why the fuck did they CGI the dog?
Ford checked out years ago. You think that nigga has the patience to work with a real dog? Unfortunately ghe dog is supposed to be the star of the show so now they have no movie.
What was dog's name again?
Why do so many movies underperform, lately?
oversaturation, i think
there's simply too much to go out and see, and that doesn't even consider all the stuff coming out on streaming services
Average person goes to see like 1 movie per year, and everyone was already brainwashed to see Sonic earlier so yeah
not too mention back catalog, im still getting to some films from 2019
People don't seem to be just seeing new movies every month or a few like they used to. Mostly, people appear to wait for big releases, like something to do with Star Wars or superheroes.
Saturated markey
Nothing is "the thing" outside forced marketing anymore. Look at how quickly the avengers fad died, how little people cared about Star Wars.
They just don't make em like titanic anymore.
cuz they all unironnically shit, even normies start noticing something
great point
hell, i finally watched endgame just the other week (it was okay?)
Thing about dog movies is they're abundant and cheap. They don't normally cost 125 million dollars.
why are almost all movies about dogs just terrible
basically only homeward bound was good
Get an actual dog in your dog movie next time ffs.
Why cant we have films like white fang anymore?
youtu.be
How did Family Guy manage to so accurately summarize dog movies?
There is a lot of dogsploitation shit but there are some good ones.
>the exact same dog is used twice
name some please
because the only thing i can think of, again, is homeward bound
Real dog kino coming in
this girl i went to high school with was on the crew for this movie.
shes all posting pics of the set and animals while im slinging boxes at fucking amazon.
>think she worked on at least one of the ant man movies as well.
gotta go get my shit together Yea Forums
The funny part about these dog films being posted is reading the cast names at the top.
It's a who's who of dead ass careers
They all look extremely bored.
its just so much weaker than Infinity War
>make a film about a man and his dog
>100% CGI dog
That’s why it flopped
This is what happens to bad puppers
deathaddict.co
>sad sad sad sad ACTION SCENE sad sad sad sad ACTION SCENE CLIMAX sad sad
Indeed it was
White fang, the Beethoven movies, Turner & Hooch
me on the left
Red Dog
big budget = big bet
most studios prefer to make a 4-quadrant blockbuster and potentially win billions than to make a one-quadrant decent movie and win millions
The only exception is horror.
>Look at how quickly the avengers fad died
???????
Fox and the Hound was good IIRC. So was Oliver and Company. They're both cartoons though.
Release the no dog version and I'll buy a ticket. That shit would be hilarious.
Yeah, them being cartoons makes it not quite count imho
Solid films for sure though
I honestly want someone to make a movie based on the Army Dog greentexts. Just a platoon of normal humans and a dog that commits horrific war crimes. It's got dark comedy kino written all over it.
CGI is expensive. add that to the cost of trying to make a blockbuster-quality film
I liked Balto as a kid and somehow didn't end up being a furfag. Haven't seen it in a long time though so no idea if it's actually good.
Unironically kino
>not "He's been everywhere, mate."
why does this make me so fucking mad
Good riddance, cats are way better.
Watched it in school.
gfy
overinflated budgets
Bingo was kino
Muttmerica should have finished the job
>someone is just spamming dog movie posters that no one asked for or no one's replying to like a fucking autist
I actually clicked on every one of them. Fuck you
I may not have asked for them but I saved everyone of them you nigger
Hollywood Accounting
China is too busy killing a leaked bioweapon so no international money
Nobody really innovates anymore in Hollywood
>wtf why won't people watch all these uninspired by the numbers rancid shit flicks
I dident even know this movie existed. I would have gone to see it
t. Cat
Nobody wants to watch cat movies.
This movie had no excuse for being as ugly as it was. After watching it, I had to watch the “All Gold Vally” story from Buster Scruggs to wash out my eyes.
>all those shit posters
just sit and learn from the best animal kino until this day
>watching it,
shigs
That cat looks perfectly smug. As it should.
