What went wrong?
Heroes in Crisis
Heroes in Crisis was made.
Someone clearly terrified of therapy wrote a story about therapy.
Then threw in a murder mystery that ended with a giant slap of character assassination.
I believe I see the words "Tom King" on the cover.
wasting clay mann on tom king
It's an event book with "Crisis" in the title
Tom King had a panic attack and that inspired him to make this comic. Honestly the best part of this comic, outside of the art, is the idea of a facility helping superheroes dealing with PTSD but they rushed that part so they could spend it on a murder mystery that shit the bed at the very beginning.
It should've been about the facility's AI getting PTSD from all the heroes and going crazy and everyone fights it. Something like them all fighting their fears, getting over it, and feeling like better people for it.
>is the idea of a facility helping superheroes dealing with PTSD
This is really good actually. Because they all would be super fucked up.
How is he still employed anyway. He's ruined their flagship character and reduced himself to a public meme.
he has sooper seekreet cia info as blackmail
Wasn't the writer a therapist for soldiers in the army?
I'm really curious as to what the original ending was going to be.
>This is really good actually.
I wouldn't praise it desu. A lot of events can have okay concepts if you boil it down. But they all get fucked in execution,
I have no idea what you're on about. The idea of a facility to help superheroes work through issues is a good idea. That's all I meant and could possibly mean.
I think it should have just confined itself to a mystery about someone trying to hack into the records. A secret facility for dealing with ptsd for capes is a great and far-reaching concept that should have been given time to breathe on its own, especially with regards to who would have been in the know and those kept in the dark.
Everything.
>I have no idea what you're on about.
What part wasn't clear?
> The idea of a facility to help superheroes work through issues is a good idea.
>good idea
I am saying that you could boil down a bunch of ideas from events (boil down as in, strip away stuff to the core ideas or scenarios at play) and they could sound like good ideas but it doesn't matter because the end product was bad. Adding superheroes into x situation is meaningless unless the execution is good. It has all been done before.
>That's all I meant and could possibly mean.
Do you think I am attacking you or something? I don't think anything I said was that complicated.
Hah! Yeah, and Bendis's CIA accreditation is a warning to DC's public office. Sure user. Say hi to the funny farm for me.
I wish i actually got to check out the Heroes in Crisis thread while it was going down.
I would have loved to see Yea Forums's reaction to it in real time.
Tom King was CIA. Allegedly pencil pusher.
So what was your reaction to this entire scene?
It was a ride.
The number of arguments over the dead Green Lantern were something else. We never found our who it was.
I never understood why people thought she took all three of them down. Superman just watches her run, acts smug, and wonders if he should go get her.
>How is he still employed anyway.
despite all of Yea Forums's temper tantrums about king his books still sell well especially in trade. he has cemented himself as a comic creator for normalfags.
This and the Deathstroke fight in Identity Crisis are so shitbrained.
It really makes you despise the genre and industry.
Unfortunately true. Despite being completely fucking awful, a lot of readers think he's a top-tier writer.
Tom King
All that decent art for a shitty story
>he has cemented himself as a comic creator for normalfags
This. That's why all he makes are 12 issue series that can fit in one hardcover since those sell best to normies.
Spot. The fuck. On.
Now stay with me here but what if a beloved hero was actually sad and depressed and committed some kind of war crimes equivalent?
Harley defeating the big three is ridiculous garbage. She can't defeat Batman normaly, but all three of them? Bet King broke his arm trying to pat himself on the back after writting this scene.
Here’s a much better premise- three to five C-List heroes (maybe throw in one underappreciated B-Lister) are in therapy because some terrible shit happened to them. Some sort of disaster happens that only they can deal with, for whatever reason (JLA off-world or whatever), and they have to overcome their fears and trauma to save the day. There. That’s your ‘event.’
If Seven Soldiers worked, so could this.
DC stands for Damage Control
Get out of here King
King is a legit weirdo. That's it. He's got some strange stuff going on in his brain and he decided that it was a good idea to make a series about it.
the little stories about the individual people at the therapy place were quite good i thought. but the big story about harley and booster was not very good, and the wally elements were pure character assassination
There was a dead Green Lantern?
They wrote a story then played mad-libs with the characters involved in it.
Did they fix Wally yet?
Yes but it took a long time and two retcons
>clay mann
>What went wrong?
Tom King.
Babs was hot as fuck and I want to marry her.
How shitty are the retcons?
So how bad is Tom King?
I remember people here singing his praises when he wrote Vision, then turned on him almost immediately with Batman.
Shut up, hole. Go bake me a pie.
Weirdly bad. He keeps pumping out books full of amateurish hack writing and getting rewarded for it.
The Vision was always terrible.
I never understood what people saw in it.
I've contemplated asking King but that would require interacting with King
I HATE IT
This looks like poser models.
How?
BatCat
No, it's a shit idea because "muh realistic heroes" is boring. I don't Batgirl to need therapy, 40+ years after she got shot and a few years after she got her legs working again.
If you want to say she has PTSD, you do that story right after she gets shot. Not now.
>human target is so shit the artist needed a 6 month sabbatical to mentally recover before finishing the series
Oh, that's another tom king page huh?
Man I long for the day the normies turn on Tom King.
They turned him into the new Dr. Manhattan.
quick run down ?
