it was more niche and it didn't pioneer anything that the simpsons didn't already do

Maybe if it had more scenes with Dr. Zoidberg

>rick n morty
>cultural impact
Lmao

I just watched that episode an hour ago. Was having them dressed like that fan service or ironic fan service?

It had some impact on mid 2000s internet

i used to fap to leela like 16 years ago

Reference to Star Trek Next Gen where the ladies do some necessary yoga infront of the camera. So ironic fan service

zoooooom zoooom zooomy zooooom

This. Also it was at best half as funny as The Simpsons.

what cultural impact did futurama even have? we don't quote anything they said on a mass scale, none of the tech shown became a thing.

I see. Thank you.

it wasn't as funny as peak simpsons, but is more funny that simpsons on average (considering how shit simpsons has been for so long)

Attached: 1583081956893.jpg (557x557, 51K)

Why not Zoidberg?

Attached: Zoidberg-by-Blizz21.png (3000x3460, 331K)

OP is just a baby zoomer who doesn't remember 20 years ago when Futura was the Rick & Morty of its time.

"GOOD NEWS EVERYONE" is pretty popular

but it did. its one of the most quotable shows of all time. there were basically futurama memes before there were memes

It does.

It was fucking garbage. I've never seen Rick and Morty but I'm sure it's shit too. Simpsons had 6-7 excellent years that we can look back on so that's why it got to stick around and have an impact. Futurama never made a single good episode

>Futurama never made a single good episode
NOOOO NOT THE HECKIN DOG EPISODE

Attached: futurama-ffffuuuu.jpg (580x442, 45K)

Shit episode, and not funny at all which is the biggest problem with Futurama. It dabbled in melodrama and shitty character interactions but could never get being funny down. Of course, the nerds that like it think any science faggoty reference counts as humor

drama and comedy usually never mix. you can only pull one off right at a time

I generally agree but Futurama couldn't get either right. It was a tone deaf mess and painful to watch. I feel the same way about that piece of shit Scrubs show for the same reason

Attached: 3r7hzx.jpg (577x433, 62K)

What are you on about faggot, the early seasons were chocked full of laughs, stop being so contrarian

because unlike the simpsons it was actually funny and unlike richard and mortimer it's actually smart and funny.

>it's a voice actors doing sopranos impressions on the dvd commentary episode

>ricky and morty

Attached: 016.jpg (816x315, 42K)

Shut up and take my money reached a level of cultural penetration to the point that it was used in a lot of ads

here's your (you)

dont be a dumb cunt, remember how big the shut up and take my money meme was?

Post body nerd.

>The spirit is willing, but the flesh is ...bruised and spongy.

In the movie fry goes back to the past and raises adopts him again so no more sad

season 5 doesn't exist

It was culturally relevant for 15+ years, you fucking child. I don't even know why the Simpsons outlasted it.

>implying Futurama didn't have any cultural impact
It's pretty integral to "muh nerd culture" types

It was sincere fan-service masquerading as ironic fan-service.

It's just the Simpsons in space so it will always be under the Simpsons umbrella.

Why did they never mention Amy's corona virus?

just shut up and stop posting.

>grunka lunka dunketty darned guards

Shut the hell up!

because most of the time its characters are not relatable at all

>posting on Yea Forums
>can't relate to Fry or Zoidberg

come on now

>not knowing what cultural impact means

based retard

Fucking Fry, you idiot

>blocks your path

Attached: Whimmy Wham Wham Wozzle.png (640x480, 211K)

Yeah the show tries way too hard to hit you in the feels way too often. Also Fry's oneitis with Leela gets very annoying especially in the later episodes.

>good news everyone!
>I don't want to live on this planet anymore
>why not zoidberg?
>shut up and take my money
Just because you weren't born yet when the show started airing doesn't mean that no one has ever quoted it, user.

Having an autistic fanbase isn't the same thing as being culturally impactful.
Also, every episode of R&M is ripped from something else, literally just stolen star trek episodes with improv overtop.

>he doesn't eat spoiled milk out of a baseball cap
Get out normie

It's why American Dad never took off in popularity even though it was extremely better than FG. The style was too similar.

If I don't survive, tell my wife... hello.

the digital animation was pretty novel for the time

Attached: 8d9.jpg (600x496, 75K)

Its legacy is reddit memes.
>I don't want to live on this planet anymore
>Shut up and take my money
>not sure if...

>she's built like a steakhouse, but she handles like a bistro

Futurama is great

Its not some 3 star meal or junk food. Its just well made, well animated fun. Sort of like a good sandwich.

Pretty much

>I don't want to live on this planet anymore
This was legitimately one of the funniest gags out of futurama/simpsons

I think this is my favorite one-off joke in Futurama: youtube.com/watch?v=pwODwwgE6rA

>Stop exploding, you cowards!
Zapp always makes me kek

Wow you just sound like you hate everything. Please give examples of shows you enjoy.

