They're rebooting Doctor Who! I used to love this shit, thoughts on the new trailer? Looks great imo, I don't see how they could possibly fuck this up!

It was alright for a miniseries.

CYBERMEN ARE NOT FUCKING ROBOTS
THEY DO NOT KILL HUMANS
THIS IS SHITTER THAN THE TIMELESS CHILD WANK

I miss this motherfucker like you wouldn't believe.

Holy shit, the Abzorbaloff was in this episode!

Eh, looks a bit too camp, although RTD is writing and all and he's a great writer. Maybe this is just the BBC out of touch with their trailers, I trust RTD even if I get weird vibes from him.

RTD will save DW when the new series with the metacrisis doctor and Rose gets announced

>Back when Doctor Who was just silly action packed adventures
>There were some basic episodes that weren't that deep but you could just switch off your brain and enjoy the explosions and the running and the screaming
>Still have some dark episodes that often deal with the Doctor's psyche.
>Low budget but that gave it a charm
>Big epic finales that end in Deus Ex Machinas but go all out.

Do you miss it?

Attached: Russell-T-Davies-Doctor-Who-600x337.jpg (600x337, 46K)

>literally nothing happened this series
>cybermans went nowhere
>timeless child went nowhere
>gallifrey went nowhere
what is even the point.

Then why do they have cyber in their name? "Cyber" is french for "robot".

ACED, L&M GREATEST PLEB FILTER IN THE UNIVERSE.

Same

>an entire show ruined by one retarded lore dump that could've been cut out and the episode would've been no worse for it
Seriously, when they were having the master "in two places at once", he really should've been in just one.

All organics will be deleted

youtube.com/watch?v=dSK1APQu6K4

Do you remember? How it used to be?

If you're going to massively change a series like this it has to be for a good reason. It should at least add an interesting new dynamic and stop things from being stale.
This literally just makes the doctor less interesting

I'M SORRY MOFFAT

Chibnall got his fanfiction promoted to official canon, and nobody can reverse it because it's not some off-medium movie/book/etc.

Chibnall even berated an audience allegory for caring about anything. I'm gong to wake up tomorrow and I'm going tomorrow and I'll be dreaming.

How long before Chibnall complains about the 'toxic fanbase'?

Attached: steaktub.png (749x932, 1.28M)

I swear Chibnall has no respect for any of the work his predecessors made.

Take the Master, with Missy's character arc of turning good then getting killed by himself because of it. Now Chibnall has just decided ignore all of that.

Also just completely retconning the entire 60+ years of Doctor Who 'cannon' because fuck you, i just got a big job so i must know what i'm doing.

All the characters are wooden as fuck, i have little to no emotional connection to any of them. And it's not even just the writing - that's only half the work, the actors have to put some effort in as well, yet it feels like they haven't even seen an episode of Doctor Who before.

God I just wish someone would restart it from when 12 began his regeneration.

>when the shows dying, it retcons itself, it changes
>BUT YOU CAN'T!

Attached: file.png (1920x1080, 2.81M)

Louder.

How many poundarinos will he ask for to unfuck this mess?

Protect Baby Pteed

Attached: Pting.png (720x360, 210K)

Thank fucking god I dropped this tripe halfway last season. Chibnall really crashed this plane with no survivors.

He complained pre-emptively in the episode but apparently he "doesn't go online."
Wouldn't be suprised if Chibnall pour boiling rabbit broth into that and ate it.

As someone who stopped watching after Matt Smith's run, I can not fathom the agony felt in this thread. And even with a limited understanding of Doctor Who, I can still tell how absolutely awful this is. Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, is no science fiction safe from hacks? What happened to all these series exactly? I feel like they just started to value blind loyalty more than anything. No more consistency or respect, no more good writing, just bullshit aimed at brainwashed shills who feel like they need to love everything from the franchise or else they aren't a real fan. These people will never demand better or hold shitty showrunners accountable. They just consume. When you have such a large and steady fanbase that you start valuing diversity and inclusion more than basic canon respect and consistency, your franchise is fucked. There's a place for inclusion, but it in no way should take priority over good writing.

Attached: 1582839205867.jpg (407x405, 79K)

If they got rid of the Timeless Child plot and just had The Master tries to turn the Time Lords into Cybermen that regenerate, that would have been just fine. Bam. Finale worthy plot right there. It's all that you need.

Nah, you helped make this shit happen by easing in the SJW framework going back from The Doctor's Wife.

What was the point? Even the people I see defending the change are going with “it isn’t THAT bad” instead of saying something positive about it

Attached: xianxia.png (2518x1024, 469K)

No your run was still still shit. Except for Season 5 and parts of 9 and 10.

Chibnall must have hated Moffat evidenced by all of the contradictions and retcons of Moffat's era that he has carried out. Is it envy? Did he want to take over after RTD?

Anyone agree that the timeless child arc would of actually been alright if the master was the timeless child? Literally keep everything else the same.

You should check the previous 3 threads we've had today.

>Do you miss it?
No, I prefer Moffat's run.

Moffat always thought things happening for years and years was more epic. Its why 11 and 12's lifespan was the same as 1 - 10 combines.

more than anything ever put out on telly and cinema

So when the Doctor said he could change 507 times he was unconsciously letting a small truth slip?

