How do we make western cartoons as good as a anime? Nobody gives a shit about westerm cartoons anymore. They literally care more about bizarre drawings made by an island at the other side of the world with a totally different culture than they care about art made by their own people. What the fuck happened?

Anime isn't good anymore either, though.

Numbers don't lie.

the entire social, cultural and business model behind american cartoons would need to be restructured

Then why does everyone love anime? Even Chad and stacy watch Attack on Titan

>everyone

Just kids under 30. And only because they had literally nothing else good to watch when they were children. Cartoons have sucked for a very, very, very, very long time. Anime has only sucked for about 2 decades.

>How do we make western cartoons as good as an anime?
We already do. Just that people don't know about them because they are not on Disney/CN/Nick.

Who cares? Let it all burn. Maybe something good could rise from the ashes, but I couldn't care less.

Nobody watches this show but the worst coomer weebs, fuck off.

but anime's a shit

>Niggers seething
Accept it, anime is superior and cartoons will no longer be fun or interesting

It's impossible because of western standards and all that usual political crap that cripples cartoons from being anything but "woke" Anime can get away with stuff like extreme sexualization, intense gore, rape, "far right" politics, because westerners just pass it off as Japan being Japan.

hire better korean animators

>How do we make western cartoons as good as a anime?
By appealing to transgenders, just like tranime does.

Here is the secret sauce: anime gives its audiences what they want. Western cartoons give the audience what the creator/studio thinks they should have. These are not the same thing.

Western cartoons are always about someone convincing a room full of suits that this idea of theirs will be popular based on trends and focus groups and twitter response. It is a top-down approach of trying to guess what they can make the next big thing.

Anime has an entire independent creator pipeline that verifies popularity before advancement. At Comiket 2000+ people all show up with their home made light novels and manga and weird video games and shit, and they all try to sell them at once. Most of it is shit, but the popular stuff floats to the top. And if you are popular enough, you get noticed by some company or studio that is willing to give your work a shot an an adaptation with some budget, like a higher quality manga or (if you are lucky) an anime.
This means that for the vast majority of anime produced, this is a concept that they KNOW has already worked once. They are just giving it the chance to succeed again but bigger this time. Sometimes the work fails in adaptation due to lack of budget or a bad director, sometimes it was just a flash in the pan and the anime was simply too late. But in all of these cases this is something that was made because there was already a proven audience that enjoyed it and there was a reasonable belief that audience could be expanded.

Western cartoons spend millions of dollars on bullshit no one asked for. Anime spends way less, and you can see the cost cutting in the result, but the product is still something that people actually WANTED, and thus enjoyed much more. A gourmet dish that the chef picked based on what they wanted to cook is always less likely to please the customer than what they ordered.

user, as someone who likes anime, anime is dogshit. People act like it's all based or whatever because sometimes it shows some tiddies, but anime is in its own disappointing death spiral.

Pic-unrelated I'm not seeing anything good here, just some sexually-frustrated dicklet's masturbatory fantasies being shown in public.

>Then why does everyone love anime?
Is this what weebs actually believe?

The true question is how do we make cel-shaded 3D look truly 2D? and also make it MOVE like 2D? We need to bring hand-drawn animation back one way or another.

Sex and sexual fantasy sells

>A gourmet dish that the chef picked based on what they wanted to cook is always less likely to please the customer than what they ordered.
This analogy fails because the viewer doesn't commission tv shows

Do want someone to post the thing showing a single manga outselling all of Marvel and DC combined?

not to mention animes tend to have absolutely awkward facial expression/reaction NANIIIIII scenes that give beanmouths a run for their money

Why do weebs think nerds comprise the majority of society? Do you ever leave your bubble. Most people think anime is embarrassing and a niche interest.

so? it ain't better than capeshit

That's the core problem: they don't IN AMERICA. In Japan, they effectively do. There is a reasonable expectation that if you vote with your wallet you will get a show out it, assuming enough other people agree with you.

they don't love anime, they just like a specific shounen genre of anime that everyone in the world tells them to like

Fucking hell dude, not everything in the world is some kind of psyop conspiracy. Sometimes people just enjoy shit.

I’m going to save it but I need five years.

Lots of anime comes from manga and short novels. Do you really want most western cartoons to be super hero stuff?

I work as an art teacher in a middle/highschool in a fairly suburban area, and the three major sects of culture that these kids seem to talk about the most are
>Video games (F2P ones primarily like Fortnite and Amogus)
>Capeshit movies (ie:MCU, The Batman, etc)
>Anime/Manga (Primarily Shonen Jump shit like Naruto/One Piece/MHA/Jujutsu Kaisen/Demon Slayer/etc, though there's a few kids that seem to have stepped out of the shonen bubble)
Of all of these, anime is the most reoccuring subject matter when it comes to what they talk about, what they're wearing (tshirts, hoodies, backpack keychains, etc) and what they're making in their art.

