Dredd’s tracking on the YouTube algorithm now, for whatever be reason.
I’m guessing with the current Netflix shitshow about wanting to add commercials, we’re not ever getting that series after all, huh.
I miss this fucker like you wouldn’t believe

40k does his concept better
Not taking the mask off the whole time gave me more respect for Karl Urban than any other actor in the business.
Hard to believe it's been a decade since it came out.
He was a great Bones too
I remember some people didn't like how different his costume was compared to the comics. I think they balanced it perfectly. The lawgiver looked great too.
Nemesis did 40k's concept better

Enjoy the the comics about that movie then.
BE PURE
BE VIGILANT
...BEHAVE!
Almost Human is something I still get pissed off about. How is he in The Boys?
Thank you.
If the show ever goes ahead properly, I hope they include some silly moments like in the comics, but the serious 2012 depication is still great.
No it doesn't.
40k is about intergalactic wars against various races.
Dredd is about an authoritarian law enforcement in great socioeconomic discrepancy.
Based...all the things that I would give for this to get a S-tier animation adaptation
I like that he isn’t wearing his helmet in the locker room. Then he puts it on, goes on duty and stays on duty.
Nemesis is great, especially the parts drawn by Kevin O’Neill. I’m not sure you could make an animation “feel” like that though.
Which one?
The one full of references to the comics and has Stallone in it or the miserable one about rape, flensing and IRL gang culture and should have been renamed Anderson?
40K is about buying toys, not wallowing in pulp Fantasy/Sci-Fi and satirising policing gone mad.
I think it was fine. Just unremarkable and forgettable.
The Stallone one is a great 2000 AD action movie, the Urban one is a great Dredd movie.
>the Urban one is a great Dredd movie.
I dunno, it was completely devoid of humour, unless Dredd somehow changed from when I was reading it and became an unwitty gorefest where everyone's dressed in rags.
Arbites are shitty knockoff Judges
>authoritarian law enforcement that is absolutely necessary because the world is a chaotic shit hole
Dredd or the Imperium?
I love that movie, so sad we didn’t get more.
The movie had the tough task of adapting Dredd into a 90+ minute film in a way that kept the core of him without being one giant meta wink that would get tiring, and I think they found the perfect balance. Dredd is still perfectly extreme and over the top ridiculous, but his surrounding beautifully matches his character. His existence might be daunting, but someone as extreme as him is necessary for a world like his. They could’ve easily overdone some political commentary with him, but they picked the right road by just focusing on the character specifically and his setting.
I honestly don’t want a new Dredd film nowadays, because I can already see the soap boxing and horribly unsubtle writing from a mile away.
Here, let's have a little storytime of one of my favourites; The Generation Killer!
I love the slow evolution of teleportation tech in Judge Dredd, from a seemingly faroff pipe dream to something that the average citizen can use in their everyday life.
The End. Nothing too special, but I've always loved the concept of backwards "Sins of the Father", or in this case, "Sins of the Son".
>I honestly don’t want a new Dredd film nowadays, because I can already see the soap boxing and horribly unsubtle writing from a mile away.
If 2000AD writers would get to write the movie, it would be closer to 2000AD writing policies. Its relatively easy to make sequels to Dredd movies because the comic format has individual crises or story arcs that are their own contained story, just in the Dredd-universe.
Good example Dark Judges, which could be easily turned into its own kind of hybrid horror-action film similar to first Terminator. And Karl Urban would still get to play the exact same character despite the movie being more supernatural.
>Its relatively easy
Whose relatively easy?
No it didnt. It was a boring not very subtle with its politics (not that uncle pat has ever been subtle, nor do i disagree with him).
Its funny how i turned off, round about the time kev o'neil stopped doing the art.
Fucking hell.
>miss this fucker
Buy the dredd case files (or pirate, i dont care, i do both, and rebellion dont deserve your money until the design team stop fucking up the spines).
Also, the megazine has some good dredd movie verse stories under the 'dredd' title.
