Was he a good father?
Was he a good father?
Yes just very cold. Made the kid rich and money definitely can buy happiness unless you're a fagboy that just wants unconditional love from another man.
Don't even remember any of the film besides paul dano
How can i copy this aesthetic in the current year?
He really wasn’t that cold to his son until he got older and wanted to leave though. Considering this took place in the late 1800s and early 1900s I’d say he was an exceptional father for that time. Especially considering that he was a single father. He never beat his son, taught him life lessons, always stood up for his son, and only sent him away for his son’s benefit.
t. poorboy
In what way does my post suggest I'm poor lmao
Yes
Yes, before hiss on went deaf that is. Back then that kind of thing was an even bigger hurdle than it is now when it comes to raising a kid. If the son never went deaf this movie would’ve been a wholesome father-son bonding film about the oil industry
>Yes just very cold.
No, he became cold because of his greed. The well blow accident then became an excuse for him to remove the one thing that kept his humanity and for him to fall fully into his greed.
there are no good fathers, only good enough fathers. he did all he was capable of
All wrong, Plainview never had any warmth towards HW, he just hated almost everyone else and wanted another human he could imprint himself on.
When HW lost his hearing that became impossible, when Henry arrived Daniel disposed of HW and had Henry take his place, when he found out Henry was an imposter Daniel killed him and brought HW back. He cared for the two of them about the same, and if he could have done so justifiably and in secret he would no doubt have killed HW just as he did Henry as soon as he was no longer 'useful' to him.
Daniel was an absolutely reprehensible human being
IVE ABANDONED MY CHILD
Who was right? Day Lewis or Dano?
>tfw you didn't love this or No Country For Old Men and thought they were both just good
I think I need more ironic self-awareness in my grimdark
>characters are named daniel and paul
bravo PTA
what a brainlet take
>character is evil because he's evil
same
I can only truly enjoy old cinema tbqh
>I think I need more ironic self-awareness in my grimdark
The way you phrased this sounds stupid. Can you give me an example of what you mean? What's your ideal grimdark?
So you love Tarantino shit?
Dr Strangelove: the world is destroyed at the end and people don't learn anything but it's still a comedy.
even Ingmar Bergman doesn't bang on the same note as persistently as anything Cormac McCarthey is involved with.
Paul Sunday is barely in the film. Paul Dano mainly plays Eli Sunday.
You're just a pleb with so little taste and self awareness that you would unironically type something like this. No Country is one of the Coen's best films but it doesn't come anywhere close to PT Anderson. The fact you can't notice that, worries me.
>No Country is one of the Coen's best films but it doesn't come anywhere close to PT Anderson.
100% this, but with that said, Inside Llewyn Davis is better than most of PTA's movies.
He only played Paul at first, so the point stands.
DRAIIIINAGEEE
No. And he knew he wasn’t.
Move to the oil fields.