This is gonna be on the front page of reddit and spammed across blue checkmark twitter by morning, I can feel it

I've watched every episode of the classic and modern eras, every spin-off and I honestly have no intention of continuing to watch the rest of the Chibs run. I have about 8/10ths of Big Finish to hear and it can last me for years. If this is the way the show is being written now, there's no point, it's damaging. There are so many good stories to hear, and we've got Stranded in June. It's done.

>Cybus men returning still not explained
>Ruth having police box still not explained
WHAT ELSE?!

Attached: cybus.jpg (827x376, 40K)

All that build up to 11 dying on Christmas then being granted an extra load of lives by the Timelords is complete arsewank now?

Instead of lamenting the death of the series, let us remember the good times.
Post your favourite episodes from each of the regenerations.

Ruth is 14.

Tell me /who/ if your Doctor Who is so great...

Damn it I'm too pissed off by Chibnall to even joke about his run.

Attached: Dukat,_2369.jpg (500x500, 203K)

>next season, they replay the first meeting of the timeless child, but this time the camera pulls out
>There's a second child!
>cut to ruined Gallifrey, and a regenerating Master standing amongst the dead Cybermasters

Similar boat, I'll never contribute to ratings ever fucking again. I've barely listened to big finish stuff so that can last.

>Sci-Fi and fantasy is primarily consumed by nerdy males.
>Nerdy males mostly migrate to the internet and stop paying for TV and films
>Sci-Fi and fantasy quality massively drops
Hmmm

Attached: the-chase-bradley.png (982x529, 1.03M)

the cybus are back for the same reason that the RTD era daleks showed up again after series 5

Bravo Chibnall! Bravo!

Am I within my rights to go to /trek/ and do similar shinanigags?

how long before the articles lamenting the toxic fanbase of doctor who?

Reminder theres a parallel universe out there where Paterson Joseph was Doctor 13 and we're in an unprecedented era of kino
How do we get there

Attached: paterson joseph.jpg (666x1000, 73K)

>Cybus men returning still not explained
It was established back in the Smith era that these are regular Cybermen, just using the cybus design.

>Ruth having police box still not explained
Yeh, now one knows why, not even Chibbers I suspect.

That would be sort of okay, and explain why he was so goddamn angry at the timelords as well. But maybe it would have made too much logical sense so they didn't do it.

Attached: D87ECAD6-53C3-4CD9-857C-0DE8F589A841.png (300x214, 21K)

I'm reading his book at the minute. The writer's tale and it's amazing just how creative he is. Even the stuff he decided was daft and never used was better than the crap we're getting now.

I never thought I'd look back at series 9 nostalgically. It was my least favourite series 2 years ago. Now it's my third.

I'll admit if they make Ruth the 14th Doctor and someone who was willing to retcon the timelord shit was in charge I'd be down for watching a new season with her

Well, lads.

How did The Doctor wandering around aimlessly with Wilf for half hour now to bulk up the run time become a comparative stone cold classic?

So whats dumber?
Big Finish Lore twists or the Timeless Child

basically

Based . Was looking for this image fellow daoist

Let's not forget that the TARDIS team is STILL THE SAME after 2 seasons and I doubt any of them will be killed off in the Xmas special since there is no dramatic setup

If the miniature cyberman model from this episode goes on general sale I'll lmao my ass off.

I'd like to imagine Johnson running off from JLB, turning a corner in the car then hearing the TARDIS noises.

s9 had its flaws but it's looking better and better as time goes on.

Capaldi for Big Finish when.

Attached: AndThatsAlwaysGood.gif (500x245, 799K)

why is this nigga so shiny?

I think I'm broken. Time was I used to get really worked up about how shit everything I loved as a kid was but now I just don't care. All the things people have mentioned in these threads I sit here and I think "Yeah. Yeah, that is terrible." but it just doesn't upset me like it used to.

I think it's Picard that did it. I suppose I should be glad, if I'd watched this latest episode and I still cared I'd be pretty upset.

I guess it's just better to feel nothing at all.

cybus remnants conquered and merged with telos cybers

Yes. Join us in our mutual shitposting and sorrow.

>river song being born in the time vortex and being a timelord still not explained

This is standard operating procedure for the show.

BF releasing the boxset The Division: Tales from Doctor Who in 2026, starring Seylan Baxter

>Dirk Gently was cancelled
>This garbage got to keep running
It was better Who than Who ;_;

What did he do? I ain’t watched the episode yet.

I felt like Chibs wanted to kill someone this episode, and was like "too much already, I'll do it in the special". Thus the setups of "you're the best woman I know" leading to one of them leaving or dying. I'm still betting on Graham dying, Yaz staying.

Helping out was a minor matter, brother Daoist.

All of these are now canon.

Attached: Morbius.jpg (624x234, 23K)

characters and episodes and series will become dust, and the dust will become atoms and the atoms will become...retconned. The writers will continue breaking through the core at the heart of the show into every comic book, every audio book, EVERY SINGLE CORNER OF CANON. THIS IS MY ULTIMATE VICTORY, DOCTOR WHO FANS, THE DESTRUCTION OF THE SHOW ITSELF!

