. And the South still voted Democrat at the local level for a long time
Essentially the dems moved left, and the republicans were able to add a new wing to their party which helped them dominate the second half of the 20th century presidency wise
John Cook
Both are right-wing parties. Who cares
Dominic Smith
this is correct
Julian Bailey
it's just a meme. republicucks and democucks are literally the same party and always have been since the 19th century.
Brayden Cooper
Stop with this reductionist meme, I know you commies consider anyone right of Stalin to be capitalist scum, but regardless if both are right-wing, not both have the same platform policy wise, perhaps you don't think climate denial is a big deal, but at the very least it isnt an issue both sides agree on, same could be said about a lot of things
Christopher Brown
They are both liberal parties.
Jordan Adams
OP here I agree with this. it's too easy to say 'they're the same thing who cares'. the parties obviously have large differences i'm looking for some evidence and not deflections
Why don't you ask /pol/? All you'll get here are People's History-tier shitposts from champagne socialist larpers. Do you think the fags on this board read American history?
Nathan Anderson
The Democratic Party and the Republican Party were just like the old patent medicine drummer that used to come around our country. He had two bottles of medicine. He'd play a banjo and he'd sell two bottles of medicine. One of those bottles of medicine was called High Popalorum and another one of those bottles of medicine was called Low Popahirum. Finally somebody around there said is there any difference in these bottles of medicines? 'Oh,' he said, 'considerable. They're both good but they're different,' He said that High Popalorum is made from the bark off the tree that we take from the top down. And that Low Popahirum is made from the bark that we take from the root up.' And the only difference that I have found between the Democratic leadership and the Republican leadership was that one of 'em was skinning you from the ankle up and the other from the ear down.
Economically liberal. Get your terms and definitions straight, burgerfag.
Chase Lee
>I agree with this. it's too easy to say 'they're the same thing who cares'. the parties obviously have large differences One's a bit more to the right than the other but both are sellouts. There, saved you lots of time, burger.
Logan Walker
This is correct but /pol/ is satire and all i'll get is satirical answers, with a 'nigger' here and there. this is the lesser of 2 evils that's one way to put it. in my mind they're all crooked and deplorable >saved you lots of time, burger Burger is pleased and i agree they are sellouts
Ian Thomas
why don't you ask the politics board you shiteater? I'm sure there are some working class mutts who are switching sides after they realized they were duped and had their health care taken away and their taxes increased for the sake of the rich/Israel but mutts are also partisan mongoloids so it's probably not significant
Zachary Young
>why don't you ask the politics board you shiteater? >Are there any records or books that debunks/proves this? wowee >being on Yea Forums but not able to comprehensively read
>not both have the same platform policy wise what do you mean?
Levi Wilson
they are both parties of big business. the only difference between them is who their corporate masters are. its superficial. dems like to brand themselves as the party of workers but thats basically dead nowadays. we need a real workers party that will be true opposition to the parties but that wont happen soon.
Oliver Howard
Nah even nu-/pol/ will probably unironically give you much better answers for this. Try it.
Brandon Gomez
will do ty user
Luis Brooks
>Red/Blue There's a North, Yankee party and a South party. The rest of the country has to pick between the two. The names don't matter that much.
Christopher Sanchez
/pol/ is filled with race goblins, it's a waste of time
