Is there any group that doesn't start bullying this guy the instant they meet him?
Nope, he's free bully for everybody
If there's one thing I wish minorities would culturally appropriate fron whites it'd be a little quote from Shakespeare
>brevity is the soul of wit
>Hates Anti-Asian racism
>Proceeds to draw 3 out of 3 Asian characters like /pol/ mainlining the Yellow Peril
Let's see we've got
>WMAF 'Horror I ruff you rongtime' meme
>Mr Miyagi
and
>Hipster Ming the Merciless
Sometimes I have to wonder if Josuah Lunar really is just a faceclaim/actor that was hired by whoever did the works of A. Whayatt Mann or whatever it's called so he can pretend to be Asian and pick up where he left off.
If you're gonna rely that heavily on text why even make it a comic?
Is he making fun of the academic?
Someone send him this
/wsg/
Bullying Josh Luna might be what creates real unity in this divided nation
>when talking about oppression, you must use the ivy league’s method, which is to observe and criticize the way an empire’s physical power structures become social ones. This transformed violence affects Asians who live in America, and the questionable theory that Asians are considered a ‘higher class’ of immigrant to Americans doesn’t change that. Violence against Asians has taken many different forms, because being an empire like America means dominating other states both within and abroad
Is that about right?
Luna despises everyone, especially himself
Asian-American will do ANYTHING to not piss off black people.
They're so fucking pathetic.
Why is he such an anti-academic?
Well what the academic is saying is something Luna would agree with, which is why I’m not sure if he’s mocking the academic for being wordy and arrogant, or if he’s just saying something he agrees with while also having fun with big words. Hard to parse this comic but the guy is saying america is an empire and intuitively oppresses minorities and really Asians don’t have it easier for not being black
Why do mods allow these threads?
I think he's mocking him for being too wordy which makes things difficult to explain to the Man on the Clapham Omnibus types.
Academia has a real problem with being so wrapped up in its fart-iron lung that it becomes impossible for Joe bumblefuck to penetrate.
The term "ivory tower" is universally used to criticize academic aloofness, so I don't know why he would include that if he didn't have some complaint about academia. Not really sure how tapioca-laced beverages enter into this either.
As a physicist I'm glad that my field has tons of very good science communicators and our experiments aren't hated or filled with controversies.
Must suck to suck to be in other fields of academia.
the podium says ivory tower university, making fun of academic wankery
What the hell is he saying?
Yeah you’re probably right it’s just tricky because what the academic is saying is something Luna probably agrees with
She seems to be used (up) goods these days...?
If this is a cartoon about how unnecessarily verbose academic writing is and the fact that it's only written for others in academia rather than people outside of it, I guess it's on-point.
That America is an empire and violence against minorities including Asians is our imperial behavior, and that you have to go to school to understand that. Josh is saying academics are gatekeeping

Luna is anti-academic. He's portraying the academic as a needlessly verbose tool and the general community as sheep with no opinion but the one the academic gives.
This is because Luna fancies himself a brilliant mouthpiece for Asian Americans and highly resents his uneducated and poorly conceived takes being rejected by what he considers his community.
At the end of the day Luna's an Asian that seems to really hate Asians.
tl;dr
lost me on the second word, my inferior roundeyes brain can't keep up
Is this the artist who can't stop expressing how being mixed (or an American born of Korean descent?) means he feels excluded by both white Americans and East Asians?
Ivory Tower would imply he thinks the academic is out of touch, whoever he's supposed to represent.
>Academia has a real problem with being so wrapped up in its fart-iron lung that it becomes impossible for Joe bumblefuck to penetrate.
Or worse, they use no-no words or imply support of bad things and you start to realise why academics are afraid of being "cancelled"... because they're fucking tactless.

Wow, user I'm impressed, de-bullshit that text again twice and maybe people will start to get it.

Ching chong, don't piss off wong.

>He has officially lost his mind
Goddamnit Yea Forums don't just read his comic, read his tweet too
He always include context every comic he created
That's only really a problem in the humanities.
They looked at how highly specific terminology is required in STEM fields, and their take away was "if nobody knows what I'm talking about, it makes me sound smart".
This makes so much sense yet sounds logically retarded.
Imagine hating sheep because they're not your sheep.
It's because your field isn't full of shit and psuedoscience.
>Gravity exists, let me prove it
>I pick thing up
>It drops down
>Makes sense to me, carry on

>Did you know that women aren't real?