Attached: file.png (1221x679, 1.03M)

He pretended to be Moffat and tried to leave his mark on Who, but instead of tastefully doing it like RTD he ended up ejaculating over the lore like a Jackson Pollack painting

I'd take that right now. Ruth as 14th and the timeless child was BS made up by the master.

Not going to happen though. Chibs is determined retcon 60 years of who lore in his own image.

They had the perfect opportunity to wind things back a bit with The Doctor receiving his new set of regenerations. All they had to do was have the process be so traumatic that it caused partial amnesia and knackered the TARDIS. Cue 12s run being the comfy adventures of an eccentric traveller exploring the universe in his unreliable time machine, despite not knowing where he's been or where he's trying to get to.

>Davros, realizing he can't win in universe, becomes the writer of the show to destroy the Doctor on the meta level

The destruction of creation would have been a better fate than this

Briggs Finish is easier to ignore, so Timeless Child.

These things really give me the vibe to make Doctor Who abridged short videos just shitting on the writing.

BF will release Doctor Who: TIMELESS starring Jo Martin for 20 minutes in one episode and the rest is just River song meeting the Pre Doctor regens and a whacky sidekick!

The Master was lying about all of it, he wanted to make the Doctor into a killer with the death particle.

I think the most annoying thing about Chibs run is that some of his ideas are actually pretty good he's just that piss poor of a writer that he can't execute them well at all.

The concept of the Stenza is interesting one - a hunter race who pick a target on a planet and hunt them down, collecting body parts for trophies. But it was executed badly.
The Pting, this cute Stitch like alien that wrecks shit, is an interesting idea, executed badly.
Cybermen Time Lords is an interesting idea, executed badly.
Even the idea of the finale, that the way Time Lords get their regeneration is by torturing some immortal child and extracting regenerations from it - Interesting idea, executed badly. Didn't have to be the Doctor.

Imagine if instead The Doctor had to make the choice as to keep the child in this torture prison or kill it or some shit. I'd find that more interesting than "It's The Doctor"

Yaz has to stay because fandom has determined 13 to be a lesbian. Graham leaving is probably for the best, that way the show can be diverse with no White Male in the cast!

Yaz has been given a brand new House/Tardis? If that were me I'd be straight back inside and trying to fly off somewhere.

eternal /fools/ general.

I briefly thought they were going that route after 11's regen, with 12 not remembering how to fly the TARDIS and then mixing up faces.

>Cybermen Time Lords
Paul Cornell did it first.

THE DOCTOR HAS BEEN GINGER

I need to watch more of the classic series

1- Space Museum and Rome
8-TV Movie by default I guess.
9- Father's Day, Boom Town and Dalek.
10- Impossible Planet two parter, Family of Blood two parter, Midnight and Turn Left
11- Can't remember the specifics of his episodes much. Amy's Choice stands out.
12- Heaven Sent, World Enough and Time, and Extremis

I've watched other Doctors but not for a long time so I can't fairly say my favourites.

ZAGREUS INSIDE YOUR HEAD

Attached: Zag.png (600x876, 1018K)

New assistents suck ass. they have no meaningful relationship with the doctor. The doctor herself is way too kind and weak, when the doctor is supposed to be condescending and powerful.
It's all screwed up. Telling us the morbius faces are canon doesn't change that.

Bros, it's the perfect time to end the show. Infact, it already ended, it was either The Doctor Falls or Twice Upon a Time, take your pick.
Think about it, a character written during the course of 54 years by dozens of different writers, all continuing each other's works and expanding upon them, always respecting what was done.
From a mysterious old man to a swashbuckling adventurer, the character grew and developed always when needed, giving bits and pieces to the mystery until he became his full character.
It's very interesting how Capaldi's era is about confronting nostalgia and accepting who you've become, he gives a perfect ending to the character that began in '63.

And no one will retroactively ruin it and change everything for no reason whatsoever.

Attached: Doctor Who 1963 - 2017.jpg (570x274, 49K)

based dyslexic

(cont)
Actually I'd even go as far as to say that the companions on paper are interesting.
>Kid with dyspraxia who has to suddenly do all this athletic shit while adventuring with The Doctor
>The kid's Grandfather, going through loss, who has had a rocky relationship with his step Grandson so far, but the loss of his wife and adventuring with The Doctor causes them to get closer
>A police cadet who wants to help people, but is always given the dull jobs, and wants to be doing more.

They're not uninteresting ideas, its just Chibnall can't write them to be interesting. He just can't write sci-fi.

PLEASE IT WAS ALL JUST A NIGHTMARE FROM THAT EPISODE WITH THE NIGHTMARE GUY PLEASE THE DOCTOR IS STILL SLEEPING ON HIS SHIP SHE HASN'T WOKEN UP PLEASEEE

Definitely. Trek and Who are brethen in that they're Sci fi shows that have fallen from grace.

This wouldn't have fixed the writing at all, but I've always held the opinion that if they wanted to do a female regeneration, an older scottish/welsh woman would've been the best route to take.

I think S8 briefly ran with that idea - that 12 had no control over the TARDIS - before backing out. Like Deep Breath ending with 12 trying to take her home and failing, and the Telepathic Coordinates makes it variable that folks will land wherever it needed to. Alas.