The dog had human proportion eyes that's why it looked so unnatural
People dont see crap, especially as so many americans are poor they dont have disposable income to spend on movies
The studios are making fewer and fewer movies as they concentrate on the big blockbusters, like this 125 million dollar turd
dogs are the least kino animal
I knew it was going to be ass. The dog looked too cartoonish just from the previews, but I expected it to at least be *pretty* trash. It failed at even that.
the rate I heard is 4, but that was years ago so you could be right now
no that's humans
>jon voight
>chevy chase
kek
Ya'll niggas need Wolf Kino
mutts want to watch capeshit and mutts loathe the animal type of mutts
Good. Fuck dog movies
Another Disney flop. Kek.
Man that book was boring as fuck.
agreed
harrison ford was the reason i didnt go see that movie. call of the wild is a classic
Yes the Avengers fad is dead. After a decade it left no real cultural impact now that there isn't a new movie coming out everyone has forgotten it.
now this is film-making
Why doesn't Harrison Ford just lead a comfy retirement life?
A wholesome tale about the humble nobility of the adventurer and the friendship he shared with his loyal companion as the strive against the sublime danger of the wilderness. No wonder it failed. People can barely understand Jack London in 2020.
Its shit friendo, thats the only reason it failed. Also like another poster said, dogs aren’t kino at all
Napoleon is the best dog movie. Prove me wrong
nobody fucking cares, nerd
you've never even been hiking before
It's not
dogs BTFO again, white women loses this one boys
Its been a long ass time since I read the book but I'm pretty sure the dog was supposed to be a high value purebreed
What is it with Americans and dog movies.
"THE HECKIN PUPPERINO" except not a dumb meme
it's real
I remember this making me sad as a kid. No idea if its still good
Making movies that nobody cares to see.
Ford spouted some Hollyweird liberal bullshit and alienated precisely the kind of people who pay to see G-rated dog movies
It wasn't dogkino, it was dogshit
>ghe dig
HagshahahahahahahahGHGGahahahahahaqhahahahahahahahahahahha
>get an army dog movie
[spoile]>but it's directed by eli roth[/spoiler]
>"aaaaaahhhhhhh I fucking hate Star Wars"
>"fucking stupid goddamn nerds I don't even remember the name of the character I played fuck you"
>proceeds to play in a movie with a CGI dog
Is he genuinely retarded?
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY SHITTY MOVIES STARING DOGS
retard, "Call of the wild" is classic of literature. Any respectable actor would give a try to that.
I bet white women love these movies, if you catch my drift
>story set in Alaska
>film in California at a cost of 125$
What were they thinking
He should've walked when he knew he was working with CG pupper
>cgi dog
Good. I hope all piece of shit cgi dependent movies fail miserably.
Money laundering
>wrestling tier moves
lmfao, have these people actually seen real dogs?

based COOFER chink
capeshit ruined the movie going public, it really is that simple
based capeshit
fuck moovees
> stupid ass looking CGI dog
> in the end Thornton doesn't get murdered by barbaric Native Americans and we don't get the kino scene of Buck getting revenge on his killers and then again at every anniversary along with his pack, traumatizing the rest of the tribes
Why even bother.
they don't underperform. Compare the ticket sales to the past and it's clear that this is not a crisis. The real problem is that movies cost a lot more to make now. Hollywood needs to stop approving such large budgets. At this point a small budget is more of a sign of quality than a large budget. In the past you could see a budget for a movie and be like ``wow this will be kino'' but today a large budget just means it's inflated
Movies with dogs in prominent roles usually only have them so they can die or get hurt in order to elicit emotions in the audience. It's cheap and lazy storytelling.
>brainwashed
Better Sonic than anything Disney, or whatever other garbage is usually out.
Exceedingly based
>Youtube Sensation Introducing Just Jesse The Jack & Jake
What fucking cat movies even are there? Apart from the one about the space cat which is kino. And cat's eye which is also kino.
I guess this just shows that dogs are for plebs.
