Why the fuck can't we get a theatrical Sonic movie that looks similar to the animation we see in the Sonic Origins trailer but with a bigger budget instead of the live action dogshit we've been getting? You would have twice the amount of people coming to see this.

>Implying normies watch 2D
Dude, CG is king of the hill now.
>Implying normies watch 2D
but they would though. We live in a world where fucking anime is taking over and most of that shit is 2D. The most popular animations on the planet or the 2D. it's just that industry is retarded and thinks it can't sell nowadays even though they wont give it a chance.
But Sonic and Knuckles looked great in the film?
>You would have twice the amount of people coming to see this.
Lmfao no you wouldn't
No they looked retarded. People were so put off by how ugly Sonic originally looked in the first live action film initially that they all collectively accepted the redesign as good which it isn't. I guarantee if that first Sonic design was never shown, no one would be saying the current look of Sonic is good. It's a visual mess that doesn't work in a live action setting.
>no one would see a visually striking animated film based on one of the most popular and successful gaming franchise in existence because I said so
Don't be delusional. It would make a billion dollars in a matter of weeks.
>anime
>2D
Get better bait Yea Forumsntrarian faggot.
>I have no rebuttal so imma just say bait
insecure faggot
You're obviously fucking blind if you think Sonic looks bad here.
That said, you're still clearly a baiting retard.
>UR WRONG FUCK U FUCK U
>Not a proper response
>JUST LOOK AT THIS IMAGE IT'S GOOD BECAUSE I SAY SO BAIT BAIT RETARD
You're a child and have shit taste.
This looks a fan made poster someone would have made a decade ago. Jim Carrey as Eggman, the goofy Sonic designs. This literally would have been a meme years ago.
Because the average movie goer is a retard who will happily eat whatever shit is put infront of it. Companies will keep riding this trend as long as theres popular IPs to rape for easy cash.
because all the cool shit is niche. maybe well eventually get the classic 2D sonic series we always deserved.
Classic sonic always felt more serious too me. Dunno why the mania guys made him smug like the tv cartoons.
>maybe well eventually get the classic 2D sonic series we always deserved.
You already got it
>Dunno why the mania guys made him smug like the tv cartoons.
Being smug was his entire personality in all the advertising during the Genesis days

Because there are still high powered execs in Hollywood who believe movies movies about high concept fantastical characters like Transformers and Sonic need to have human characters for the audience to relate to even though no one ever gives a fuck about the human protagonists other than Megan Fox in Transformers and that’s because she’s hot
Transformers always had humans. Sonic was always going to have humans. I understand and support your critique on Hollywood's insistence on the relatable human element in movies that don't need it but try and cite better examples.
Is there a good jumping on point for the comics?
Retard, because that amount of animation is insanely expensive and literally fucking nobody would watch it. Certainly not the same numbers the movies have been getting. Also the movies are good and have definitely been a worthwhile investment so far, so I'm not sure what the fuck you're saying.
God, we've been getting some terrible bait lately.
>You would have twice the amount of people coming to see this
I don't like these designs because their quills are hairy and have quills themselves.
>Also the movies are good
They're good for the whole "cartoon character in the live action world" genre but Sonic fans still demand full on adaptations of the games despite the fact that they've already gotten that AND it was animated.

I dunno I remember him being more serious in game.
Impatient toe tapping is straight out of Looney Tunes, which was a huge influence on Sonic, bro.
I feel like these people lso forget that wishing for a direct 1:1 recreation of the games plotlines but in animated form is 80% of the reason why Sonic X beyond the Metarex Saga was shit. Because it was literally SA 1 and 2 but eith even worse characterization, awful filler, and most of the human-side characters were trash.and these are the same people who shit on SatAM and AOSTH because they went and did their own things.
It's no surprise they hate the movies because the movies are just taking things from all the media and putting them together in their own take and aren't bound to the limitations of adapting the games.
There’s a big difference between humans being around and the story centering on human protagonists. Are Sam Witwicki or Chris Thorndyke beloved fan favorite characters integral to their respective franchises? There’s no reason Sam had to be the point of view character. There’s no reason Sonic had to be Cyclops’ adopted son.
>but they would though.
yeah on a streaming service. Not in movie theaters.
user, most people nowadays watch anime on a streaming service or just find free episodes online, where the influx of paying viewers is significantly lower than a movie theater. Your idea of a fully 2D series, even ignoring the enormous production costs, would not reasonably survive unless it was like, Arcane-level huge. And not only will SEGA never EVER allocate resources towards something like that, but the number of people willing to watch it unless its stupidly good and gets crazy word-of-mouth is minimal.
Considering both of those movie franshises were successful. They were right
Americans don't like anime on the big screen.
They’re financially successful but critically they’re mid at best. Compare that to so many other franchises that are both financially and critically successful. And usually the key there is being faithful to the spirit of fear you’re adapting.
You must think Booba, Cocomelon and Minions are just precious don't ya?

