>amadeus

The greatest way to tell a stupid person who thinks they're smart

It's an entertaining and beautifully shot film, literally nothing wrong with that being on a list.

Your tastes are a little pretentious. You want people to think highly of you. That said, your top 5 are at least good movies.

>t brainlet

1 end of evangelion
2 apocalypse now
3 a clockwork orange
4 eraserhead
5 the master

It's incredibly dishonest both in subject matter and style

1. 2001
2. Trainspotting
3. Withnail and I
4. Lost Highway
5. Enemy

1.) Apocalypse Now
2.) The Joker
3.) The King Of Comedy
4.) Little Murders
5.) Death To Smoochy

Guess I'm eating bait today. It's be recounted through Salieri's delirium, this is established in the first scene. How is it dishonest?

>mulholland drive
>Amadeus
>the matrix
Not for me, bud.

Mine.
>The Prestige
>American Beauty
>Whiplash
>Drive
>American Psycho

Foreign films and experimental garbage can fuck off. I like some but USA dunks on them. We have the best entertainment industry after all.

1. Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman (2000)
2. Freddy Got Fingered (2001)
3. The Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
4. Rashomon (1950)
5. The Birth of a Nation (1915)

absolutely baste

Because Salieri and Mozart were at worst amicable colleagues, at best good friends

it makes a mockery of both men (and does it with yank accents for some bizarre reason)

LOTR trilogy
For a few dollars more
Ronin
Predator
Vampire Hunter D

Attached: 1341954643571.jpg (700x592, 110K)

i would spin it the other way and say that people who are obsessed with historical accuracy are the true plebs. it's a fucking film. it's entertainment.

It's a complete hatchet job perpetrated against two great men. If you somehow think this is worthy of praise I have nothing more to discuss with you

1. Mortdecai

never let the truth get in the way of a good story

it's not a biography my man. it's a film adaption of a dramatized stageplay

it was worth misrepresenting both men just get people talking about classical music again.

based on his letters mozart's personality defied categorization, particularly in a movie. the contrast with Saleri is to give the audience a way of relating to someone who was writing multi-linguistic puns when he was 13, dicking around in Paris failing to play any of his best songs at concerts when he was 22, then begging people for loans while throwing money away during the time when he was writing the greatest art ever produced. oh and he was probably also a socially awkward autist whose friends were all other musicians.

>Ralph Bakshi's Wizards
>LOTR Trilogy
>Predator
>The Dark Crystal
>Laputa Castle in the sky

Attached: giphy.gif (460x212, 828K)

Well, Schindler's List was full of historical inaccuracies, but it was still a good movie that the majority liked

1 - The Third Man
2 - North by Northwest
3 - The Godfather part I&II
4 - The Lord of the Rings trilogy
5 - Princess Mononoke

Honorable mentions: The Shawshank Redemption, Lost in Translation, Life of Brian, The Rocky Horror Picture Show

you want people to know your taste is a little more distinct and sophisticated than an average person but you don't watch anything outside of top 500 imdb list

John Carpenter's The Thing
Interstellar
Signs
Kung Pow! Enter the Fist
The Invitation

>In Bruges
>Snatch
>LOTR FOTR
>The Truman Show
>Oceans Eleven 2001

You can only include series of movies as one entry if you take the whole series, you can't just leave off the third godfather

Five is way too many; we should post one movie per genre

Attached: 1505441341110.jpg (1000x667, 770K)

I guess I'd put the whole trilogy in 4th or 5th place, then.

so basically they enjoy the crème of the crop of movies that exist outside of pretentious underground pseud-porn arthouse faggotry?
sounds like a good thing

Okayish, I'd rate your picks 6/10.
A little better than the above one, I'd give you 6.5/10.
About the same with OP, okayish all in all. 6/10.
Nothing too daring in the list, also some recency bias. I'm giving you a 5+/10.
The worst of the bunch, not only is Chazelle there, Refn was also included. 4-/10
Even the "patrician" films included in this meme list are just barely passable. Watch more films. Not bothering to rate.
Films aren't that great, but list is genuine. 6-/10.
A little too much indulgence in the world of animation. 5/10.
Incidentally, the last third of the Third Man was only passable, the first 2/3 was absolutely forgettable.
Safe choice for Ghibli, it's either Mononeke or Spirited Away, contrarians pick Castle in the Sky, not knowing there are more than just three Ghibli films.

1. A Night At The Roxbury
2. Cool Runnings
3. The Naked Gun
4. Joe's Apartment
5. Air Bud

>Fellowship
>Empire
>Princess Bride
>Jaws
>Halloween

1.) American Psycho
2.) Blade Runner
3.) Drive
4.) Buffalo '66
5.) Trainspotting

1. Dazed and Confused
2. Withnail & I
3. Hunt for the red october
4. LA confidential
5. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind

Kill Bill

Wake in fright

t. moron who's pissed because he didn't know the real history and needed someone to tell him Amadeus is a work of fiction

1. Cobra (1986)
2. Robocop (1987)
3. Death Wish (1974)
4. Commando (1985)
5. Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky (1991)

I forgot to mention The Boys From Brazil, very underrated little kino.

