Kekkai Genkai have always made ninja with them inherently stronger than those without them.

also, his "drivel about hard work" was directed to Neji, another ninja with an extremely strong Kekkai Genkai. you make it sound like he said that to a ninja like Rock Lee with no inherent talent.