The Sonic OVA still exist bro, you can watch it right now. You could also watch the Sonic Mania Shorts, that was like 3 or 2 years ago.
Also, can someone explain why the movie's emeralds were so Tiny? I get the movie is it's own thing and own lore but why make the normal emeralds so absolutely baby sized? Every other time(excluding Boom where they don't exist) they are like Hand filling and the ME is the only one too big.

They're small pieces of the ME in the movie continuity, so that's probably why they're so small. Don't forget that the ME itself is pretty small in the movie.
I’d consider it at least sizable in comparison, but my issue comes in the flashback/translation scene where each emerald was like at least a two hands on affair for the echidnas and their size being mixed into the master emerald seemed bigger relatively speaking. Then when the ME breaks their like fucking legos or those itty bitty Emeralds that used to come with some Sonic toys(usually the ones that came with a free comic), like I wanna at that they are genuinely the size of the Erne tales that came with a classic Sonic figure set a few years ago. Back onto topic, I kinda feel like the movie lied about their size since one scene had them pretty big or normal looking I guess.
Also, I wasn’t 100% clear at the end on what sonic even did with the tiny emeralds, I was watching a torrented one and the quality was beyond iffy around that point, I saw the tiny one fly upward into the sky as sonic turns back before knuckles remakes the ME, did the tiny ones go back to the ME or did they just fly off or something?
Sorry about the secondary question but I still do kinda wanna know.
I assume their relatively smaller size was because they were depowered at that point.
>I saw the tiny one fly upward into the sky as sonic turns back before knuckles remakes the ME, did the tiny ones go back to the ME or did they just fly off or something?
That was Sonic giving up the excess power. All of the emeralds seem to have gotten merged back into the Master Emerald.
No, it wasn't, that was American Sonic. Japanese Sonic was a little irrelevant, but wasn't in your face about it. He doesn't even look smug in that pic.
>like I wanna at that they are genuinely the size of the Erne tales
Holy strokes Batman, what I tried to say was ‘I wanna say that they were genuinely the size of the emeralds’
>Impatient toe tapping is straight out of Looney Tunes
Not really, that vid is from Disney lol.
Sonic was influenced by rubberhose. It had zero influence from Looney Tunes.
I honestly fear you could choke on those emeralds if you accidentally fuck up. Now I’m imagining how it’s supposed to look for shadow to hold that tiny one and not drop it when he throws it up before saying chaos control, shits gonna slip through his fingers and fall down a drain or grate.
OP is delusional as fuck.
He actually scatters the seven across the planet. Knuckles simply puts the drained Master Emerald fragments back together afterwards.
Yeah. They don't really bring attention to it but the seven emeralds fly away when Sonic returns to normal.
>he hasn’t seen the real sonic movie
People care about anime because its japanese. Put them in front of a french cartoon and they'll go to sleep
>People care about anime because its japanese
This is what modern animation studios fail to understand. They've been slapping the anime label on their "adult" Western animation projects and wondering why they still don't get as much traction as this season's slice of life isekai anime.
>where fucking anime is taking over
The teen boy and manchild piracy market isn't the box office market.
The last "big hit" anime that went to the cinemas bombed because it's so fucking autistic and foreign.
>The last "big hit" anime that went to the cinemas bombed because it's so fucking autistic and foreign.
Was it the Lupin 3rd movie or what was it?
What was even the last financially successful 2D animated film? The Simpsons Movie?
Jujutsu Kaisen made 150M+
Do you realize how long these things take to make? If you want a 90 minute 2D animated movie it will take 5+ years to produce unless it's ultra cheap like Bob's Burgers.
That's just straight up a lie
