Luz has her own moments to shine as a person whenever she tries to create bonds or anything.
But I think the fact of Luz being a damsel on distress and it's always her friends who fixes her problems seems impressive. It gives room to the other characters to shine a lot while also gives Luz to shine in her own way.
Personally I like it. It's better than always being the main protag in fixing everything.