>Slam X to doubt
You have our trust user, we know that the chances of you being likely to lie for ideological reasons or for funding.
Keep doing the good work.
You just know this comic exists because Luna tried to "educate" some Asian on racism and they barraged him with academic takes he couldn't process.
>Or worse, they use no-no words or imply support of bad things and you start to realise why academics are afraid of being "cancelled"... because they're fucking tactless.
In order to think you have to risk thinking offensive things. It's the way of the world and unfortunately far too many academics have gone for the
>Know what, that's a rather hard thing to do, I'll just not think instead and coast on group-think.
Route
Honestly I think it's more insidious than that. I think it's more akin to the Catholic church insisting on bibles being in Latin
>If only we can read it then no one can question us or point out the holes in what we're saying, we can be the gatekeepers of truth
He is, brainlets like OP and just don't understand that big balloons of text like that aren't supposed to be read, they're visual representations of nonsense babbling that's supposed to be ignored.
The comic is about how the supposed highly-educated asians are trampling on the lower classes by gatekeeping discussions about racism with their ivy league lingo, which is extremely true. Go look at shit like the Boston MFA kimono exhibition where "asian americans" hijacked the conversation with their pseudo-intellectual bullshit while ignoring actual Japanese and shutting down all dialogue.
it's a fucking visual medium no one who isn't already invested is going to read all that holy moly
It's literally the opposite, brainlet
No, that's pretty much exactly what I said
Reading is hard, user, I get it. Don't worry.
lol
Here is the full comic. OP is a faggot once again.
>Comic edit criticizing da leff for using too many words
>Edit uses too many words and does not use the visuals in any way
Ironic or just coincidental?
He's anti-academic because going to the ivy league is only an option to a certain class of asian (typically rich Chinese) who do not represent the majority, yet use their education and access to the lingo they learn there to act like they represent all asians.
His perspective on it is mostly from a classism in American standpoint, but if you look at it internationally they also use it to pretend to represent asians in asia while gatekeeping them out of the conversation because even highly-educated asians who are fluent in English don't necessarily understand this crap because we aren't indoctrinated into retarded American cult bullshit. They're ensuring that only westerners (regardless of race) are able to participate in discussions.
I can't get over how he draws other Asians with comically exaggerated asian features and then draws himself as slightly Asian Superman
It could be he's butthurt about other asians mocking his retardation. It's impossible to tell with Luna because his imagination tends run away into increasingly deranged scenarios, and you never know which chair his brain sat down on when the music stopped.
Luna we all know you wrote this comic because some nerd told you your hot takes are stupid. You don't need to make all this shit up
lol
This. It's not that Luna is wrong in this specific case. It's just that it comes across as shockingly hypocritical because of all the gatekeeping he does about Asian-American identity.
Classism and Ivy League narcissism are both valid critiques. The problem is Luna isn't nearly as smart or well-spoken as a guy like Ralph Ellison.
What's ambiguous? The comic is a bunch of Asians telling Luna his takes are uneducated. It's not unclear at all.
>Edit uses too many words
Minus the final which is an obvious "HAHA LOOK AT WHAT 'THEY' DO" where is it too wordy? also lol complaining about the art while pointing out it's an edit
I think he is making fun of how detached and clinical and esoteric theories around racism have gotten in the elite ivy league universities. Which could be a fair criticism if it werent because that is how he sees any analisis more complex than "white men bad"
all i know is that he and people like him hate whites
Basically the guy sees what blacks are doing to get attention and he also wants a piece of that pie, but nobody cares because everyone know that Asians really don’t have it that bad in America and that’s driving him insane.
>College protestors being led by twats that just want attention is a racial conspiracy
Shut the fuck up Luna
Go make another comic crying about whites fucking asians
It's Luna, it could easily be him wanting to yell at other asians and this being the response he imagines he'd get. A normal lunatic you'd be completely right. But again, it's Luna.
I just want to add that while Josh Luna does come off as an unhinged deranged psycho with an inferiority and/or Napoleon complex, his shit about the Phillipines is frequently retarded, and I would never want to actually talk to him, he actually does frequently bring up a lot of extremely relevant issues, and his being Asian lets him criticise "Asian American" crap without being just being dismissed offhand as a racist which is what would usually happen when one does that.
The Boston MFA fiasco is a prime example of Asian Americans pretending to represent people they know nothing about. They were literally attacking an exhibition as orientalist, racist, imperialist etc. and insulting the kimono on display when
1) The kimono was commissioned by Japan's NHK and made by artisans from Kyoto who work with the Takarazuka revue