Thanks to the advent of the Internet and services like Crunchyroll, Zoomers out there are all about anime and keeping up with the latest One Piece chapter. The problem is that while you had your Toonami anime airing each week, in the early-2000s you also had action/plot driven shows like Samurai Jack, Avatar:TLA, Justice League/Unlimited, the 2003 MOTU reboot, and so on airing too. As much as shows like Steven Universe or Amphibia appeal to the Tumblr crowd, teenagers just wanna see cool fight scenes with cool powers instead of shows that talk about "muh feelings" most of the time. It's why Shonen anime is generally the most popular among the 12-20 age group.

Surely the source for western cartoons to draw upon wouldn't be comic books (which, as you point out, are predominantly capeshit and that will get old fast) but YA books? LNs are the source of many manga and anime, and young adult fiction is going to be the obvious western equivalent there.

Westerners read books?

...is that from Nadesico, or am I confusing that guy with someone else?

Nah, you got that right.

Fuck, you got me there.

I hate to tell you this dude, but this only applies to white people.
Plenty of black, Asian, and Hispanic people adore anime, and last I checked we make up nearly 90% of the world's population, while you make up, what, 11%?

I don't even disagree with your point, but can we not go down that route?

>xMonogatari
>wanting more of that
Just go watch porn, OP.

But there's no action in porn.

having a shit ton of coomerbait with nothing else to show for it won't solve it fag

You missed the point, see what said.

You know, you are absolutely right. A lot of cartoons are honestly really unimaginative, both in terms of premise but also in terms of art direction and use of color. Gumball may have been a gag show, but it was one that always chose to go the extra mile instead of being lazy with its mashup-artstyle and visual comedy. There is very little about it that I would say is 'like anime', but its exactly the sort of property that we don't get enough of in cartoons.

Sorry, I'm not white so I don't get triggered at fanservice.
Again, there's no action in porn, so it's not really comparable.
It's like telling someone to go read a porn parody of a historical figure if they want a historical fiction comic.

Maybe it's an American thing. I don't remember hearing many people bring up anime when I was in high school. There was definitely a few weebs but they were definitely a minority. Only when I moved on to TAFE did I see more people talk about it openly.
>asian
>adore anime
No shit

Wait, rock-dwelling weeb here, is Monogatari super fanservicey like Konosuba or Familar of Zero? I just never bothered to watch it and the only thing I know about it are the obvious jokes about the 500-year old vampire loli that becomes a tall, busty lady.

I'm not triggered by "fanservice," but you clearly want more of what is boring shit. You made yourself all too clear in your first post, don't act innocent.

Western cartoons ARE good. The fact that anime regularly outperforms it proves this because it means anime is peak normalfaggotry while cartoons are niche and based.

>I'm not triggered by "fanservice," but you clearly want more of what is boring shit.
>Action is "boring shit"
user, at least make it less obvious that you're criticizing something you've never watched.
No, what actually happened is that you saw fanservice, got upset, and will remain upset at this property until the end of time, because you are a faggot.

How about Western Cartoons stay western cartoons instead of ripping off anime?

I only didn’t bother with Monogatari since I am not really wanting fanservice of a loli vampire bros, I like my women to be like women and not prison bait.

Comic sales have been falling since the 80s . It is not the flex weebs think it is when manga outsells comics

It's worse. And it's boring. Imagine lots of long lectures and boob shots, with maybe a battle once in a blue moon. Not that everything has to be action, but dear god does it not do the "this is an adaptation of a book series" thing well, if you get me. Many of the people who like it are the kind to say "but it's ironically horny" and try to justify it. The protagonist is insufferable as well--"but that's the point!!"--and not in a likeable way. There are characters and concepts in it that could've had potential elsewhere, but it's too pretentious and obnoxious to sit through. Yes, this is my opinion.

Monogatari only has action once in a blue moon, and it's not worth it sitting through pretentious lectures and porn powerpoints to get that once in a while. I already said that here, if you had any patience to wait

>Okay, there is action, but there's not ENOUGH action, therefore it's really just porn!
I accept your concession.

You would need a time machine for that. The western cartoon market has been in a state of atrophy for long enough that the people going into the industry now grew up watching anime instead, or at least watching anime was much or more than they did cartoons. So the people making cartoons now are trying to emulate the only 'good' animation they have been exposed to.

Take a look at these two clips, and tell me honestly which one YOU would want to emulate if you had a love for the potential of animation.

youtube.com/watch?v=U_rWZK_8vUY

just make it look like anime
Castlevania is total dogshit but because it looks like anime, normies are hooked

There are different types of "fanservice," user. Monogatari's is obnoxious, in-your-face and almost constant. That's why I stand by what I said. You're admitting that you're into that, fine, but at least acknowledge that it's not even the same amount of horniness as average anime. Monogatari is like the stereotype, what normalfags would think you're into if you ever say you like anime. You're moving around the goalposts and getting offended when I at least acknowledge what something is. Dont even try to pull the "but it's due to the unreliable narrator" bullshit. Healthy sexuality is fine. You're a coomer and want more "sexy" shows.