When you think about it, after Twice Upon a Time. There really wasn't much more story to tell. The Doctor has had plenty of lives, he made it clear he wants to rest, he finds out Bill is okay, Gallifrey is safe somewhere, Missy is dead.

I always felt the first female Doctor should have been a badass grandma type.
Instead we got Ten on crack but without anything that made him good

>The concept of the Stenza is interesting one
It's just predator but boring.
>The Pting
I'll give that one, Pting is kino and very Doctor Who.
>Cyber Time Lords are an interesting idea
how?
>Regeneration coming from torturing an immortal god
I like it too

He's the definition of mediocre, his ideas are barely thought-out or explored. He's the death of meaning, his content is as souless as the most generic capeshit

Routine doctor who, not very challenging to watch

Attached: chibbers.jpg (480x360, 12K)

I really hope I've come down with the coronavirus and this was all a 106f fever dream

Vincent and The Doctor was a great one for 11.

just have someone who can't fucking run around. if they're forced to talk instead of run at a computer then the shows quality has to go up.

Exactly. What they should've done was to focus it more on the companion's story, ala RTD, and put the Doctor's focus in the background

They don't have C's on their breastplate, these are regular Cybermen after being incorporated into the cyberiad. Has been this way since series 5 or 6.

4- Genesis of the daleks. it could be better, but it's fun

5- Tried making my way through caves of androzani and do not see what people like about it, it's boring. but it's the only one i've see so...

6. The trial of a timelord season was cool. that's how you do matrix shit

8. Love the movie more than most of new who, love the audio adventures. love 8th more than anything

9. It's all a slam dunk with 9

10. Human nature/family of blood, Midnight, and Blink (needless to say)

11. same as 12. heaven sent

re-watching the show, why have writers totally forgot how to write over the past 5 years, the drop is so noticeable watching old shows

Because Tennant and Cribbins had brilliant chemistry.

The Pting was clearly meant to be the next Adipose in terms of cute villain where they could sell lots of plushie merch and funko pops, but it just didn't catch on due to the shitty writing of the episode.

I like Twice Upon a Time, but goddamn, if The Doctor Falls had the regeneration (as initially intended) it really would serve as the perfect Doctor Who finale. "Without hope, without witness, without reward.", trying to save a small "town" of people and hoping there would be stars at the end. NO PUDDLE, THOUGH.

Get the fuck out of here user you'll infect us all.

user, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!

Matt Lucas is the 13th Doctor, he's just having a bit of a wobble, this hallucination will end soon

When that episode with black woman who sat on bus was best of chibnall until the X factor music rise up started. Where is the time travel dude?!

Yeah maybe a final wrap up series similar to what they were doing with 7 and Ace where he trains someone to inherit the TARDIS, and thats how it wraps up. Or fuck it, Clara's still out there with a TARDIS.

What was the public reaction to this shit?

So when Clara jumped into the Doctor's timestream she didn't see any of her other selves? Not even a glimpse?
Christ, it's like each subsequent showrunner is intent of fucking up every bit of canon that went before.

Babylon 5 is still pure. I mean JMS made a lot of iffy spinoffs and movies but Babylon 5 is such a concrete and "Complete" ending that it's really easy to ignore everything but the show. And I can still appreciate old Trek and Who even though they've been molested.

Not sure which fall hurts more, Trek or Who. I almost think Trek just because utopian scifi's so rare it was a comfort. Who's silly enough that a regeneration or two and mass execution of all writers could get it going again and I wouldn't mind the bullshit. Vague continuity of the setting is more important to Trek so it would be harder to get it back on track.

Capaldi and Colin likewise have been on the show before snatching the role of the Doctor.
So have several companions, such as Freema Agyeman, Karen Gillan and Peter Purves.

This is what happens when you hand the show over to fanboys. Dr Who was always at it's best when it was just a vehicle for interesting sci-fi stories and the lore was just a way of loosey justifying them being linked together. Hand it over to a fanboys who all have a "vision" of what the show is about and your are inevitably going to have a clusterfuck on your hands.

Honestly, the idea that even The Master dies a death that so final just support that 12 is the last. Their entire friendship end on a tragic note with The Doctor never knowing his friend almost came back

All the reviews from the major online outlets say that it's mainly bombast and fairly meaningless revelations, which is entirely true.

So what you're saying is that Doctor Who died after JNT took over?

No because you're so forgetful I can't even remember what you sound like

BUT WHERE WAS MY BENNY!?

Attached: Doctor-Who-Featured-Image-2.jpg (1233x1211, 254K)

He's the only doctor i've met in person, and while he wasn't my favourite he was certainly one of the good ones.

>never knowing his friend almost came back
She did come back. He just didn't witness it.

Tell us about it user
I'm willing to bet it's better than Chibnalls

MILKY MILKY WARM AND TASTY!

even comedic parody Doctors play the Doctor better then Jodie
Fucking hell

Dead like your actress you cretinous hag.

>That kid at shool that got bullied for liking Doctor Who so he joined his local Doctor Who fan club to make friends but also got bullied there too.

