Such is many cases where the creator is a total loon but their work is good. Ridiculouscake is an edgelord conservative zoomer but I still fap to the animation of the fat croc lady drinking from a pop machine from time to time. You just have to not financially support them.

The realistic bodies with extremely cartoony heads are an interesting take that was lost in the original cartoon adaptation, I unironically think the reboot is being approached with creativity instead of just applying a modern template like most cartoons

The comic Doug released some time ago is not only fucking beautiful to look at but somehow managed to explain every weird thing from the game, like the salamander suit from EWJ2

Those are simple gags though; the personal investment required to take them seriously would outweigh that of any real intention behind them. It's basically the equivalent of Prof. Monkey-for-a-head as a joke.
That's the really sad part about Tennapel; he's still smart enough to keep his actual work separate enough from his newfound political audience, but he's so entrenched and increasingly vocal in his adopted role of anti-pozzing martyr that keeping up with his work is a chore now.

It seemed like Doug was using the comic to retell Jim in a new way and it was weird but fine. Then the second comic started altering things to be like the cartoon again and it felt like Doug was caving to the whiners who didn't like the changes.

TenNapel is a great artist and character designer but he's a godawful writer. Calling him a piece of shit is going too far but it's obvious he has an over-idealized view of the world and it negatively affects his stories. Even something apolitical like Tommysaurus Rex, which should have been an ironclad concept, fell flat to me.

I really hated the cartoon show for being so fucking generic. It felt like I was watching an even lamer Freakazoid, The Mask, The Tick, Duck Dodgers.
It didn't capture the edginess and weirdness of the 90s in the least bit despite being produced in the 90s.

Did anyone here read Ratfist? The twist was that the kidnapping CEO who was turning people into animals was actually doing the best thing, because he was pursuing a cure for cancer for his daughter and the rest of the world. The message was that just because you think you’re a heroic kid doesn’t mean you’re not just an idiot making selfish judgement calls and inventing villains. I felt this reflected TenNapel’s politics and a conservative idea that immorality is actually a duty of disciplined leaders

This, I thought WB was not the best choice for an adaptation. Not when the games relied way more on physical humor, grossout, and extreme closeups. While theWB show was more puns and conversational humor, like Animaniacs and Freakazoid.
I feel like late Ren and Stimpy/early Spongebob era Games Animation would have been perfect for it.
