It was a huge deal at the time. Before SpongeBob, Rugrats was the channel’s flagship.

Its a hatesub that after years of screaming at James for being the worst person in the world got the tamest response and they have been melting down about it ever since.

I went and checked; his last two AVGN videos have more views than the LJN ones he did last year. At most it seems like views slowed down compared to years before. His AVGN still gets a million in a few weeks or a month or so while NC reviews take way longer to hit 1M now (like about a year or so).

The advantage Channel Awesome does have over Cinemassacre is that have non-Doug videos that could potentially do well. A bunch are lower than Non-James Cinemassacre videos, but there's some (like a few Fanscription episodes) that vastly outperform Non-James Cinemassacre videos, and sometimes even some James Cinemassacre videos.

Yeah Paris is a much better. With that said there is some value in this movie. The kids' adventure being actually dangerous, Stu actually needing a job to support his family, and Tommy being responsible are really good points.

With that said how did they resolve Stu's money problems?

Even if his site didn't go down in flames, Doug has no place in the current internet age anyway.
He's a relic of a bygone age of "angry" reviewers.

Nobody wants that anymore, they want silly or insightful material to put in the background, that or just straight up streaming

Someone like Scott the Woz is vogue right now because his style of comedy doesn't rely on screeching like an ape over something that doesn't warrent that kind of reaction, while actually saying something about the material he plays.

Even Doug's piers and contemporaries have largely moved on, with the exception of James who's admitting to only doing the Nerd now because it's a moneymaker and he has workers to pay.

MST3K and Rifftrax work so well because, with very few exceptions, they're just talking shit about whatever movie is on. They have never tried to pass their routine off as valid criticism.

He doesn't really do the angry thing anymore, He's pretty chill while he reviews stuff now.

As a kid, I had the tape for the Rugrats movies, but not of the TV Series. So for the longest time, I saw the first but never the later.

It really does vex me how he still has the drive to do this crap anymore. He's kept alive entirely by the man child portion of his fanbase that refuses to move on. And also OneyPlays fans who got jebaited into watching him. I agree with you though, people want actual movie criticism like Double Toasted or Chris Stuckman not these exaggerated characters and skits.

Despite how shit the movies they riffed on were, they did show respect because they were cut from the same cloth

MST3K was a goofy sci-fi premise, that started with homemade sets, costumes, and puppets, making fun of other productions with cheap sets, costumes, and puppets.

It was creators friendly poking fun at other creators, knowing how hard it would've been but still having the self awareness to turn it into a joke

The NC isn't like that, his "reviews" were active take downs of the material, insulting the crew, while offering nothing constructive about it and often misunderstanding what that work was going for in the first place

All while acting like it was in any way valid or insightful, while hiding under the cowardly excuse of "satire" and "it's just a joke bruh, it was muh character"

yes, they do. Channels like Saberspark, YMS, or LS Mark are extremely popular.

I think if anything killed the momentum of the Rugrats, it was releasing this movie a couple years too late. Rugrats in its prime was between 93-96 and this movie came out in 98. By then, we were already preparing for cartoons like Powerpuff Girls.