I got to give it to Chibs, he played the long game for revenge

What the fuck

Well they did change all of canon then pretty much had Ruth come and say "Yeah you've had a bunch of lives before Hartnell, who the fuck knows how many I'm not gonna say. And who cares really you're still The Doctor and you can't even remember the past lives so it doesn't even matter."

cocoa butter

I was honestly looking forward to the 60th, just to see him again.
Now I dont know if I want it to be made

Not sorry, 'cause there were still a lot of flaws.
But,
Thanks, Moffat.

eccleskek was in the montage

Attached: file.png (1631x822, 1.07M)

It's definitely when it started. People like to forget that McCoys run was blatantly building to him being some kind of Gallifreyan Jesus.

>Not even one mention

Are they cucking him out of founding The Time Lords or was it because he just had nothing to do with Regeneration/The Division? I mean they didn't even mention him or Omega when talking about the discovery of Time Travel or building Time Lord civilisation.

Poor Jodie, first female doctor and given the shittiest writer as the front runner of the show.

time to bring in a new showrunner who will retcon The Timeless Child

Attached: enditfrog.jpg (593x640, 135K)

So was old Abzzorbalof and Pting.

I miss Davies episodes. Comfy tier.

>eccleston's face when he's in the montage

He's retconned, he never existed, because him giving the timelords regeneration messes with Chibnall's canon degradation.

Theres nothing 'poor' about it. Casting women/minorities is synonymous with shitty writing, it's not like theres an alternate timeline out there where Jodie got a good writer to work with. A good writer would never have cast Jodie.

The finale of this series has convinced me to give Moffat another chance. Watching the Eleventh Hour and it's much better than I remember. Is Series 5 the exception?

And this is why following long franchises kinda sucks. Though, this being Doctor Who, it managed to outlive itself several times and survived for longer than literally any other sci-fi TV or movie series. It's older than fucking Kamen Rider, it's older than fucking Ultraman (by a paltry few years, but still), and those have completely new main characters or even whole new settings every installation.

I'm sure this show will pull through again, but for now it's getting the same treatment as other big sci-fi that became pretty mindless checkbox cashgrabs. I'm not even saying diversity checkboxes, I'm all for that despite technically being the class enemy, it's more of a general token/trope checkbox without caring for the quality of the plot or many other aspects of production except for the purely visual one.

Bring on more original sci-fi- oh wait Netflix cancels everything after 1-2 seasons and other channels don't do it anymore. Time to remember how to read.

For the record, the cyber time lords were fucking awesome, and would have made for a great finale on their own without setting it up for too long as something that will, dramatic voice, change everything (while changing nothing of particular storytelling value, really).

So I dropped this show a few episodes after Capaldi regenerated.
Did I do right?

what is even going on now?

How was chibnall episodes in torchwood?

Always Scherzo. So simple, so effective.

The best part about Davies run was just how creative his setting were. The amount of really interesting world's or locations he pulls out for just an episode made the show very iconic.

Everyone liked S5. It was 6/7 where Moff's dumb overarching plot took over everything. Still a handful of good standalone episodes but the endless Silence/River Song/Trenzalore/Impossible Girl/Galiffrey arc was real tiring

I hope Another Life gets more seasons, I know 2 is confirmed.

>For the record, the cyber time lords were fucking awesome
No they weren't why not just give the guys armour and keep their intelligence?

HINCHCLIFFE AND HOLMES CONFIRMED DOCTORS

no longer exists in canon

9 was one of my favorites. Weak finale but strong episodes. 7 was my least fave because it was really disjointed and felt like two seasons in one with some really forgettable episodes. Also Clara had zero personality at the time apart from Impossible Girl.

11th hour is great
S5 is the best of 11's era for sure but even then it has some real stinkers

FUCK

DOCTOR

WHO!

Is Picard as bad as the new seasons of DW? I remember catching some episodes of TNG on our late 90s russian TV as a kid and loving it so I did want to check it out, but the things I'm hearing are making me hesitate.

>This woman and minority child did the important bit
>Oh, and someone else figured out time travel too, I guess. Not really relevant.

But they are all white
Apparently every pre-Hartnell Doctor was BAME

Ruth is 14, but we'll never see it after chibnall gets sacked.

Did you ever watch Voyager? If not then you won't care for Seven of Nine's involvement, which has become a fairly big thing

1. The Romans or the Web Planet
2. Power of the Daleks
3. Invasion of the Dinosaurs
4. Genesis of the Daleks
5. Caves of Androzani
6. Vengeance on Varos
7. Delta and the Bannermen
9. Aliens of London/WW3
10. Midnight
11. Vincent and the Doctor
12. Husbands of River Song

Steven Moffat: I'm going to slip a secret Doctor in somewhere, really mess things up

Chris Chibnall: you coward. you fool. hold my beer. infinite doctors who

Moff is absolutely fine, he's no different than Russel and at times better than him. Russel had retarded dumb shit, Moffat has self-indugent shit. I don't get the division between the fanbase besides pure preference
Overral they're both fantastic writers that did a good show, and that's more I can say about Chibcuck

If by as bad as Picard you mean disregards established lore and characters, completely ignores various bits of important information that have been consistent for years, blatantly ignores basic real world and in world science for the purpose of le epic set ups, and has unlikeable characters and shit writing then yes.