2) It was previously on display in Japan with the exact same "try it on" event, sometimes with a blonde wig to let Japanese people pretend to be a white girl in a kimono
3) It was brought to the US as part of the Japanese government's Cool Japan initiative
4) JAPANESE PEOPLE STRAIGHT UP COUNTER PROTESTED AND TOLD THEM TO FUCK OFF
Instead of backing down those retards started spouting the exact kind of tripe seen in OP pic, which basically added up to "Japanese people should fuck off, this is America so our feelings matter more".
"The new context is divorced from the art" is not criticizing the art
>Where is it too wordy
Everywhere
>read white as water
nigga probably get more fans hating on water tbdesu
>The Boston MFA fiasco
japaneseamericaninboston.blogspot.com
americans are fucking deranged
Ironically though some of Luna's takes do end up venturing into "ignorant Asian American trying to speak for Asia" territory, when he tries to talk about what people in Asia are like.
A person's views are largely shaped by experiences. For Asians growing up in well-to-do white areas, most racism they endure will be from white people. That racism will usually be in the form of "some white guy asked me where I'm REALLY from" or "White people thought my lunch was smelly, but now they turned my food into a trend". Here's an example of the issues boba liberals care about the most, since that's the only real racism they had to endure. Do you think a poor Asian struggling to make money delivering takeout or giving manicures cares that a white woman is writing an Asian recipe book?
When boba liberals go to college, they will meet black and Latino people who have been accepted into a majority white college. Those black/Latino students are not the ones attacking Asians in the streets. So the boba liberal doesn't believe black-on-Asian crime is a real thing, since the only black people they've ever met are the ones approved by white admissions people. The college will be mostly composed of liberal and leftist white people. They see that white people love posting BLM. So they fit in with the crowd by also supporting the same issues. It is natural for human beings to want to fit in with the crowd. So they adopt the beliefs of the educated white elite. They ape white liberals by reading Ibram Kendi and putting up In This House... signs and supporting the latest Instagram cause.
Yeah crazy as he seems it’s hard to say he’s wrong about much anything, you really can’t just dismiss the guy.
Can you blame them?
I'm AGREEING with you that he's describing a valid situation but interpreting it poorly. We're not arguing over anything here.
The issue is that even a schizo like Luna can be partially correct, but people who hate him want to be totally contrarian instead of pointing out that he's just a hypocrite or has midwit takes. Deranged American liberals speaking on behalf of an entire ethnic group, even if they're members of that ethnic group, is nothing new. Luna oversimplifies it but it's a valid observation.
The communist manifesto is much shorter than mein kampf.
What’s boba
>it's so wordy i can't point out a single useless piece of dialogue
i figured it flustered you, not too surprised you're against it solely for tribalistic reasons given it's co
keep on fighting the good fight against shitty edits I guess. also lol on you ignoring the bad art, read your shit before you hit post next time knucklehead
>Like ten people protest
>One person counterprotests
>No one really cares and the museum ends the program to get them to fuck off
Characterizing this as representative of the "Asian American community" is pretty retarded, Luna.
>Harvnerd
Ha ha gottem!
And then there's brainlets like
Tl;dr
Luna’s right but it’s hard to say anything can be done about it except extreme violence
I have a friend in biology.
Whenever it has to interact with human beings and inform them of what they're doing wrong, the human beings always disagree and create controversies.
Anything from farmers demanding culls to urbanites demanding veganism. These force the biologists to put on a sociologist's hat and pretend they understand why people even ask for these stupid things to try and tell people how to not ask for this shit in future.
>It's because your field isn't full of shit and psuedoscience.
>>Gravity exists, let me prove it
user, there's plenty of problems in physics too.
And the "Define woman" problem is politicians (and organisations that act like politicians) trying to grab votes or clout with co-workers and THEN looking for science articles no-one supports to back up their predetermined stance
If you would get over LARPing that you’re talking to the writer then you’d realize you’re a total fucking idiot
>No one really cares and the museum ends the program to get them to fuck off
That's literally the point that the other poster was making: Liberal glory hounds blowing a situation out of proportion for their own gain. Not sure what the argument is here.
how bout you suck on boba dees nuts
ahem.. boba refers to an asian liberal who wears their minority status like a badge despite never encountering hardship because of it.
Yeah it’s funny you can’t even be liberal to not be racist. It feels like an unsolvable issue which is why so many people default on it
If not assuming every dipshit being an asshole is actually a race-based conspiracy to keep down the wrong kind of asians is being a brainlet then sign me up
Better than being a paranoid schizophrenic seeing patterns and conspiracies where there's just run of the mill assholery.
it's okay to be angry, just don't let it drive you. it really wasn't that long, friend
You realize both are manifestos of socialism right?
