All gross-out humor with not a single funny moment

>all gross-out humor with not a single funny moment
>retardedly contrived premise
>no meta stuff, nothing clever just "they fight... le giant sperm lol XD"
>"lie gets out of control" cliche, the staple of bad episodes in most series
>rick went from being a genius demigod to being clueless, dumb and unable to do anything
>cringeworthy pseudo-feminist virtue-signalling shoehorned in for no reason
>ironically enough, everyone forgets Beth could be relevant to the main plot as a horse doctor, her only trait is being a woman after all
>blatant insertion of incest fetish again
worst episode of a cartoon I've seen in a while, holy shit
it's like the perfect storm of retarded, unfunny bullshit

>it's like the perfect storm of retarded, unfunny bullshit
So just another modern Rick and Morty episode?

yeah, but this is a whole another level of awful. horrible premise, horrible execution, no twist, no attempt to make it funny at all
it's like the writers didn't even try this time - it's not even weird enough to be memorable in its shittiness like the dragon episode

>>cringeworthy pseudo-feminist virtue-signalling shoehorned in for no reason
that's the worst part,it's destroying not only this series but all kind of media in general

The incest baby joke was also contrived. The degenerate dishonest writers quickly feigned disgust and ignorance when the joke was not well received.

Incest is a shit-tier fetish. Everyone involved in it should be killed.

Glasses Morty?

yeah they didn't even give a reason why it was summer's egg, literally no reason for that
this episode was such a mess on every level lmao

Rick being a genius demigod is what turned the series to shit in the first place
Season 3 Episode 1 was a mistake

At least some of the other episode employ existential humor or have a mildly interesting sci-fi gig.
The sperm episode just killed the show.

>being a genius demigod to being clueless, dumb and unable to do anything
Honestly that was an aspect only found in season 3 and 4. In season 1 and 2 he was a bit more interesting and mild and season 5 made it somewhat interesting again.

yeah but flip-flopping back and forth between the two is retarded and just lazy writing. he should have either stayed a demigod or never become one in the first place, or at least come up with some reason as to why he's not that strong anymore
you can't just have him go from single-handedly destroying galactic governments to not being able to deal with a few enlarged sperm cells with no explanation, that sticks out like a sore thumb

Rick and Morty was never good.

Szechuan sauce episode killed Rick and Morty.

>>no meta stuff
that's a plus

sure, the meta stuff could get really dumb but at least there was some attempt at something
the sperm episode just feels like the writers gave up. no appeal whatsoever

Yeah it was bad

pretty much. The almost two years gap between seasons 2 and 3 was an indication of the decline

I thought this episode was going for Morty constantly lying to Rick about where the semen came from. As the situation gets worse and worse and no matter how much the truth helps Morty keeps lying. Then when Rick finds out he's not disgusted at all because he's done much grosser sex acts. "Morty do you think I give a shit about your little self loathing fueled wank session? Do you know who I am? Do you know how many things I fucked? Do you know how much alien semen I swallowed? " something along those lines. That would've been a funny use of the characters instead of the garbage we got in the end.

>worst episode
Nah man that episode is funny. It's obviously making fun of 90's alien invasion movies (like independence day) which may or may not have had sexist undertones idk. The sexism joke was very in your face so it's obviously referencing something. Just like the kickboxing joke, it's a reference to something

I remember s1/s2 so well, s3 to lesser extent. I pretty much dont remember anything from s5, and i never saw an episode again after watching it once. That's how much of a disappointment its become, real sad.

Whats worse 4 or 5
I thought 4 but i stop watching it after this episode,is the rest of the season good or just as bad

Yeah, that was really strange too. The characters of this show have done so many degenerate things but suddenly sticking your dick in a machine is too much.

The "Men suck yay we're Girls lets show these dumb Men how do get things done whoo!" scene was unbelievable cringe. That was the very worst moment in Rick & Morty history.

A lot of the "gags" in this episode were so low effort and nonsensical. I mean, that button Rick pulls out that he presses so a voice will say "That was easy." Why? Why did he need a machine to say that? Fucking why?! Completely unfunny and complete fucking cringe. Worst episode by far.

