Not utterly terrible, surprisingly.

So this is where transformation fetish comes from...

Where else?

That and probably a penchant for having horrific stuff happen in children's books.

>only book #1
How long before book #3. I want to see Rachel act romantic with a Hawk in full color.

While I'm glad this series is still around, I just don't see how they can properly adapt a good chunk of the story.
Like, a huge element to entire thing is how the main characters can get physically brutalized while not actually dying. It's not just a detail you can really ignore, it impacts every character. The trauma of having to hold in your own internal organs from falling out, using your own bear arm as a bat, Ax's tail slicing through countless fingers, ripping someone's throat out as a wolf, Rachel just, in general.
It all has a big impact on the story, and for the characters, and was really only gotten away with because it was in text. You can get away with a lot of shit when it's in writing, but not when you have to draw it out and show the gory details.
That being said the fact they changed the artist to something that wasn't literal 'Tumblr style' ugliness already makes it immensely based in my book.

>Rachel just, in general.
Go on

Its okay. Theyre very close retellings of the books, but the art is a little mediocre.

Wait, this came out? I thought it was canned?

A huge part of Rachels character is that she is basically a blood hungry psychopath.
She's not only the most willing to fight character on the team, but when she does fight, it's fucking brutal. Her favorite morphs are a giant-ass brown bear, which you can guess is a literal killing machine, and an Elephant she uses to just crush her enemies. She's the one who used her own detached arm to beat her enemies to death. Jake, the leader of the group, literally uses her as a killing machine when a new member turned out to be a shitty kid because he knows she's the only one who would actually be able to kill him.
She's the type of person who, if they enter a war, they won't be able to come back. It redefined her. She went from a stereotypical valley blond mall obsessed teen, to the type of person a literal Galactic Satan would want on his side to cause chaos and destruction across the universe.
There was a reason she was the only one to die when the war ended and not everyone else. She couldn't come back to a normal life after the war, she couldn't even try and fail like Jake and Marco. Death was the only end for her because of just how changed she was.
It's just a lot to deal with and adapt in a visual media, especially one that kinda forces it to be a bit more kid friendly because more kids will get into it as a comic.

Storytime it. Art on the cover looks subpar at a glance but I can’t be one to judge since I thouroghly enjoyed the wings of fire storytime from last week.

Animorphs plot has a lot of filler but also a lot of striking moment so they’ll have lots of good shit to work with depends on execution like with most things.

>Go on
Rachel is the strongest fighter and warrior who more and more becomes addicted to combat degrading into a violent berserker and when she realizes what's going on signs up for what amounts to a suicide mission and actually does die before she fully turns into a homicidal psycho.

Eh, why not

Good description of Rachel, helps you appreciate how she was able to have a relationship with a hawk. Any idea of her life being normal anymore was just gone

I kind of want to see what gore looks like in the round-edged "tumblr" style now

Attached: RCO006_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 137.95K)

It's weird to have officially Yea Forums Animorphs threads and not 300+ posts before being deleted by a janny

Hey guys, I got the first thirty or so Animorphs books when I was a kid and I want to finish the series but the ghostwritten ones were hit or miss from what I've read. I want to skip over the ones that are crap or not important to the overall story, is there a reading guide?

Attached: RCO008_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 370.41K)

Honestly the only Animorph book to skip I'd recommend is the one that is randomly half a civil war story while the characters are all beavers, #47
Also I know I said this wasn't a tumblr artstyle but they do have the annoying noses. Still better then what we almost got though trust me. I'm talking about bottom of the barrel everyone is fat and hairy and looks nothing like the actual characters type shit.

Cassie and Marco look a bit too samey for my liking honestly.

Attached: RCO011_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 324.74K)

Wait, why is it four guys and a girl? I could have sworn there were two girls. Cassie and Rachel?

Attached: RCO013_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 347.32K)

That's Cassie on the right, they just went too far with her tomboyism

Attached: RCO014_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 310.1K)

Attached: RCO015_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 270.84K)

Oh, I’m reminded of the book where the Yeerks try to lure out Tobias by claiming Elfangor was his dad or something.

Attached: RCO016_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 295.72K)

Thanks for reminding me i need to reread the Hork Bajir Chronicles. I think I was too young when I first read it.

I mean, they aren't exactly wrong

Attached: RCO017_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 264.88K)

Attached: RCO018_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 272.41K)

Wait, that was real? I never read far enough into the series to see if that was outright confirmed. I didn’t have very many, and it’s been decades since I read the books, and I don’t even have them anymore.

