Aside from Shoplifters and Outrage trilogy, are there any good recent Japanese films?

ok i'll stop whats your favourite beat takeshi film?

The third entry of the Outrage trilogy.

I saw Maborosi probably 9 or 10 years ago, and while I did like it at the time I wasn't sure it was all that incredible or anything. However that movie has stuck with me and I still find myself thinking back to it now and then. It really affected me more than I thought it would. Maybe not my favorite but it definitely comes to mind.

Hanagatami, Forest of Love, Stand by me Doraemon

first love was pretty good

>Aside from Shoplifters
I don't know but shoplifters was pretty kino.

Terraformars

I loved this movie so much.
>heat haze roads
>looks like it's filmed always at twilight
>mirror reflections
>wet dewy nature
>melancholy/depression
>childhood innocence
I need more movies like this, the only thing that comes close is Mushishi (the anime series).

The Pinky Violence films

>No Shuji Tereyama
>No Takashi Ito
>No hideaki anno
Trash list desu.

>miike directing this

韓国人

Autumn Afternoon.
Why isn't Rashomon on your chart?

Like half of Kurosawa's films deserve to be on the chart.

its 5 entries per director, which one would you cut?

This is my favorite thing ever released by criterion, Ozu is just such a sublime comfy director once you get into his rhythm, Late Autumn, Equinox Flower, and Tokyo Twilight are absolute kino. Any Ozu fans in here find his films super super comfy

Miike's whole shtick is that he will literally direct anything

>not お早よう
ngmi desu

Bruh Good Morning is literally among my favorite films of all time, but everyone who’s into Ozu knows it, loves it and talks about it, I rarely see discussion for other lesser seen Ozu films like the ones I mentioned which are incredibly heartfelt and worthy of discussion.

Let's face it, if it's Ozu we're talking about, anything other than Tokyo Story, Late Spring and Floating Weeds falls into the lesser seen category

Noroi the Curse

Puts on sunglasses in a smug arrogant way to show of her superiority*

anyone watched "it comes"?

Had the exact same thought. Although I don't really like most of these people being put on the same list as Ozu and Kurosawa.