Attached: 1582578819168.jpg (426x590, 45K)

they don't care they're all watching only fools and horses instead

Same, for me I think it was Disney SW that did it, somewhere between TFA and now I just stopped caring.

Just watch DS9 and Voyager if you haven't already. Sisko is the best captain anyway.

eek

Capaldi has some great episodes. 8 is definitely his weakest. Honestly 10 works as just a standalone series really. It feels the one that people can just drop into and watch the most.

Take your favourite Doctor Who episodes and replace one word with: "Genocide"
Bonus points for classic Who.

Attached: Ace.jpg (600x300, 66K)

There was a token white.

Not a doctor though.

Picard as a character is completely different (and the reasoning is as botched as Luke in TLJ). The utopian federation there from the beginning? Nope, there's now crime, poverty, racism, etc.

who'd have thought that an unexplained 10 second clip from the 70s would give some legitimacy to that retconning shitshow

Do you miss me /who/?

Attached: did-you-miss-me-gif-3.gif (500x288, 192K)

>Sisko is the best captain anyway
I took a while to warm up to him, but I did really like him in the end. One of the big strengths of DS9 is having so few clinker characters. Basically just b*jorans are shit.

>1 The Tenth Planet
Not perfect but solid all round

>2 The War Games
Possibly the best classic Who story of all time. Does not feel it's length

>3 Terror of the Autons
Spearhead turned up to 11

>4 City of Death
Excellently paced. Perfectly written

>5 Mawdryn Undead
Fifth Doctor era is mostly shite but some decent performances and the Brig make this stand out

>6 Vengeance on Varos
About as gritty as low budget BBC sci-fi can get. The best of a bad bunch but the audio output is insanely good

>7 Survival
Not a big fan of the Seventh Doctor TV run but this is far and beyond the best and most consistent of them. If it's audios, A Death in the Family is one of the greatest Who stories of all time.

>8 The Night of the Doctor
Back for 10 minutes and he steals the show. Soft spot for Human Resources and Neverland though.

>9 The Empty Child
Hard to pick, but this one has always been a classic

>10 Blink
10/10. Perfectly written.

>11 The Impossible Astronaut
Excellent writing, brilliant direction, great performances and a top tier monster. Maybe it doesnt all pan out but the opening 2 parter is really something. (Hard to pick over Eleventh Hour and Christmas Carol though)

>12 Heaven Sent
Remember when Season 9 (bar Heaven Sent) was the worst thing Nu-Who could possible put out? Great times. Heaven Sent is excellent but everyone knows that

>13 .....uhhhh? Revelation, I guess?
It was possibly the most interesting and least offensive the series has been so far...

I dont get it. It seems like the doctor did not have any moral issues with killing the master and his new race and just did not want to die alongside them.

>Lets genocide Hitler
>Genocide of London
>Father's Genocide
>The Genocide Child
>Bad Genocide
>The Doctor Genocide's

Would he have been a better show writer than Chinballs?

Attached: 418px-Mark_Gatiss_by_Gage_Skidmore_2.jpg (418x599, 56K)

RTD and Moffat both have their pros and cons. RTD was great at making captivating and likeable characters but his plots often had rushed deus ex machina endings. Moffat was great at epic moments and could make memorable villains but often went overboard with the timey wimey bullshit and all of his female characters were the same.

> I'm not even saying diversity checkboxes, I'm all for that despite technically being the class enemy,

mega cringe

>the timeless genocide
>the caves of genocide

>The Genocide in the Fireplace

It means now they can make endless amount of the show and dont have to keep to any canon because while other regens kept few shards, they can no claim the X thing is from the erased time

Especially funny since this shit is retconning other shit like Omega and Rassilon

I mean its no coincidence that it happened during the era that Chibs watched, and that in interviews he said he's "had the idea for a long time."

He probably whipped out the old fanfictions from his safe and just submitted that to use as the finale.

I think the main problem is fundamental

RTD and Moffat are sci-fi writers
Chris Chinball is not.

Curse of the Black Genocide

Heaven Genocide sounds fun.

half way in the ep I expected the master to be the child or at least the parent. IMHO the doctor being the parent with master being the child would have been perfect

I'm still getting through Hartnell era, so far some of my favorite episodes have been Lucarotti's historicals (Aztecs, The Massacre), Space Museum was good fun despite the rather anticlimactic resolution, The Romans were hilarious, Reign of Terror really was terrifying, the original The Daleks was a better take on the Daleks so far than whatever it is that came later.

Honestly I more or less enjoyed everything except for Marinus, Myth Makers, and, strangely, most of the Dalek stuff so far despite loving the tin cans - I can see how Nation's episodes were epic in the 60s, but they just don't hold up all that well.

he made it out at least with one of them. i bet his tardis was close

P.S.

Chris Chibnall's previous writing experience when it comes to Doctor Who stuff. They looked at all their previous writers and this is who they chose. The guy who wrote these episodes.

Effectively turning their whole rivalry into a Lucifer and God-esque scenario? I could buy into that desu.

cybermans show up with a tiny tiny bit of potential. motivation turns generic and they are taken out like bitches

It would be generic as hell, but I imagine it would be way comfier and much more status quo focused

Where are you watching at?

