Comfy Turning Red Thread

So we're back?
>Jin had to shoop himself into his own family photo
Oh no no no no
>SJW woke feminist trash
Yeah, "comfy" my ass. You just want to genocide all men by making them trannies. Stop putting identity politics in movies for kids. It's morally abhorrent and disturbing. You aren't welcomed here
Grubhub Perks give you deals on the food you love. The kind of deals that make you wanna boogie.
THEY HIT THE PENTAGON MEI MEI THEY HIT THE FUCKING PENTAGON
There aren't any trannies in the movie.
meds, now
There's only one way Mei can prevent the attacks, and that's by transforming into a small furry creature and infiltrating the Pentagon.
I just noticed that and it makes it so much funnier
ming lovers assemble
>Looks up mayors of Toronto in the 1990s
>Not a single one named Kumar
Why would they just lie about that?
BUNNY!
What kind of panties does Ming wear?
The mom needs big white cock
This is the one part of the movie that didn't sit right with me.
Isn't Mei mocking them by literally posing as an emo? Even if its a well-meaning attempt to integrate, isn't that still insulting to the emo kids?
we already named their band, user
Fuck this weird groomer shit.
100% cotton high waist briefs from a Fruit of the Loom multi-pack.
>posts the cia
lol
I do think the joke was that they were posing like they were in a goth/emo band photoshoot
>Glowies are trannies
Not shocking in the least
...
You're trying too hard, user.
obligatory young ming
Can it be? Do my eyes deceive me? It is!
All my panda frens are here! And OP is here too!
I support this thread but I also hope it doesn't get deleted.
So hang in there!
I mean there's the one-note joke thread about "Name my band" that turned into a general Turning Red thread.
>Isn't Mei mocking them by literally posing as an emo?
no dumb dumb they probably asked her to pose like that.
Just like they probably asked her to spin basketballs or something.
well... yeah I guess.
Only question is who's wearing the Martin Van Buren kitty cat underwear.
>"Artin Van Buren" briefs covered in cat cartoons
I don't understand this panel.
Really need context on that top storyboard. Like, seriously, what were the fucking planning lmao? Is that supposed to be man or woman underwear? Is that lube on the desk? Or perfume?
Like seriously, what the FUCK.
Guessing the plane is from the alternate ending?
>I want to see 4 Town mom! Dad, back me up here!
>nine ereven
Respect.
All I know is that Martin Van Buren is a seeming parody of the techno/trance electronica artist Armin Van Buren. Very, very popular artist in the electronica circles, on par with Tiesto and the like.
Example:
youtube.com
It's either him, or it's Martin Van Buren, who was the eighth president of the U.S., which makes a lot less sense.
Maybe they were considering doing a rave concert instead of a boy band concert in early drafts? Would make sense, as those were extremely popular too.
>All I know is that Martin Van Buren
*Artin
Yeah, that's what I thought at first as well, but the cats (Garfield?) on them didn't make sense in that context, and Mei and co don't really seem like trance fans.
Yeah I really don't get it. Hope to get an explanation of some sort at some point. Maybe ask Domee or the storyboarder on Twitter directly.
She has four ears
Ok I guess all of you are Euros if you can't get the joke that this is a reference to the Garfield comic strip. Garfield is a president van Buren is a president... kitty cat
Yeah it's still weird if you get it's a Garfield reference.
My interpretation is she's doing laundry and this is her dad's underwear... but why is she a panda in this situation and why is this a big deal at all?
Most likely. Meilin went panda because she's sitting next to Robaire.
hey this movie is pretty liberal and lax on gender politics imo
There COULD have been though but it was set in 2002
So the plane bends to her shape because she's so big now? I mean, maybe it was intended to be a like-mother-like-daughter thing, but still doesn't make sense.
So strange. I hope more context is shed on this soon.
Also, it seems like this thread has been set to autosage.
What
the
fuck.
yeah Orion Lee (Jin's voice actor) has a natual speaking voice that sounds more British than his Chinese accent Jin has in the movie.
The actor's bio is kind of sparse though.
weird as hell desu... but what about the other general "name my band" though? Is it on that setting?
well the OTHER thread that was going isn't messed up so maybe it's some janny implicitly only allowing one Turning Red thread at a time. I certainly don't know.
No, that one is fine. It's peculiar. Only mods can autosage, not jannies. Wonder who it is who is so vigilant against this topic. It's common knowledge that certain mods babysit certain boards and completely ignore others.
well it took them long enough because I was here for a week and there didn't seem to be any mod action against our circlejerk here.
>has a natual speaking voice that sounds more British
Well I'm going to headcanon that Jin is from then still British-controlled Hong Kong, while Ming and her family are from the mainland, and that's why there was the tension and disapproval from Grandma.
This is officially the reason now.
Funny enough someone else in a turning red thread told me Jin must not be a Cantonese speaker (which is what I'd spoken in Hong Kong) because his name isn't pronounced in the Cantonese way.
So Jin must be from the Mainland and the mom side is from Hong Kong.
I don't know if that's true either. And btw there are tens of millions of Cantonese speakers in Mainland China too, in Guangzhou
Also Domee Shi herself was born in Mainland China, not in Guangzhou. Though she might know some Cantonese anyways, according to someone else I know.
That's a good point, and mite b tru, but I feel from the mannerisms alone it might be more likely that Jin is the Hong-Konger, while Ming and senpai are the mainlanders, with Jin adopting the far more laid back culture of British control, and Ming's family being the strict stickler for tradition.
It's entirely possible that Jin was maybe born to mainland parents but moved to Hong Kong (or surrounding area) at a young age.
This is how I adjust my headcanon.
She's right
That's a cute opinion. Did a /pol/tard give it to you?
