Poor Kyle, there's no way he can even stand steady in those heels without tumbling down... Maybe it's all intentional, he can't walk well, and struggles to see due to the dark glasses. Made to move at dance as someone else's wishes. Everything is designed to keep him disorienting under all the niceties, glamour and promises of eternal life and pleasure.

If Prime's whole schtick was 1984 (even his clones called him Big Brother), his next avatar could probably go the Brave New World route. Soma is as effective in controlling others as fear and survelliance.

But just as in chapter 3. Kyle's memories of his Dad have a powerful effect of him.

I wanted this whole sequence to have a lot of mundane manipulative tactics going on. Kyle is being intimidated, handled in a very controlling way, being told he has no better options than to follow along, proposed in a very unpersonal and disrespectful way, bringing along peer pressuree, specially after he said he wanted time to think.

Really wanted to amp up the toxic relationship signs in this.

Kyle finally has enough. Fuck this princess shit, fuck parties at a place he was previously abused and made fun of, and fuck this denial of reality eternal victim stuff.

To be fair Lonnie kissing him was one of the things that made him realize this was a con. He knows something must be really OOC with Lonnie for that to happen. He knows they are not the real deal but pupeteered clones of sorts.

I've slowly realized this but Kyle's arc is more similar to those of female characters than male ones. It wasn't intentional but I think it's because he was a very emasculated character (intentionally by the showrunner, I think) and it's not a common thing for male heroes to go through that. So his story is in part all about learning he is capable of having agency

Kyle gets you Mantenna. There is no relief to being the comic relief.

Even if he can't bring himself to ever forgive the guy, he is compassionate enough to see his own frustrations in him. Both were tools of tyranny.

Mantenna hadn't had anyone being compassionate to him since his friend disappeared, if at all. Kyle's words moved him enough to act rightfully.

Mantenna once took him away, now he is the one who will deliver him back. And the cycle is closed.

He probably missed company too. He's been alone for far too long.
