I think part of my issue with it is that nothing was done to characterize Marcy's parents or their concern for what happened to her. The girl's been stabbed, locked up, went through nightmares of her only two lifelong friends never forgiving her, and she was possessed by an evil hivemind. All while no one on Earth even bothered to ask where she is when Anne showed back up.
And after all that shit, we're probably just getting an epilogue where Marcy's offscreen parents are like, "Oh you're still alive? Pack your bags I guess." Having her learn to accept that she has to be able to let her friends go and live their own lives even if they're apart is the natural outcome of the story, it's just especially depressing after this season has done nothing but treat her like a punching bag and/or reinforce her fear of ending up alone.

If it had just ended pre timeskip or after the Spinel movie Steven Universe would have been a pretty happy ending. Then Future revealed Steven tard-wrangling all of the gems as a kid literally gave him mental illness and he had to escape from the gems in order to heal like a teen with shitty parents does.
