Some of his jokes are fun, but what really bothers me with this guy is that quite often he will just ramble during his shows, and it's not a funny ramble, it's just an old man complaining about the world but instead of the usual old man repertoire he is reading the notes of a 14 y/o adult who read Nietzsche's Wikipedia page. I don't have a personal problem with it, it's just that if you're doing stand up comedy and the audience seems to be applauding and cheering more than laughing... your stand up show is most certainly not for me.

Yeah, and if you ever got to see him live it was even funnier with the contagious laughter from the people sitting around you. I was lucky enough to see one of his last shows, and it was fucking epic.
For those who don't know, when they're not filming a special comedians go on the road "testing" material on different audiences. You're basically paying to be in a focus group. The best thing about that though is that if they crack a joke that falls flat they'll break from their routine and kind of make up for it by either fucking with the crowd or saying a joke from another routine that is guaranteed to get a laugh.

there's actually a pretty good analysis out there showing his premise is complete bullshit. the evolution of the language of this term comes from a more precise understanding of what "shell shock" is. the name changing corresponds directly with better treatment of the problem. to call it a "softening" of language is bullshit.
