So why exactly did Wanda have to drain America’s powers? If she really wanted to always access the full multiverse for her kids, couldn’t she just have brainwashed America into some kind of Scarlet Familiar?
It would be a lot less effort, less suspicious, and it would be easy considering how easily she did it to Westview and Agatha
Just feels like Wanda took the far harder solution
So why exactly did Wanda have to drain America’s powers...
It's just straight up a big plot hole, the movie even tries to "adress" it with Wong asking her "why she needs to kill America" and she claims that maybe if her kids get sick she will sue the power to find a cure in another universe, as if her OP magic wouldnt be enough to cure anything.
Damn, You really need to turn your brain off to enjoy this movie
>couldn’t she just have brainwashed America into some kind of Scarlet Familiar?
But then you'll put fetish artists out of a job.
Doesn’t have to be like that. Just give her a red jacket with the scarlet witch symbol on the back and maybe a horned headband
That’s enough for an evil costume switch
MCU coper answer:
She learned from the whole Agatha issue that shit might hit the fan and either she lose the mind control or Gonzalez gets killed my someone. Better get that power so she won't need anyone ever.
Chthon manipulation blah blah blah. They shouldn't have turned Wanda into a villain in the first place
Reminder that Wanda can brainwash people within a second but draining America takes several minutes and could potentially damage the power
Wanda is a dumbass for not just turning her into an assistant
Whatever nerd
It was just bad
Wanda's bare feet will keep them employed
But hypnosis is my fetish.
Honestly their interactions had a weird mommydom vibe.
Well too bad because Wanda’s brand of control usually involves suffering
she'd be in the way of what she wants, even chavez kinda reminds her that even if she does get to another universe and does get the kids to love her she will 100% have to live with her choices and actions after everything. Keeping America alive is a loose end and bad little pin in her plans for just living a simple life with 'her boys'
The girl would just be a constant reminder of every bad thing she has done to get her at the end of the rainbow. Plus if she ever broke free from the control she might run which will lead to issues down the line, loose ends are best left closed as quick as possible.
All of the times America was restrained was hot. Then her being a switch made it hotter
I saw it more as Meri being a bit of a scaredy cat and damsel in distress
She regains her confidence when she thinks she can win but crumpled in fear under anything stronger
Just imagining Wanda saying good girl to her is cute.
Would this be better or worse if she was wearing a Scarlet Familiar costume
There’s no way it wasn’t intentional. She’s the only character who got restrained that many times and with tight camera shots to boot.
Even cuter corruption wise
Ok but we gotta decide what the costume looks like abd make sure it’s age appropriate
Like is it a mini Scarlet Witch costume but with some stars and a smaller crown thing? Or is the crown thing swapped out for one that looks like cat ears to fit the familiar theme
Id day its a mini scarlet witch costume with demonic stars on it. Would be cute if Wanda is a new mommy figure to America.
Agreed, that would’ve been cute if she hadn’t tried to kill her again and again
One lost parents the other lost kids. The only issue is that Wanda is an unstable reality warper so we don’t know exactly what her parenting would look like
Id probably imagine some form of her helping America use her powers and teaching her about femininity.
She wanted to have the power readily available at any time with no bullshit middle man needed
America couldn't control her powers. they kept repeating that and you still didn't get it. holy shit user.
plus Wanda just wanted her powers, not a slave.
America's pants were really tight. I couldn't look away.
does this mean America is the first mutant in the MCU?
>it's super obvious that America makes portals when she's scared, she even portals her parents when a bee lands on her
How come Strange never tried training her? Ask her to think of something scary or jump from behind a corner and go "boo!"?
She kinda looks like Mochii Babii
Could be nice and cute. Just gotta make sure Wanda doesn’t flip out and create a pocket reality again
Though America’s Amazon esque origin does make me wonder if Wanda might try to sculpt the two out of clay then use magic to bring them to life
i cannot believe pic related is scarier than raimi latest movie lol
because she was a last minute addition to the movie, one that fucked the entire script and flow of the movie
It really was just kind of dumb. There's supposed to be infinite universes. They couldn't compromise and just toss Wanda into one where Billy and Tommy are real but their Wanda dies? I mean I guess there are incursions... but that's already something Wanda was willing to risk anyway.