Demarco, that incorrigable helmet polisher. Oh you meant something else!!
Oh, another thought; The descendents crime was thought crime, probably due to the fact his entire family line was slaughtered by those he was thinking against. Thus, the government might've started the entire thought crime issue in some sort of self fulfilling prophecy (they killed my family, therefore they are bad, therefore they kill my family for thinking this). This relates to the Judges in that they too are helping to cause the problems they are then "fixing". Dredd thinks the future Generation Killer and him are nothing alike, but this is false.
They also include some of the less realistic 2000AD stuff while still retaining the aesthetic of Dredd.
Yeah, it's a shame no one has attempted to do anything with him in a decade now
Whilst they've dabbled with self fulfilling prophecies before (that mutant judge child?) I feel this is just a convenient headcanon as this isn't a comic series to leave things unstated. However it would be very consistent with the time travel mechanics displayed.
>This relates to the Judges in that they too are helping to cause the problems they are then "fixing".
Very few problems are the fault of the Judges.
>Dredd thinks the future Generation Killer and him are nothing alike, but this is false.
Is there some other comic where this happens? He didn't entertain the thought in that strip. And he is different, his lawbook doesn't say kill 700 previous generations and the past is probably outside his jurisdiction!
Still pretty good though TV Butcher loses some of comic Butchers joy in inflicting pain on capes. He's more just pissed off then pissed off AND happy to watch some cunt roll around on the ground in agony because he just broke his leg in four places.
>more just pissed off then pissed off AND happy
Fucking ESL's.
That’s a good point. Isn’t that faggot on Mandalorian all bitchy about hiding his face too much? Jesus Christ, you’re an actor. Set aside your ego for the role, fuckface. (And gee, sorry you’re suddenly super famous for being in the one SW production is Disney’s that wasn’t total shit.)
>SW production is Disney’s that wasn’t total shit.
I already posted my mega link to all the Dredd 3D comics.
I just want some well-done Hard R live-action Dark Judges
You are not going to have that in today's industry.
Unfortunately there's a very small demand among comic book fans for such movies so it's unlikely to get made. Also R equals less money in Hollywood's eyes.
All real life authoritarians are not nazis. All fictional authoritarians are not Imperium.
Dredd varies between vibes depending on the story. Comedy, political, comments on culture. Its been around long enough you can find something on everything somewhere.
>Its been around
Whose been around?
Thank you.
Comic has been ongoing since 70s/80s. You could do almost anything and there is probably a story theme just like it.
>rebellion dont deserve your money until the design team stop fucking up the spines
Only native speakers mix up then and than. It's like would've vs would of
Is dredd in his eighties now? How is he still running around?
Justice Department has persudo rejuvenation tanks that slow aging. Advanced healing tech is reserved for judges and over time improvements in medical. Also think he got deaged slightly at one point. Also enhancements like his eyes are robotic.
Otherwise yea he is a dino. Was a kid when the world went to shit.
I remember when Karl Urban was doing a go fund me and put up some of his own money so he could do another Judge Dredd movie but it didn't work out.
The movie is good on its own and sometimes it best to leave a good thing be before its tainted by a 2ndor 3rd movie lacking in the originals quality.
>soap boxing and horribly unsubtle writing from a mile away.
Have you ever read 2000AD?
>Is there some other comic where this happens? He didn't entertain the thought in that strip.
Yeah you're right, I must've gotten this comic mixed up with some of the other times he's interacted with other lawmen like the lawlords or various alien tourists.
>Very few problems are the fault of the Judges.
While they aren't causing every single problem, I feel this is false. Dredd's actions against the Sovs have caused countless retaliations that have killed even more people. I'm pretty sure their social policies are shite and they know it, such as when the accountant Maitland talked to the council of five but they just shut her down. Even Judge Fargo knows that the Judges overstayed their welcome and are doing more harm than good, and said as much when talking to Dredd before his "second" death.
>40K is about buying toys, not wallowing in pulp Fantasy/Sci-Fi and satirising policing gone mad
Dude...
