Hello, hello! Happy Arbor Day all! Excited to be here again with another storytime of an Amelia Bedelia book for all of you kind anons :) Since it's Spring we'll be doing something hopefully in season (since the first pitch was just a few weeks ago) with "Play Ball, Amelia Bedelia", which will also be the first Tripp-illustrated book I've storytimed!
There were two other books I'd considered for this thread that would be perfect, the brand-new "Amelia Bedelia Hops To It" and "Amelia Bedelia Cleans Up", though these were both hundred-odd page chapter books so I opted not to. Likewise I'd like to apologize for letting the last thread get ahead of me and 404 as early as it did, but I'd say better that than necrobumping for another week. Without further ado, though, let's play ball!
>"A holm run? Sir I don't think a dash across the river is very wise..."
>"You want me to walk the next hitter? Again sir with the undue intimacy!" (Assume an indignant harrumph here)
The end! I'd like to thank the wikipedia glossary of baseball terms for adequate pun-fodder, and a few laughs too. That's it for the (first) storytime, now just bumping and discussing! It was a lot of fun doing a book with a different illustrator than the Sweat-Amelia we're all used to- Wallace Tripp's Amelia is a lot more homely and I love the way Tripp draws motion and expression in this book. It's unfortunate he only illustrated two, but I'd be happy to do the other one in the future!
Bit of a slower start to the thread than I'd hoped, so if any lurking anons have greentext ideas feel free to drop them! I'll see what I can do in terms of some little stories :D
I like Tripp's Amelia design best. She has a homely but caring demeanor. Too bad he only did two of the books.

I like it too! I think I like Sweat's a bit more because she feels younger, but Tripp definitely nails the motion/action/expression in his art, and I'd love to see what a fusion between his Amelia and Sweat's would look like.
Heading to bed now so I did wanna ask- barring the somewhat obvious constraints to posting chapter books (they'd be 60 or so images), they are still illustrated. So- would you like to see them incorporated into future Amelia threads as either OP books, mid-thread books or, what I was thinking, something to the tune of a mega or a catbox? Amazing as always HB, thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you're doing well :D
Can't complain. My RL day job is getting close to something big that I'm excited about (sorry, no details), so I'm in a good mood lately. Hope you're having a great day, too!

Amelia looks kind of different from the other books here, it's cute. She looks a little dopier

That's Tripp for you. His version of her is very distinctive.