So much coping going on in this post.

You say that because you can't fathom that someone actually enjoys the episode. So you call it a cope.

You're allowed to like a bad episode, but the bad episode is still bad. In this case, it is the worst episode, with few if any redeeming qualities. The only other contender I can think of is the Slut Dragon episode. I want to say the various plot/deep lore episodes that sacrifice humor for plot/character development are also contenders but I'd have to think about it more.

>shitting on one of the funniest moments from the entire episode
The beginning and ending probably had the best gags. Everything in the middle is where it got messy, both literally and narratively.

>Women Writers: The Episode

Anyone still targeting women writers is CHOOSING to be a fucking idiot. Most of the new writers are men anyway, the writer of "Rickdependence Spray" included. The blame for episodes like it is all on Dan Harmon, Rob Schrab, and Scott Marder. THEY'RE the showrunners and its THEIR vision that all the staff writers are working to fit into. I don't know what these guys were thinking when developing the Sperm and Voltron episodes, but the rest of Season 5 has proven that their ideas aren't all bad; just maybe not as consistently solid as the original showrunner teams responsible for those first 2-3 seasons. Rick and Morty is still good, but a bit all over the place now.

That button is a real product sold by the Staples office supply company a decade or two back. I own one and it is ideal for real life shitposting.

This.
Once Roiland, McMhahn, and Ridley left, it was all over.

The feminist stuff almost felt like a parody but then they played it straight. But for me, the gross out elements were the worst part. I outgrew that shit 20 years ago.

>rick went from being a genius demigod to being clueless, dumb and unable to do anything

Yeah but his penis caused the problem then ultimately solved the problem at the end of the episode.

Yes, this is what caused any change that might be felt in the show. The only writer still working on Rick and Morty who's been there since the beginning is Dan Harmon, and Season 3 has proven that his vision can always change on a whim and affect the show directly. Everyone else is brand-new to the show, and while it's not clear if any of them are aiming for the feel of the earlier seasons or the feel of the later seasons, the one guarantee is that they're all following Harmon's singular vision at the end of the day.

It sucks that the show's original writers' room has been whittled down to where Harmon's the only one in control, but at least Alex Rubens (S2 writer) is back on the show, so that could be cool.

Attached: Harmonious Claptrap.jpg (600x684, 60.68K)

It has one joke
I thought it was throwaway
Nope the entire episode is that one joke

This. That is the same problem with DT17.

>rick season 1
>has problems getting through intergalactic customs, no magic bs tech/hack way around it
>instead runs through customs
>its funny because someone so intelligent resorts to such tactics

>s3
>rick has an iron man suit on call
>danger aspect is greatly reduced when it arrives

>s4/s5
>rick has an iron man suit built into his skeleton, with shields and instaill skin
>all aspects of danger are flat out gone

OP characters are really not fun unless it's played for jokes, instead of how its played straight here. OPM handled it well with saitama.

Justin Roiland really was the key to making it all work in those first two seasons. When he has time to think things through and not be made to make shit up on the spot he's actually a decent writer.

Dragon episode was hot though

>its funny because someone so intelligent resorts to such tactics
Changing Rick's tech from surprisingly powerful junk to high-tech sci-fi gadgetry was a mistake. The fight with Phoenix Person in the S4 finale was cool, but it really solidified that we won't ever have to worry about Rick getting in over his head and being in any actual danger of dying. There will always be a way out.

Attached: 1595954459139.png (298x640, 45.95K)

They've toned it down in the latest season.

yeah, after they established he has godlike levels of power which are now gone for no reason
fucking stupid

>Then when Rick finds out he's not disgusted at all because he's done much grosser sex acts.
Or, he just knew all along, and was waiting for Morty to admit it. It made no sense why Rick would never question if it was Morty, especially with how suspicious he was acting.

