I haven't been a big fan of most of them recently, there's a few good spots here and there, frozen for example was still really good but as a whole I feel like they've been extremely weak.
And rewatching encanto I think the big thing is it just feels like a checklist of things that historically work but they don't understand why it works.

The music for example is a big one, everyone knows disney music from the old days, but the new movies? outside a few here and there they're not that good.
and more importantly they don't feel natural. in older movies there was a smooth transition from movie->song->movie, in the new ones its just so jarring. the movie stops to have their mandated song, then the movie comes back on. its so out of place and the characters are always playing along with the song as if its a musical instead of part of the movie. the song should be a natural part of the story telling but in the new movies its just sudden stop, exposition via song, movie back.
It feels like a parody fo a musiocal.