Based

The dumbest thing I read today.

MASH

Quiet rowbit

This isn't a war, it's a murder.

It did have impact when it was airing. "Good news everyone!"

sorry but click sucks

you just described rick and morty you dunce

Attached: 1405939682277.gif (230x250, 1.88M)

>I'm going to make my own [thing] with blackjack and hookers.

>click
This isn’t a war, it’s a moitur!

Because the simpsons are a wholesome family with exagerated peculiarities. Homer is a father, he has a job. Marge is a stay at home mother. There are kids. And every episode ends with a good message.

Futurama is a set of losers with no future. Genetally the episodes have no meaning besides humiliate the mc.

Like the vast majority of shows that get brought back, the original episodes were vastly superior.
In fact, name an uncanceled show that stayed the same or got better quality wise after coming back.

It does far more exploring and adventuring than humiliating the main character.

the clone wars?

worse, all the characters become randumb like fry in the late seasons

I don't know about Americans but there was a 2 year period when Futurama was more popular than The Simpsons here in Australia until the movie came out.

Based

Only 2 episodes in but so far it's pretty good.

I think Simpsons is a lot more about humiliating Homer than Futurama is about humiliating Fry desu

Homer is literally too dumb to live.
Marge is literally too pathetic to live.
Lisa is a political mouth piece that is on and off thrown under the bus.
Bart swings between pathetic and stupid.

I haven’t seen it, but good answer.
For things that got worse after coming back I was thinking
Futurama
Family Guy
What else?

The last episode was absolute kino. The rest were pretty much just garbage though.

what's rick n morty's cultural impact?

>Roswell that ends well
>godfellas
>time keeps on slipping
>war is the h word
I mean, I could just keep naming episodes. The original run had many great episodes. It’s the later seasons that got off track.

...

It's only fanservice if you are into 2d. It's just a reference to fanservice if you are not.

All those replies, plus Bender and Zap Brannigan

Very nice.

Futurama was always just the reddit version of the Simpsons

If reddit existed when futurama was at the height of its popularity, you tourists hadn't arrived yet to talk about it constantly.

>Zap Brannigan
>fly the white flag of war
>just a broken down hobo and his commanding officer
>i have a very sexy learning disability
>what makes a man turn neutral?
>i sent wave after wave of my men until the killbots reached their limit and shutdown
plus his campaign record:
>the carpet bombing of eden 5
>the destruction of the pacifists of the ghandi nebula
>conquering the seniors of the assisted-living planet

reddit is generally better than Yea Forums.

the simpsons is the reddit version of the simpsons.

because people who watch it has class.
rick and morty fans sperg out in the floor of mcdonalds.
Shut up and take my money.

Zap Brannigan barely had any lines that weren't quotable.

Why, so you can shit on them? Sorry, I'll leave myself open to attack but not my beloved kino

Lots of you fishing going on in this thread.

imagine if the guy talking about (you)fishing didn't get any (you)s

It did. A girl in England had a bench carved in the image of Bender after she died of cancer.

Unironically because it was too intelligent

Futurama had a disproportionately large cultural impact though? It aired in reruns all throughout the 2000s, got 4 movies made because of how well the DVD sold and then got uncancelled. I remember seeing Bender merchandise everywhere as a kid, just because it doesn't resonate with zoomers.

Attached: download.png (300x168, 5K)

Post Futurama kinos.
youtube.com/watch?v=vAUOPHqx5Gs

yeah but all the post-uncancellation episodes are fake and gay

God just fuck off to Twitter you zoomer

Why don’t they like it?
Not nihilistic enough for them?

Or maybe it’s because they think of the lost cancellation episodes when thinking about it, whereas I don’t even consider them when thinking about the series.

No, the new seasons did this and it completely ruined zoidberg, then again the new seasons were a terrible abomination in every other way as well.

>got 4 movies made... and then got uncancelled.
youtube.com/watch?v=i-15kwAqIRM

Your assumption is bad and you should feel bad.

The new seasons attempting to give everyone a heart string tugging back story episode was awful. Almost as bad as the topical episodes.

That's not how death works.

At age 25, after years of doing every drug under the sun, getting into 4v1 fist fights, driving cross country while high on speed and crawling out of the car after crashing it twice on an icy road, watching my friends who I've come to hate either die or become trannies from drug induced psychosis, loving married women and having my heart inevitably broken, converting lesbians with my cock, and living with wild dogs for months, I can relate.

>Oy, now he emotes!

Attached: 65800.png (250x188, 62K)

There were some good episodes like that forwards-only time machine. But yeah, the new seasons were bad. It suffered the same way Simpsons did. Fry went from relateable 90s guy to Leela obsessed cuck idiot, and the other characters became caricatures as well.