Alright let’s assume for a second that Wanda decided the best course of action was to brainwash America into thinking she’s Wanda’s apprentice/daughter. What then? What exactly would that look like
Wanda living her best live in a dimension where she had her kids and America is her friend-sidekick like every sitcom?
>Wanda can't help but show blatant favorism to her actual kids
>America feels ostracized and eventually breaks the mindcontrol
>portal punches Wanda back to 616
He only figured it out near the end, then it skipped to her training at the temple.
Because there was no guarantee Chavez's safety while being Scarlet's mind slave bitch so its better that Wanda just takes the powers and keeps it for herself in case something happens to her boys.
Yeah its shitty writing but what can you do with generic Marvel formulaic storytelling?
>tfw America becomes the Candace to Billy and Tommy’s Phineas and Ferb
>Wanda never cares what her sons are doing and ignores America’s warnings about their shenanigans
if she can warp reality any time why not just make her kids
Being true to the way Wanda is now, any relationship between them would have to be either FemFarouk and FemDavid or FemDavid and Lenny
Either way, Chavez would never want that until she's made to anyways.
it's because they fucked it up trying to make wanda sympathetic and so "a white male doesn't save the day at the end".
The whole movie was full of shit like this
>Dr. Strange stops to talk to America while the monster is still clearly alive
>An entire army of wizards can't touch Wanda but a rotted corpse with ghosts glued on can
>Retirement home Professor Xavier was somehow able to take on Thanos but couldn't escape a red cloud and neck snap
>Wonda slaughters the Illuminati and watches them die but doesn't realize she made an oopsie until her kids make a constipation face
>Wong survives the massacre only to do fuck all
>The ending stinger of the third eye opening is instantly undercut by an ad for another z-list character
>Why not just call an uber instead of owning a car. It's far cheaper and less work
user...stop being poor
Honestly the more I hear of Blackbolt the more I hate him.
>he's super strong
>he can delete anything with his voice
>but he can do more than shout, he can fly and run and do super punches with his vocal energy
>and and and he is trained to never EVER use his voice by accident
He just seems like a snowflake and I'm glad he's dead. Powerlevel spics are the worst part of comics.
Forgot to mention
>America can smash a concrete siding down onto the monster with a single stomp but is amazed later when she can break strong glass
You know, I didn't enjoy the movie very much but I felt like there is a good bit of potential in Wanda's motivation, and using the multiverse setup as a metaphor for unhealthy escapism and the desire to access a timeline where things went right for you.
It would be a decent setup for some artsy science-fiction movie to explore.
>72 multiverses
>no spidermen
She probably just never encountered any of the Spider totems
The real question: Why doesn't she just fuck a guy and get her kids that way?
And the actual question: Why doesn't she go to a universe where her kids are orphans?
Since when does Wanda have the ability to steal people's powers?
Since when did Strange too? Both of them try to steal America's powers.
It’s a dark technique used by a few
Strange is established to have all kinds of kooky situational specific powers and the way we jump into the action in that scene could suggest it's something plot related.
But with Wanda there's no rationale.
The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural
So why does Strange constantly job and when it's finally time for his big moment it is only to give a pep talk?
Since she read the Darkhold. Agatha Harkness tried to steal Wanda's powers with it, and apparently Wanda is now using that same spell herself.
Scarlet Witch still hasn't sliced someone up into cubes yet tho.
She sliced someone into tubes. That's pretty messed up.
That's just kind of what he does, even in the comics.
How is Agatha btw? Is she still a fun best friend sitcom character or did the spell break
Yeah and she didn't even reassemble him afterwards like she usually does when she tetris-ifies someone.
Strange never wins fights with his fist you fucking retard, he constantly has to convince people to kill themselves
And she did it slow while the dude was still conscious.
Jean Grey doesn't like Wanda.
I think we haven't seen anything from her since Wandavision but of course she will find a way to weasel out of the spell. She will probably have a face turn on one of the Marvel TV shows when they need a magic user.
Holy shit was that illuminati crap so absolutely fucking awful. Even with the reveal of Reed Richards and Xavier just felt so shoehorned in only for them to die immediately just made their first official introduction in the mcu fall flat
In concept the multiverse seems cool, but in reality, it's just a mess and loses it's awe real damn quick