WE

As an idea, and the suits. Yes, they could have been made more interesting than completely mindless zombies.

Maybe thats whats needed. Just a generic family show adventure, winding it back down from what Moffat and Chibnall made it.

I'll never forget his performance in Heaven Sent
AND THE SHEPHERD'S BOI SAYS

Attached: 1473264565232.gif (350x208, 753K)

I was thinking more about master being upset that he was used for experiments, etc and the moralizing doctor having darker origins as an explorer turned tyrannical statesman

Hungry Earth/Cold Blood was good for the most part, everything else was trash.

ruth is pre hartnell since she didnt know about sonics

>Only good episodes are a two parter in series 5.
Kill me, and kill Chibnall.

No, I missed you from the moment you left

I want it to be made because it would immediately show the fans exactly what's missing with 13 by sheer contrast

Personally I'd say it's worse. Picard and Star Trek Discovery represent the death of a mans dream and vision of a better future. Star Trek was wholly unique in its utopian outlook. Now that's gone and there is no alternative, there is no nice future where humanity has got it's shit together. No franchise does what Star Trek did.

At a basic level Dr Who is still the show it always was, even with tonight's revelations and the heinous writing.

>generic family show adventure
That's Doctor Who now m8

They didn't look at any of that. They looked at Broadchurch and the mere fact that he had written for Doctor Who.

Moff had a decent enough excuse of writing the story for Eccleston to connect 8 and 9, and then not actually having Eccleston there.

Current feelings.

Attached: 5e541b8e5799d.image.jpg (550x331, 16K)

Yeah, I agree. Doctor Who dont need to be complex. Just comfy adventures with like able actors and you're pretty much set

From cybernetic. They enhanced themselves with cybernetic augmentations until nothing but the cybernetics remained and the full procedure became standard for every Mondasian. The name is almost an oxymoron, because there isn't much of a person left underneath the prosthetics, and their mind is overwritten with an hivemind. The cyber parts completely override the man inside.

My headcanon is that cybermen could potentially simply multiply by building more of their chassis without tearing a humanoid apart first, but their core programming still dictates that they "save" all humanoid life from the weaknesses of flesh.

>Capaldi spent 4 billion years punching diamonds for this

He was "harder than diamond" for Clala

But the actor who played him said something vaguely problematic on social media so murdering him was completely justified.

I'm not making that up, that's why they killed him off.

It’s always sad watching something you love die, but this is something else. Probably the first media I ever got into, started watching since Ecclestone and ever since enraptured by it. I didn’t think it would get worse than season 11 but wow, just wow. Didn’t go out with a bang. Not even a whimper. But it’ll now fade away, shame.

Even Broadchurch 2 and 3 weren't as good as the first series. I mean they were good just not as good.

The Empty Genocide
The Genocide Dances

Moffat should have just let McGann be the time war doctor. He was great in the minisode and clearly would have been willing to come back. Didn't even look very old.

>Cyberwoman
Ah so Chibnal just has a fetish

BBC wouldn't let him do it. They insisted McGann wouldn't be a big draw for the 50th.

>If you have rebooted your series from cancellation... do not lose it again. Unleash the harshest criticisms on the worst of writers, but... protect your show. As I have fought to protect mine.

I'm just torrenting it since I'm geoblocked out of Britbox and don't want to mess with VPN just for that. Also I'm not sure if it had captions, and they help a lot.

Planning to splurge on The Collection BDs if they don't pop up anywhere by the time I get to those seasons. And after having watched 2.5 seasons I'm starting to understand why BDs for the first six may never happen, ever.

He supported Kevin Spacey and said 14 year-olds know what they're doing (about Kevin fucking some minor actor).

They looked at the ratings, I should have said.
And The Woman Who Fell to Earth got high viewership (even though only because it was a female Doctor).

>Did I do good, Yea Forums? Tell me. Was I good? I need to know... before the end. Am I a good show?

haha just me manipulating The Matrix again sorry guys!

Attached: valeyard.jpg (2400x1183, 569K)

I heard the story that by the time BBC cleared the rights issues with Big Finish it was too late to do anything but the minisode. Not sure if it's a myth and what said is the real reason, but regardless Moff would have likely used 8 or 9 if he could.

And that justifies his character being brutally tortured and killed.

Reddit hates it.

I didn't imply that, I only specified what happened irl. I think what the writers did was retarded. But that's inline with the rest of the show thus far.

Wait, Rassilon is no longer canon?

new who really needs him

>Ruth is the Valeyard

I'm Doctor Who.

Attached: ced.jpg (1280x720, 88K)

Just to be a contrarian fuck, that wasn't as bad as I feared, even if it wasn't good. Gallifreyan aren't the humans, and turns out they just got their regenerations from this Timeless Child, leaving all the rest of the Time Lord lore and time fuckery intact as something they discovered once they had longer lifespans. Ruth wasn't the 'first' incarnation of the Doctor, probably not even the 100th, but that little black girl might not have been even close to the Timeless Child's first regeneration either; and a little blond girl and a little white boy were amongst her first regenerations easing my woke-rage. The massive empty hole in it the matrix, and how little we were actually told, leaves a lot of room for retcons and fixes. This new and refreshed ENDLESS SEETHING SUICIDAL RAGE that the Master feels over owing his existence to the Doctor somehow even gives their rival-enemy relationship new life since it's been getting stale. Best of all? AN OLD WHITE MAN saved the day.