>i'll construct a race of atomic supermen! with freeway ramps as arms and hearts black as coal...

Disenchantment

how’s this for cultural relevance

Attached: BE594FE3-839E-47A5-B5F9-22977A41E7D1.jpg (667x1000, 38K)

The Futurama subreddit is really active every day. People posting memes and art, not many shows can say that about themselves after having been off the air for 7 years.

death by snu snu

What about it?

Cute butt

though neither shiny nor metal

Devising a theorem to deal with body switching was nerdporn
No fair! You changed the outcome by observing it!
oh look futuramas on.jpeg

I was just thinking about that line while bringing in groceries yesterday.
But yes, inventing a working formula for calculating mind swapping was one of the few good things to come out of the newer seasons.

True. Though I’d be willing to try to shine it. And I’d certainly bite it.

>the nerds that like it think any science faggoty reference counts as humor
Have you even fucking watched it you spastic

It had and continues to have modest cultural impact. Honestly, I hadn't thought about it in years though before seeing this thread. Nobody ever talks about it on here.

No, I am genuinely interested in what a connoisseur of art such as yourself favors

It did have an cultural impact. Many people reference it for current events, memes and reaction images

The Scary Door was kino.
>I have combined the DNA of the most evil animals: the snake, the tiger, the shark, the bear, to create the most evil creature of them all!
>[naked guy steps out of the mad scientist's genesplicing chamber, deadpan voice] Turns out it's man
That fat bong hack Charlie 'wot if yer mam got BLACKED by an iphone mental izznt' Brooker couldn't write anything half as poignant as a recurring gag on a cartoon that went off the air seven years ago.

Snu snu is one of the most enduring euphemisms I've come across in all my years

How does one convert a lesbian?

to shreds, you say

it did. Now shut up and take my money. So i can watch those two fuck

I request a satanic funeral!

Good post.

No I'm doesn't

>Oops

Attached: 28765432456.gif (240x184, 56K)

simpsons never were funny to anyone who are not american niggers with their cultural bullshit

futurama is universally funnier than simpsons

why make this argument, both shows are made by the exact same people

>Leela and Amy getting sweaty on the ground together

Attached: smelloscope.jpg (640x360, 87K)

>poignant
what are you even on about , it was just ripping on TTZ's obsession with its "man was the real evil" gimmick.

What are you guys talking about? Futurama had far more depth than Simpsons. It wasn't just about the jokes, it was about the story and character development, which is shit-tier in the Simpsons. Futurama was the first cartoon of it's kind

>If we hit that Bull's Eye, the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate!

Not to mention the constant retcons.

>Futurama was the first cartoon of it's kind
Lol no it wasn't, and I watched it from the very beginning. It got stale fast.

actually it is, ex:
>star wars

Futurama won by not aiming for cultural impact. Nobody screeches and brays about "zombie" seasons. There is no reflexive grognard backlash, no endless debates on how kek, kringe or kino it was.
People remember it fondly and that is all the cultural impact it needs
>but the movies!
Rick and morty is getting a movie one day, no animated series or cartoon is free of them

It wasn't as big of a cultural phenomenon as The Simpsons but it isn't obscure FFS. People know what it is.

this is the real answer

Family Guy didn't get a movie.

Futurama is great, not many shows can compete with it, including the creators current show.

Attached: 7CA87BCE-02CA-4085-85B9-443EC0B666B7.jpg (640x480, 55K)

yeah so this is a family show. futurama is a show for nerds and nerds enthusiast

BASED and REDPILLED

Attached: cant flimflam the zimzam.gif (389x279, 2.27M)

It did have cultural impact at the time. It's a shame no one really talks about it anymore.

ahh no help me fry, leela is smothering me again

Attached: 1535364781797.jpg (1302x968, 91K)

It did in Eastern Europe

I still lose my shit every time I rewatch it. Peak comedy.

I guess the Stewie one doesn't count. There's no way in hell Seth won't make one.

>selling some t shirts that stoners wear and doing an ad campaign for McDonald's is cultural impact

Based counterpost. Favorite episode? For me it was when Winchester trained that Korean band and then they got exploded at the end

fpbp, this was like the jetson's to the simpson's Flintstones. Just Simpsons in the future but not as good.
The "depth" is what makes it cringe. Muh forced emotional moments. It's just Simpsons In Space

Too smart. Not in rick and Morty fake smart that makes idiots feel smart.

The Simpsons was so much more popular internationally than Futurama lmao

>futurama
It kind of did because the writing was clever. Then it died, came back and was less funny, and died again.

>sneedsons
Never died but became totally irrelevant about 15 years ago. Actually saved Fox from going out of business.

>reddit and reddit
Everyone will forget this one week after series finale like every other cartoon network show.

That is still more funny than Rick or Family Guy.