I guess in no order:
Interstellar
The Fountain
Mad Max 2
Leon
Terminator 2

this faggot only likes shots lol, I liked Riki-Oh though.

1. au hasard balthazar (1966)
2. it's such a beautiful day (2012)
3. idi i smotri (1985)
4. zerkalo (1975)
5. lilja 4-ever (2002)

(#1 picture imo that doesnt make the list as its more a documentary than a traditional film would be pic related)

Attached: Screenshot_20200302-205956_Letterboxd.jpg (980x1504, 653K)

If we count animu too then I'll take Akira, GITS and Mononoke instead of The Fountain, Leon and Interstellar.

The Straight Story
Cul-de-sac
My Neighbour Totoro
Rita, Sue and Bob Too
The Remains of the Day

>and does it with yank accents for some bizarre reason
literal pleb opinion. Forced posh accents in non-British environments have ruined costume dramas for decades

Here's my top 20

Attached: 1583108832238.png (657x831, 957K)

Peak manchild who thinks he watches serious movies but can't discern between actually good movies and capeshit.

Right Kubrick, wrong Lynch.
Lost Highway > Mulholland Dr

Right Lynch, wrong Kubrick
Lolita > Barry Lyndon

Correct

>plethora of kino 80s action
>no Die Hard

Attached: 755123629089082268071597650.jpg (496x327, 21K)

!. Terminator 2
2. Whiplash
3. Rush Hour 2
4. TDK
5. Scarface

5. Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
4. Videodrome (1983)
3. Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972)
2. The Devils (1971)
1. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920)

youtube.com/watch?v=RhvVog_3v4U

Die Hard was the movie that changed 80s action from supermen killing a million bad guys into a believable normal guy running scared from terrorists but ultimately prevailing. Of course someone who prefers the former would not have Die Hard on their list.

They'd go with the shitty Steven Seagal rip-off where he's another unstoppable superhero just pretending to be a lowly cook, walking around slapping bad guys into submission.

Show hands, Jamal.

KINO LIST COMING THROUGH
1 LOVE EXPOSURE
2 THE KILLER
3 STREETS OF FIRE

What a brainlet thing to say

Let me guess, you hate it for being historically inaccurate

>stupid cunt
>too afraid to post his list
typical

1. Big Lebowski
2. Pepe le Moko
3. Mulholland Drive
4. Apocalypse Now
5. Double Indemnity

Good meme.

Under Siege is always touted as his "one good movie" but it's fucking awful as well, and I hate it that people always suggest it as a follow-up to Die Hard. McClane has to run away from the terrorists with military hardware several times, and he gets more injured and exasperated as the movie goes on. He just wants it to be over. He's human. Meanwhile Seagal's character doesn't change in any way as the movie goes on, even when he's meant to be hurt his demeanour doesn't change in any way because Seagal can't even act on the level of a school play. How does he deal with a corridor that the ex-military terrorists have turned into a kill-zone? Does he crawl through some hidden passageway in the ship to outmanoeuvre them like a commando? Nah, he just walks down the corridor and shoots them before they shoot him. They couldn't even have him be a simple cook who saves the day, like John's a simple cop who saves the day. Instead he's some kind of decorated super-soldier that the bad guy knows he should be worried about, just hiding out as a cook to fit the superficial Die Hard start template.

fuuck I forgot The Long Goobye in this list, it’s top 3 at least for me

>posts a cartoon in a list of serious films

Attached: girls_laughing.png (449x401, 490K)

Without prentiousness or dishonesty:
>1. The Prestige
>2. Naked (Mike Leigh)
>3. 2001: A Space Odyssey
>4. Alexander
>5. The Great Beauty

Attached: 1525695125989.jpg (1920x1080, 201K)

The picks that I singled out are not that great and surely don't need an "legitimate authority" to confirm that. You had some okay films there as well. Here's my top 10, since 5 isn't nearly enough to construct a satisfying picture.
1. Innocence (Lucile Hadžihalilović)
2. Passion of Joan of Arc (Dreyer)
3. Why Has Bodhi-Dharma Left for the East? (Bae Yong-kyun)
4. Autumn Sonata (Bergman)
5. The Road Home (Yimou Zhang)
6. Woman Under the Influence (Cassavetes)
7. Mirror (Tarkovsky)
8. La Vita é Bella (Beningi)
9. The Emigrants (Jan Troell)
10. The Tales of Beatrix Potter (Reginald Mills)

>Passion of Joan of Arc
DUDE CLOSEUPS AND NO MAKE UP LMAO
DUDE DIAGLOGUE CENTERED PLOT IN A SILENT FILM LMAO
shit taste

1. The Godfather
2. Das Boot
3. Fantasia
4. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
5. Alien

magnolia
superbad
american graffiti
inventing the abbotts
cannibal holocaust

Hurt locker

Men in black

Buffalo 66
Yi yi
Sang sattawat
Zui hao de shi guang
Mirror
La grande bellezza
Cheung foh
A History of Violence
Kairo
Dog Soldiers

Okay I'll contribute:

1. Resident Evil: Vendetta
2. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
3. Fast & Furious
4. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
5. Smokey & the Bandit

True Detective s1 as one cohesive piece of media is miles better than any movie or series of movies

Open your heart and you know this to be the truth

Trying WAY too hard to fit in here kiddo.

