It's really weird for me to look at the cartoon's artstyle. They all look way too similar.

I agree, but re watching the show you can feel the 40 year old man trying to guess how teenagers sound like in the dialogue.

There is little internal struggle in the characters, it feels like power rangers.

Is there an article somewhere that talks about how they were firced to change the direction early on? I've heard about things like how Elyon was going to become a villain, but if there's a source where I could read more that'd be great.

It depends on the artist's style, I think. In some tutorials, comic traces and even in sketches and concept art she's the 'curviest' of the group.

Souless cartoon art style vs SOVL comic art style.
Sure on the comic they don't look as old as they're supposed to be (around 14+ if I'm not mistaken), but it's far better than the generic one of the tv show

Translating the part where they talk about Elyon:
Elyon, who in the new version is princess of Meridian, was a very different character in our story. She was the Guardian of the Metamoor/Metaworld and had powers related to time, wild nature and death.
She would try to bring the other girls to the dark side and then redeem herself: in the last issue she would sacrifice herself to save the lives of her friends. Her main power, was the one of "giving" death.

Then they say they used this concept of the original Elyon in a new comic called "End"

it depends on the style of the artist working on each number, but she's supposed to be the curviest one.

some artists will draw her like a normal teenage girl but rounder, while others will just go apeshit and draw her with really big breasts.

I disagree on that last part, so many cartoons make 14-year-olds ridiculously tall etc. As a teen I was drawn to the civilian designs right away because they felt so much more "normal" to me.

I think every character got botched somewhere in the adaptation. In the comics Irma was the really feminine one who dealt with tons of insecurities and would occasionally crack wise at others expense. In the cartoon, she was constant jokes all the time. Shit got grating real fast for me.