>golden receiver
-record scratch-
Yep, this is me.
fuck dogs
what is some cat kino?
Hollyjew is creatively bankrupt.
Are people really this mad that they didn't hire a dog
That's a lot of mutts!
I think they are pretty much all animated because trying to direct real cats is like well.... Herding cats.
I watched this movie when I was away, astray but on track to what I think will be the best of times when I'm on my own. So if I may, I'll say yes, I am the player, always on the move, I'm strong when I'm all alone.
Emma?
Dog is very much on the chopping block.
He strikes again!
Is there a dog more based than Buck
>gets abducted from his upper class home
>sold and forced to be a sleddog
>gets bullied by the alpha sleddog
>ends up fighting and killing the lead dog and becomes the new alpha
>refuses to cross a frozen lake
>gets taken in by mountain man and watches his previous owners and all the dogs fall into the lake
>live with mountain man for a bit but ventures out and starts hanging with a wolf
>comes back and mountain man killed by natives
>murders all the natives and becomes a horror story for the rest of them
>meets wolf pack and kills alpha and becomes king shit
Also rip Skeet and Nig, they were good dogs
My dad was so excited to see this until I noted the dog was cgi. He got depressed and skipped it.
Boycotts of (((hollywood))). Whites are waking up.
Haven’t you seen the dancing cat video? I heard that was real
Because Hollywood shits out way too many movies that they try to make "Blockbusters." Just a decade or two ago, big budget movies came out like a couple times a year of even that, and everybody went to see them. Now they've got 8 new big budget movies every fucking week and they expect just as many people to go see every single one of them. They're idiots who don't understand supply and demand.
You're an idiot who doesn't understand money laundering schemes.
Balto
Disappointingly low amounts of dog pills in this thread. Expected more from Yea Forums
> Imagine owning something like Bingo on LaserDisc.
>get a trained dog
>get some unknown old actor
Boom, done for 2 million
Wow you must know a lot about movie financing
Boom, right in the bargain bin.
But this movie has a male lead?
/pol/ and Midnights Edge said only lady movies flop, how did this happen?
Hollywood nepotism can go so far
Non-humans are honorary roasties? I'm not a Party member (failed the test twice) so that's just a guess.
That shit was fucking gruesome.
I always thought this scene was a bit too much for a kid’s film
I watch at least a hundred movies a year but I haven't been to the cinema since 2006, nor have I paid to see one on any other platform.
Plenty of people like me and they grow every year.
Don't pretend like anyone here does either I don't believe you.
CGI dog turned me off.
Good. That fucking retarded video game dog pisses me off.
PETA and all the dogerino kissers would complain about animal slavery.
>Looks like dog kino is off the menu boys
>Still made twice the money as birds of prey
>Gets called a flop yet birds of prey somehow isn’t
What did journalists mean by this?
>not including Milo and Otis
I can't believe it. CG has finally become so advanced that we can actually have dogs in movies and yet it makes less money than a Jurassic Park movie. What is wrong with people, don't they want to see what dogs really looked like?
This. And also:
> gets all the wolf pussy and fathers a whole new generation of über dog/wolves
Based chad Buck.
Because they lack soul. Too many movies feel like they are by business man instead of artists. You will always be able to count the number of modern films in theaters worth watching every year with each of your ten fingers, if not just five fingers.
True dogkino coming through.
Tfw I'll never be that cool :'(
No one cares unless it is a Marvel Superhero movie or Disney. You have to have something really big to get people to see your movie now.
Chinese aren’t going to the theaters because of the virus.
>or Disney
???
For them it's still ok to eat dogs, something tells me they weren't going to watch it en masse anyway.
Do you only know the most basic memes or something?
You never watched veideo like this?
Never heard of the Yulin Festival?
What the fuck has this got to do with what he said? You're missing the point. You're just playing word association like a toddler.
you're absolutely right
milo and otis was great
Newfag
>Money laundering
Could you explain more on this? I'd believe it, but I'd just like to know more.