Didn't know there was a graphic novel. I need to check this out.
Does anyone have the screencap/pasta with all the fucked up things in animorphs?
> That time they morphed an ant into a human, it started screaming then they turned it back and killed it

Attached: RCO019_1647585596.jpg (1029x1600, 306.65K)

Andalite Chronicles, user. Shit all the Chronicles were S-tier scifi.

Attached: hork-bajir_chronicles-475.jpg (292x472, 132.14K)

They did what? Why?

It was confirmed in the Andalite Chronicles, Which shows Elf's own teenage adventures in gore and horror and life long mental trauma

It was more the ant just, crawled onto the Cube, then crawled onto Cassie, and accidentally morphed into her

Attached: RCO020_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 288.2K)

Also, Rachel and Tobias look a lot alike too, but I'm not bothered by that for, well, pretty obvious reasons.
Not like it'll last after this first issue lmao

Attached: RCO021_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 295.44K)

Oh I thought she was the starfish one

Rachel looks surprisingly happy that an alien ship is about to land on top of them.

Attached: RCO022_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 356.39K)

She is, and that whole story is actually about the two parts of her personality. The blonde mall lover and the psychopathic war lover, and how one very easily overpowers the other. Both literally and mentally.

Attached: RCO023_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 302.8K)

There was that book where she morphed a starfish and some kid at the beach cut her in half with a plastic shovel so she started panic-demorphing only both halves demorphed and there were two Rachels for like a week, one smart but timid and unable to make decisions, the other cruel and strong and brave and a bitch.

Considering that it's Rachel, not really surprising.

Attached: RCO024_1647585596.jpg (1029x1600, 296.26K)

applegate, what the fuck, girl

I never read any of the side stories. I did have one or two of the special books like the one where the group sent into prehistoric times. That one was one I particularly liked, even if the group did get an alien civilization killed.

Gotta say, Glad they went for the design everyone knows and loves for the Andalites and not the bullshit "Umm ASSKCHUALLY THE ART DOESN'T MATCH THE TEXT" version some people try to push, which just looks plain old ugly.

Attached: RCO025_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 253.32K)

So, basically the OG Star Trek episode with two Kirks?

My memory is fuzzy but it wasn't on purpose. The ant morphing in the first place was on accident. But it started attacking them because it couldn't handle free will.
Rachel somehow already looks fucked up

The thing I know about Animorphs is that it's filled with fucked up hyper interesting unique stories, is possibly ghostwritten a lot during the middle, and also not collected in any significant way so collecting it is a pain in the ass.

Attached: RCO026_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 310.34K)

What are they meant to look like homie?

There was also the time near the end where the Animorphs recruit a bunch of disabled kids from a cripple hospital and turn them into the Auxiliary Animorphs team. They targeted the cripples because it was the only way to ensure they weren't just handing morphing over to a secret yeerk, as yeerks saw broken bodies as not worth the bother to infest.
They get used as a cannon fodder distraction in the final battle, all gunned down.
Ahh the dinosaurs one is good too, that's one of the Megamorphs.

Attached: rachel.jpg (374x576, 36.88K)

Actually look

Attached: RCO027_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 320.79K)

I see the cripple force brought up a lot but I also see people say it's not really focused on that much, but I can see how it sticks with you forever

Post went through because I forgot to turn off the automatic lmao.
But anyways, the 'actually' was that I think it's Tobias who is so happy about the spaceship, not Rachel, which considering his family makes sense.
Good foreshadowing really.

Attached: RCO028_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 277.87K)

That's not Rachael, that's Tobias. The artist should have tried drawing their faces differently, they look too alike. Once Rachael loses her white earrings you won't recognize her anymore.

thanks anonymous

Absolutely ugly as fuck

Attached: RCO029_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 292.32K)

It's mostly because of the story that features them, there's a whole buildup to meeting them, explaining what's going on and getting them to volunteer. Then they have to go about getting the cripplecrew some acquired morphs, and once they do get to morph some of these wheelchair-bound kids get to run and jump and fly, one kid who couldn't speak gets to open up with thought-speak and finally be heard. When they demorph, they realize that genetic disorders/disabilities are not undone by morphing, while disabilities that happened to you are healed, so they all have to stay at the hospital to keep cover even though some are no longer disabled.
It's pretty fucked.

Like I said before, won't really be an issue after this book ends, but still a valid complaint. Way too much sameface going on.

Attached: RCO030_1647585596.jpg (1067x1600, 325.87K)

No problem. Animorphs threads are always my favorite and now that they actually properly belong on Yea Forums we can talk about it soo much more.
I hope they adapt the bonus books, like the time where Cassie got called a nigger to her face and turned into a polar bear (giant white beast) in response.
