No, academia is designed specifically to force the educated workforce as far to the left as possible. This is true for every field.

Almost all coercive action is in the hands of myriads of permanent public sector workers with special legal statuses. They don't go out after elections, and they are often impossible to remove by elected people (to make them 'independent').
Add to that the insane level of corporatism and often secrecy in the police, courts, local administrations, various enforcement agencies, and of course the intelligence community.
Depending on the country public spending represents half of gdp. Large parts of it is spent discretionarily by people no one has ever heard of, and the parts going through the official budget going to parlement are spent based on a mix of buying votes and giving contracts to (often undisclosed or at least non publicised) friends.
Not to mention the attempts at implementing the full panopticon over society at large.
I can't imagine what goes through the heads of people denying the deep state.