Level with me bros, does she?
Not him but if you get a budget of $50M and only spend $20M then you have effectively laundered $30M. Assuming the movie makes the remaining $20M you are clear and the rest is profit
My point was that in China they can still legally do shit like that to dogs and cats, so a dog movie would probably have less "aawww doggo" effect like those movies have in the West.
From what I understood his point was that Chinese eating dogs is just a meme. If I got it wrong then my bad, honestly.
And yes, of course I know that the majority don't do it, but the problem is those free to do it.
Pretty decent movie.
I’m clicking everyone and find it interesting to see just how much dog schlock there is out there. What a bizarre genre of film
Cats, as in so many other things, are about quality over quantity.
Fucking kek.
This is what you get for insulting Star Wars. Hope you learnt your lesson.
Grow some tits.
My point is he seems to base all his reasoning on a barely related meme. Does he believe Chinese people don't keep dogs as pets or something?
Harrison Ford is Jewish you lefty brainlet
Quality catkino.
Why is he so smug?
Felidae is pretty good desu. I read the first two novels a lifetime ago.
Cats are harder to do "cat movies" for. Dogs are easy to train, you can just hire a trained dog to do something cute and slap a template plot around it.
"Hockey Dog", or something, the dog carries a hockey stick in his mouth and does some tricks, and there's some plot with an evil businessman or something. There, done, hire Eric Roberts and go direct to digital.
Cats are harder to train, and they're much smaller, so they can't do things like carry around a hockey stick pretending to play hockey. You don't get many "performing" cats. They do cute stuff but it's usually spontaneous, which is why they're huge for cutesy internet videos but not for actual films.
Can't imagine anyone who would want to watch a movie about a dog, where the dog is fake.
YOU
JUST
KNOW
People sleeping on this masterpiece baka
are there no more original ideas left for dog movies
Holy hell.
in short you have to make a "real movie" if you're doing a cat based film, you can't do the bargain bin Dog Does Thing crap, so they don't do them
Don't mind me, posting recent dog movie kino
Otherwise you get this where the cat doesn't even do anything
sup wooo
Is that Dusty Rhodes?
Don't mind me, just posting the best movie about sheep dogs.
Most are less interesting than watching youtube.
And the one on the poster isn't even the same cat in the movie lmao
Based I think there's a sequel but never saw it
More dog movie posters please
Beed
except you know the third sequel that came out a little over a year ago that was almost the highest grossing film of all time
they don't just hand out easy make-work jobs to white men, user
pretty alright if I recall. I don't remember anything past the 1st act though
How did he do it?
Let me guess, the disneyshit version has nothing of that?
Most of it is in. Why would it not be?
>he didn't pound her fortune cookie
missed opportunity
everything feels too much the same.
Either you have another flavor of the month superhero movie, and obvious kid friendly bait movie or some shitty "this is my dream drama" movie.
I don't even know what the films nominated in this awards season were even about, and i don't really care.
Do you know what cultural impact is?
Awesome , they deserve it for using a cgi dog
>adventure genreshit
>classic
Lmaoin @ american literture
im having a hard time figuring out if those dog posters are real or if some are just fake.
Movies underperforming isn't a new thing, the entire logic of any cultural industry is that one can never truly know what will be a success and what will be shit until it hits the market (very much like in The Producers), that's why studios make movie catalogs, so that even if half of their movies are failures, the other half can provide enough profit to sustain them, though there is a recent intensification of the hit movie strategy, so lots of movies now have inflated budgets for what they are going for, thus when they fail, they fail spectacularly.
Dog is always on the menu. Like bats.
Dude Wheres My Cat
Just watched half of the trailer.
Uncanny valley leads to lack of empathy leads to lack of emotions leads to lack of interest leads to lack of revenue.
His name was Robert Barkson.
Tell me this is fake.
>why the fuck did they CGI the dog?
Must have been some mistake, the obvious choice was to CGI Harrison Ford.
Imagine watching all the scenes with Harrison unedited with an old dude petting, playing, and comforting a man in a skin tight suit acting like a dog.