I also liked that it was such a Master heavy episode, as seeing him seeth, overact, and try to die multiple times was great. Seeing him twist the Last Cyberman around his little finger and then casually fuck him up was suitably Masterful. I'm finding I really like this version of the Master. And at risk of being torn apart for saying it, I thought the Cybermasters were amazingly campy and overdesigned in the best way.

I was happy when the Doctor was 'just a mad man in a box' but being real he hasn't been just that in a long, long time, if ever. He's had literal plot shields and been one of the most broken characters in fiction for decades.

Of course all this could be because I was expecting scorched earth destruction of the likes that could never be repaired. It all felt pretty mild, really.

>Total canon collapse! Every episode will retcon at every moment in history! The whole show will never have existed. Please listen to me!

Attached: file.png (1920x1080, 3.6M)

Between the Morbius doctors, Valeyard and whatever the fuck Tom Baker was doing in the 50th, I think today's episode did a damn good job holding everything together at least it didn't do anything for the Human=timelord theories

>season 23 villain was behind everything the whole time
Honestly would be pottery. Bravo, Chibs.

Possibly the worst episode of NuWho.
Shitty lore being dumped for an hour, NOTHING of remote interest happening with the companions/Cybermen/Master/Doctor - just pure unfiltered garbage that only the most depraved, mindless consoomer would make excuses for.

Pathetic.

Why would the BDs never happen?

>only the most depraved, mindless consoomer
You mean 99% of the remaining fanbase?

So how did we go from Doctor sacrificing himself for Wilf to Doctor letting Ko Sharmus sacrifice him for herself without thinking too much about it?

I admit 10 at least wouldn't have DIED died, but that's still the death of that personality.

Yeah sorry I didn't mean that either I just want to highlight thats what happened.

Why did 13 let Ko Sharmus kill himself? The Doctor saves as s(he) can... imagine leaving Wilf in the glass box.

more like 100% of the remaining viewers

some of them are just masochists or people in to deep to leave
but most are literal cultists

was Ko Sharmus a timelord? he seemed familiar with tardis controls and kept using weirdly specific vocalbury

You didn't enjoy tandori tikaMastala chewign the scenery and scheming his away around everyone until an old white dude fucked over his plan?

Attached: vlcsnap-2020-03-01-21h07m00s107.png (1920x1080, 1.47M)

Because Chibbers really wanted another scene between The Dr and The Master and he couldn't figure out how to do that if Ko Sharmus just wandered of with the bomb so he settled on having a sequence of scenes that didn't make sense.

All these series have become nothing more than shallow vehicles for political agenda, with no regard to the legacy, or continuity. But look on the bright side - they are all flopping. Soon they will all be dead, put out of their misery. And no shameless repurposer will be able to dig up the rotting corpse, stick a hand up its ass and parade it around, spewing hamfisted political agenda. All the while shows like Orville and Expanse are picking up the fans left behind by these once venerable IPs.
A couple of ruined franchises is a small price to pay for the safety of fiction. So I will learn to live without it. Because I can live without it. I can live without it.

Attached: sisko drink.jpg (475x363, 42K)

mostly yes

Does this mean Tecteun is the mysterious 3rd founder of Time Lord society called "The Other" alongside Rassilon and Omega

The state of those episodes is just... yeah, thanks BBC for burning the Library of Alexandria.

Nearly every episode was destroyed, a good chunk was recovered from here and there in dubious quality, like from some African TV channel archives, a good chunk only (miraculously) exists as audio recordings, most of them restored as slideshows of various level of quality during the VHS era (some serials didn't even have any photos left except for promotion materials).

I mean, you can put that on a bluray, but you don't even have enough to make an upscale worth anything. And you'd have to remake half of the episodes from scratch, work that has started but ain't gonna be finished any time soon.

>Could have had a twist where its revealed that all along the Time Lords were torturing this immortal being that Rassilon and Omega found in order to gain regenerations from it.
>This discovery causes the redeemed Master who returns home, to go back to his ways and slaughter everyone.
>The Doctor is then placed with the choice of freeing the Timeless Child knowing it will want vengeance, mercy killing the now completely broken Timeless Child, or torturing it again in order to save her people by triggering a mass regeneration.

>Ruth could have simply been another Time Lord and its revealed that a bunch of Time Lords escaped Gallifrey and hid themselves in Chameleon Arcs, waiting to be freed so they can rebuild a better Gallifrey
>This would give the feeling that anyone that The Doctor encounters from now on could possibly be a Time Lord in a Chameleon Arc.
>Could have had one or two more surprises next season, maybe with The Rani etc.
>Ends in a big reclaiming of Gallifrey finale, Time Lord Civil war between the Time Lord Rebels and those that side with the Master, maybe even a bunch who side with Rassilon.

>Instead we get this.

Its strange how the concept of the timeless child itself isn't a canon killer, but simply making it the Doctor fucks everything up.

I know this will sound weird, but the show used to be pretty good. The Master as a character has even been pretty good from time to time. We used to have higher standards than "chews scenery".