>Apocalypse Now
>Solaris
>Whiplash
>Ran
>The Seventh Seal

It changes from time to time but those are the ones I can think of right now

Other than Buffalo 66, I don't see it

>1. Dazed and Confused
Fucking based

The Act of Killing (2012)
The Prince of Egypt
Fight Club
Prometheus
Forgetting Sarah Marshall/Get Him to the Greek (The Russell Brand Cinematic Universe, RBCU)

I've watched and loved thousands of films, and these aren't what I'd consider the BEST, but they're my favorite. Once they're on it's always been a blast; I've watched each dozens of times

Is it so that you've only seen one of the films I mentioned in that list? The reason I felt I was authorized to say something about those lists was because I had seen every single one of those films. Also, all caps criticism doesn't look good on you, makes it look like you're lashing out of anger rather than actually criticizing the film, which makes me wonder if you actually have anything bad to say about Passion.

>fit in here
Yea Forums is mostly capeshit and top 250 imdb, his list is pretty normal what the fuck are you talking about

>Apatow shit
WHY

1 - It's Pat: The Movie
2 - It's Pat: The Movie
3 - It's Pat: The Movie
4 - It's Pat: The Movie
5 - It's Pat: The Movie

>DUDE CLOSEUPS AND NO MAKE UP LMAO
>DUDE DIAGLOGUE CENTERED PLOT IN A SILENT FILM LMAO
>shit taste
basic capeshiter trying to cope with his manchild taste

They're fun. It's movies for people who have friends, not for people who watch everything torrented on their PC at their desk

>Because Salieri and Mozart were at worst amicable colleagues
it is not a biopic, it's a reimagining of both characters, also based on rumours, that doesn't change the fact that is a perfect movie and the director's cut was also great

No, you’re not playing the “lol you’re pathetic and I’m awesome and fuck 5 girls a day” card when you’re posting on the same Vietnamese glue huffing board as I do and you just said you’ve literally seen thousands of movies. All to rationalize your enjoyment of some of the worst comedies made in the last 50 years. Fuck off you actual 40 iq trog.

1. Paprika
2. Seven Samurai
3. In Bruges
4. Parasite
5. Suspiria (Argento)

This would be good if you weren't ranking EoE at number 1
This is the most disgracefully embarrassing list in the entire thread
A fine list for a plebeian pedestrian
Your taste is impeccable

>tfw don't even get a response calling me a fag
I wonder whether it's because it looked like a shitpost, or whether there just wasn't an easy way to call me pretentious or retarded.

Well at least 2 and 3 are good.

There's really nothing to say about someone who lists Pat: The Movie 5 times

Honestly if you have never seen or unironically don't like Kon's work I couldn't give two fucks about your opinion.
Suspiria is definitely weaker than a whole lot of films I've seen but the atmosphere of the film keeps me coming back.

They’re Chinese cartoons bro. Relax.

>Rush Hour 2

Patrician

list?

True connaisseurs, y'all niBBazz ain't shit.

>vietnamese glue huffing board
Fucking LOL that meme never gets old

I'm the guy that posted the list you originally responded to, and uh, Apatow's films are pretty cozy when the scripts are well written and carried by actors who get comedy. Russell Brand's one of my favorite comedians and FSM cancelled out the converging incel transformation I almost went through when I started frequenting /r9k/ in high school. They're sentimental selections. Those movies are 95% performances, fun and fuckery; catharsis only comes in how clearly everyone involved is primarily fixated on making something easy to watch

Also I have no friends lol, still my faves

But that's an obvious shitpost. Mine wasn't.

You're no genius yourself. He has Bazza Lyndon as his no. 1, he probably just likes the 18th century.

In no particular oder:

Shutter island
The departed
Inception
Django unchained
Silence of the lambs

Apocalypse Now
Taxi Driver
Days of Heaven
The Sand Pebbles
Paths of Glory

Brazil
Aliens
The Thing (1982)
O Lucky Man
Royal Flash

>most embarrassing

Hardly, you pick meme movies like in bruges.

Robocop '87
Batman '89
Terminator 2
Batman v Superman
LOTR

Honorable mentions
rest of the terminator films, rest of the robocops, rest of the batman films, hobbit trilogy, wrongfully accused, beverly hills ninja, naked gun trilogy, austin powers trilogy, spiderman trilogy, pirates of the caribbean, Blade runner, The Mask '94, Joker, Star wars (all), kungfu panda trilogy, Ace ventura, tommy boy, man of steel, watchmen, superman 2.
at least those. there is many others, especially cartoon animations from DC, disney and old pixar.

if movie isn't exciting, action packed and at least little bit of fun, what's the point of watching it. i really see no reason. after i grew out from my teenagers i noticed that i go for more lighter movies. now in my late 20's i just want to be entertained with a nice story, always plus if they have some mysteries there leaving something to the audience to think for themselves.