I really liked this one, shame it's not talked about often on here.
Dunno, but I went to see it, and it actually looks better in the movie than in the trailers.
>animals reacting like humans
Oversaturation of garbage that no one wants to see.
It's the future. I have no mouth but have to scream.
No one mentioned Togo?
Meow.
Little Stinker
Jesus, her career is really circling the drain eh boys?
Woof...I guess...
FEEL THE EXCITEMENT
>sir I got lost on the way to obedience school
Fucking kino.
Get your rate up
Fewer people are going to the movies because there is more entertainment now. Back in the day your options for entertainment were go to the movies, watch whatever was on the handful of tv channels you got, listen to the radio, read a book, or not consume media. Now that the barrier to content creation is so much lower there is significantly more of it out there. There was a guy who loved underwater basket weaving. He used to go to the movies periodically because that was all there was to do. Now he stays home and watches youtube videos of underwater basket weaving all the time. People are self segregating into niche forms of entertainment instead of going to see the monolithic movies of yesteryear.
what the fuck is wrong with their faces?
I feel like this is a nightmare.
But also there are still lots of successful movies, and lots of unsuccessful movies. This hasn't changed.
Theatrically released box office blockbusters are becoming a thing of the past with the advent of streaming service media. And it's about goddamn time if you ask me.
>>Theatrically released box office blockbusters are becoming a thing of the past
Uh-huh. Sure dude.
>shes all posting pics of the set and animals
wait, did they use real animals and then CG over them?
That seems wasteful.
No they aren't you fucking idiot. The biggest blockbusters are doing the most money ever right now. And I don't want to hear any shit about muh inflation or muh tickets. Money is money. Disney just made 11 billion dollars in box office gross last year, the highest of any studio in film history.
The market has changed, but it's affecting TV more than it is the cinemas.
Dead or alive, you're giving me treats.
isn't there like a weird grooming scene about how if an adult starts fingerblasting you you can just zone out to your "happy place"?
weird!
>happy place
I've always detested that term.
The scene of him going after the mailman got surprisingly violent
Oh boy, you haven't seen anything. Wait untill we get to the fully AI generated movies, then we can speak of saturation
nice T-72
>that scene where the dog reluctantly drives the tank over a captured taliban since his only alternative was getting shot by his tank commander for treason
kino
nope, I was there (background actor).. I saw it all mate
>Alright you mutts, do you wanna live forever?
>Woof!
Ooooh, somebody stop me!
>I don't want to hear any shit about muh inflation. Money is money.

Kristine DeBell, the non-union equivalent
Alphonso Ribeiro
There are multitudes of reasons why arguing about adjusted inflation for films is absolutely worthless, I'm not talking in general.
I guess they ultimately deleted it.

but did you KNOW Gone with the Wind has SO MUCH adjusted that it would make ELEVEN BILLION on opening day today
>100 pages long
>dogs killing each other or getting beaten to death every other chapter
>at the end the dog mauls an entire tribe of Indians and becomes a legendary figure
I hope they didn't make you read the fucked abridged version that cuts out all the violence
>and everyone was already brainwashed to see Sonic earlier so yeah
That movie hasn't even made 300mil yet, it's 265mil after 3 weeks. Stop pretending it's anything more than a very modest success.
Yea Forums users really have a very overinflated opinion of themselves huh?
True and based
ya like dags?
surprised there isn't 20 stroke-related replies to this like there usually is
I love dogs
I love Jack London
I love white fang...including the movie.
I don't care if it was an average kids movie....I loved call of the wild
I wish there were more movies about dogs
Disney. Will. Be. Bankrupt. By. 2030
It's had plenty, millenials who Thanos is, every kid everywhere knows who Iron Man is, and multiple TV shows have done parodies. Even if you ignore all that, the MCU basically jumpstarted the whole shared universe craze, and revitalized the superhero genre in film which is why you have multiple threads complaining about capeshit here every week.