>OPM handled it well with saitama.
But there's no danger period when he's around. Other characters are what gets the more serious plots moving.

yeah, Rick was just full retard in this episode. had no plan at all and got defeated by an unarmed sperm who knew kickboxing
I guess he's not only not a demigod but also not "the smartest man in the universe" at all

At least the dragon episode gave us a great B-plot with the talking cat. Not only was it something that got people's imagination running wild but seeing Rick put his petty grievances aside to comfort Jerry after they discovered the cat's identity was an all-around great scene.

That scene was sweet, but of course the fandom had to make a whole big deal out of it by overthinking and theorizing about the true nature of the cat. This is one of the few cases where you LITERALLY don't need to think so hard about it. It's a talking cat, and the characters acknowledge that it's a strange case. End of discussion.

Attached: 69199_07_rick-morty-season-4-episode.jpg (620x348, 30.12K)

>fucking stupid
It really isn't but ok

The writers expecting the fanbase to not find the cat interesting is the equivalent of that girl who walks around half naked in public and then gets angry at people who look at her. If the writers really wanted to satirize passionate fans who committed the crime of finding their show interesting then the metaphor should have been something stupid and not portrayed as heartfelt as it was in that scene. Hell, the talking cat is made all the more interesting because of things from past seasons.
>Jerry's parents were into cuck shit which goes along with the sexual nature of the episode and may also explain why he was so sickened.
>This is the second time Jerry's been contacted through strange, unexplained supernatural phenomena with the first time being that scene where the "wind" called him a loser.
>Going by the theory that the cat's identity/crime had something to do with old people, perhaps that alternate reality Jerry who produced Weekend at Dead Cat Lady's can be connected to it.

And no, I don't feel stupid or "played like a fiddle" for thinking about it despite being instructed not to do so because it's fun and that goes for everyone else who does the same. I actually hope the cat returns in another episode. Though it may be unreasonable to expect to see the truth of what Rick and Jerry saw, giving us one more hint would drive the fandom batshit crazy.
>Some giant, mutated, grotesque quadrupedal beast tearfully asks someone off screen why they didn't let them know about this secret before they soul bonded.
>The beast then yells at the person off screen to get out before running away sobbing themself.
>The cat walks into frame, dejectedly answering "B-but you told me to speak of it no more..."

Rick and Morty only became good after S1 ended, cope

I know episodes in the later seasons get flak but this is the only one that really stood out as shit to me

i dropped series midway though that episode

>rick went from being a genius demigod to being clueless, dumb and unable to do anything
You mean he went BACK to being dumb; rewatch season 1 he's a sloppy idiot.

Rick God was trash.

Well then you missed out

Attached: 1626468631257.png (1920x1080, 393.93K)

I'd say the last two episodes of season 2 were when the series jumped the shark. Rolland and Harmon couldn't agree on the what the show should be and we got a compromise everyone can't fucking stand.

>and we got a compromise everyone can't fucking stand.
Speak for yourself. I like that we have a balance of serialized arcs and one-off adventures. Rick and Morty is a show all about infinite worlds, so this allows the writers to fully tap into the storytelling potential placed before them. I just wish some of the one-offs could be a bit stronger and that Summer hadn't gotten ruined as a character. Nimbus, Decoys, and Planetina were great, Thanksgiving special was alright, but Sperm, Rick's Ship, and Gotron just felt like a waste of time after I finished watching each one. The main reason I stuck around was because I knew the final three episodes would be big, and they definitely delivered.

What would it take for Roiland to want to get involved again? It's not as fun to watch when you know he's just coming in for voices and that's it.

Attached: rick and morty season 7.jpg (1080x837, 135.52K)

Rick and Morty hasn't been funny since S1 when Jarmon got the upper hand over Roiland, what are you on about?
Men of taste

I now realize why it feels so empty at this moment. No new commercials and no Comic-Con sneak peeks for Season 6…

That living room is so comfy

>everyone forgets Beth could be relevant to the main plot as a horse doctor
im not spending 4+ years in college to find out
what do they teach you in animal school that helps you fight giant sperm or horses that speak english?

probably over thousand ways to "accidentally" kill animals

Would Gotron Jerrysis Rickvangelion be salvaged if the Incest Baby callback were removed?
