What's some good contemporary British literature which accurately covers the state of the country today?
I'm talking retail parks, Instagram, call centre work, Twitter spats, full-sleeve tats, charity shops, concrete slabs, 30-year-old virgins, grooming gangs, private schools, video games, the death of pubs, moving abroad, Tinder swipes, addiction to porn, gender benders, ethnic replacement, "I don't see me dad", the housing crisis, depressed young men, Megabus, the London exodus, anxiety disorders, Turning Point Greggs, Barratt Homes, anal sex, student debt, veganism, burnt-out teachers, IVF, cruising Boomers, N'Gubu up front, tents on the highstreet, Kardashian culture.
Nothing to recommend, but sounds like American or general Western degradation rather than a purely British issue. The only caveat to your list is the death of pubs probably being of different cause to the death of bars in the states, though probably not much different in that each carries an associated stigma which discourages younger generations from going.
I mean not really. Birmingham has just been declared minority White British, and a senior councillor in Nottingham recently announced that within the next decade the city will be majority White British.
Aren’t there still more pubs per area than any other country?

The journey home took three hours. We didn’t speak the whole time. We passed towns like Burton-On-Trent and Stoke and Preston and Oldham and Rochdale. Towns where nothing happened, towns that nothing came out of, towns where people worked in vain, sighed in desperation, waited for better days, waited for it to all be over. Towns where hopelessness was recognised as a collective psyche and not a mental health issue. Towns where people lived for the weekend because there was truly nothing else. How many people in this country, this world, were trapped, choked and strangled by their hometowns and everything that came along with them?

I just found it interesting OP posted this, whilst I'm in the middle of trying to write a novel on the modern British experience
I sat and tried to eat my meal but after a while. it stopped tasting like food. It collected in my mouth, a stodgy sludge and suddenly I felt like I was going to vomit. I sat back on my seat all queasy and thought about my mother’s question. Why? Beyonce songs played through a tinny speaker. My existential crisis was soundtracked by Destiny’s Child vocals. It was absurd but strangely normal at the same time. The modern world, or at least my experience of it, was categorised by these nonsensical moments.
