She got into the industry by bitching about tropes and proceeded to actually write good stories. Her dialogue and grasp of character is fantastic.

New 52 Batgirl and Birds of Prey are my favorite things by her.

She always felt like she came from the Whedon school of writing. She's better than most in that regard but her character feel very samey. Secret Six is probably her best work. But at this point she's like a bog standard writer.
Also hot take but I really prefer Dixon's BOP to hers.

Everyone basically talks the same and has the same personality with some exceptions like Shiva and Cheshire who are serious fight girls. Also insane levels of Oracle wank (mainly because she had to justify to Didio why they shouldn't just make her Batgirl again.

Tarnished by her decision not to stand up for Oracle, and instead essentially rubberstamping DC's decision by doing Batgirl. Her cred went out the window.

Babs being crippled is, in hindsight, another silly 90's change. Sure, they made lemons out of lemonade with Oracle, but its stupid to think it'd be a permanent change anymore than Hal Jordan being Spectre, Guy Gardner losing his lantern ring and becoming Warrior,and any other given desperate 80's/90's change.

Looking her up, she wrote a good episode of Batman The Brave and the Bold, as well as a good episode of Justice League Unlimited. I have not read a single one of her comics.

Tries way too hard to be cute in her writing and is pretty blatantly influenced by Whedon. That said she was a serviceable to good writer for a while but has been a largely mediocre to bad one since like 2005 or 2006. Zinda's the only good part of the later portion of her BoP run.

Great until New 52 where she ended up going full retard because they pretty much erased her legacy. Now she's just a Twitter cliche.

I tried but I thought it was mostly bad as it was written long after Simone had devolved into a parody of herself and so it contains all of her worst traits as a writer. The characters are pretty trash and the only semi-likable one is Catman.

That's based though. Ice should've never died and Waid has said it's the biggest (or one of the biggest) regrets he has as a writer because he only did it on a whim by asking his editor at the time whose death would hurt readers the most.

I imagine she had no choice. Even the Brightest Day BoP series, editorial forced Hawk and Dove on her. They wanted her to write the Nu52 series but she balked because they gave her a pitch and told her she couldn't deviate from it. DiDio hated Oracle and always wanted Babs as Batgirl because she was Batgirl in all the other media and he's obsessed with synergy. With the Nu52 he finally got his way.

The first two or three arcs of her Wonder Woman.

I mean, there is only so much you can do with the Oracle - a crippled character who is essentially a mission control to other superheroes, before she gets stale. Like, she was stuck in the same place for 20 years. It was very visible during the 2009 Final Crisis era. Every Batcharacter was changing mantles and progressing with their stories, Babs was just there on sidelines not progressing anywhere. Making her Batgirl again gives writers more wiggle room to actually DO something with her.
FFS, they made her Oracle again post-IF and after a year, she's back to being Batgirl again, because nobody knew what to do with her.
