Ok I'm back and I just watched his video. Whoever said he claimed 10,000 deaths was wrong, he is citing the same study I'm familiar with. In 1945 the city reported 25,000 deaths and this recent study started in 2005 and concluded in 2010 confirmed that number. Between 22-25 thousand.
I dont really see what the big deal is, but he does seem to imply that because it is lower than David Irving's estimation (which was working off Nazi documents that included falsified numbers) then its fine. He defends the people that find it amusing and seems to indirectly support this kind of shitty behavior. So that's pretty disgusting.
He also greatly exaggerates the strategic importance of Dresden in an attempt to justify the bombing and claims the bombing of civilian centers to be nothing more than collateral damage.
A few things here:
Firstly he claims that Irving claimed 300,000 deaths. Which is false. Irving echoed the Nazi report of 202,040 deaths which was widely believed at the time as it was the only known documented number.
They dropped nearly 4,000 tons of explosives on the city and completely flattened it. It was condemned as a terror attack by the public in Britain and even Churchill himself wanted to distance himself from the attack, later deciding to accept it and try to downplay the reality of what they had done.
All the attempts at claiming the "military value" of the city was greater than the civilian cost are pretty dubious, also.
An eyewitness journalist named Alex McKee tried to refute the US military's attempt at justifying the attack. He correctly pointed out that the so called military caps were refugee camps and the major military factories lay outside the city for the very reason that if a bombing were to occur there would be minimal casualties. He also pointed out that almost none of the train stations or major roads were targeted, which is strange if the goal was strategic.

Further, historian A. Beevor wrote that Dresden had survived the bombings so far because it had very little military worth, and that around 300,000 refugees were in the area fleeing from the other cities as the communists made headway into Germany. Most of the major military installations and garrisons were outside the city and many of them were left untouched by the attacks. This either suggests faulty intel or a deliberate terror attack, similar to dropping the bombs on Japan to scare them into a surrender.

As with most things in WW2 the truth isnt in the extremes but somewhere in the middle.

I was attemting to describe the emergence of observable phenomena out of human interaction as it pertains to institutions and the institution of ideas and the feedback thereof. It's very complex and mostly grasped intuitively so I apologize if I can't communicate that but there is a segment of the high IQ population that is just unable to compute reality in this manner and they shouldn't be involved in political analysis as they usually replace the observation of empirical reality with some sort of ideological and obscurantist psychoanalysis.

It was pertinent to the issue. It had something to do with predicting the political evolution of the electorate. So imagine if Israel would be 90% ultra orthodox at some point and this would be wholly ignored in an analysis because the commenter was either unaware that groups behave in different manners or unware of long term trends. Now this isn't purely biological to avoid the controversy but it illustrates the level of pseudery that occured (in the actual conversation he wasn't aware of a 2:1-4:1 birth ratio working against his prediction or the significance thereof as it pertains to the genetic and cultural 'stickiness' of political behaviour). And it's not much to ask of a commenter to at least be somewhat aware of evolution, personality groups and genetic heritability of behavioural traits. They're talking about humans and their behaviour after all, they should be aware of what humans are and how they behave.

I'm talking in a very limited manner about heritability and you don't need formal biological training to read a study in statistical genetics.

I'm describing a process of human interaction that encompasses the decisions of billions of individual actors across time and how their decisions are reformed in the interaction with the resulting reality. This cannot be described in a detailed manner with our tiny ignorant brains, from a materialist view it is the fundamental dividing line between the natural and the social sciences.
