Yes, I was a kid as well and I just hated Beast Machines right off the bat, I tried to like it and run with it because I still wanted to collect the toys but I just couldn't stay interested

Hasbro still goes out of their way to acknowledge some parts of G2, but the most we've gotten of Beast Machines is T-Wrecks getting a new figure, even if it's just a redeco of BW Megatron.

Cheetor had the only logical character development in the show, even if his design is AIDS
Everyone else got derailed to varying degrees

The designs were at best meh. I've never forgiven them for the whole Vehicon General mess. Obsidian and Strika were meh.

IIRC, a big part of the whole wacky derail came from the production team not being allowed to watch BW, thus meaning they had no actual idea of what the fuck they were meant to be working with.

Hasbro WANTED Cheetor to be that in Beast Wars. He was even supposed to learn lessons to be a better hero in his Transmetal form at the end of every episode. The Beast Wars writers hated this and never used it; in fact Cheetor in season 2 does very little. When he does have his Transmetal 2 character arc, its basically him just being an edgy kid.
Cheetor was never shown as wanting to be a leader, or having leadership qualities, he was just a spazzy kid. Rattrap took to leadership better.

They also did kill off Optimus like 5 episodes after resurrecting him then paraded around his would-be body by a Japanese trucker. They only brought Optimus back towards the end and never animated his new form.

Rattrap being a great field leader is one of those subtle things that makes Beast Wars feel really unique. A lot of other shows would make Rattrap an assclown who's never right. But Rattrap, for all his complaints and whining and cowardice, can actually get results and man up when its most important. Maximal MVP

This was literally me until Rankor was revealed to be Punished Rhinox, then all was worth it just to see such a lovable character fall from grace so fucking hard. The idea of a pacifist embracing entropy as the ultimate form of balance in the universe is incredibly alluring to me.

Perfect ending for the character arc since he was never in the right to begin with. Embracing entropy is giving up on life, he was just so tired of everything the plot just put him to sleep like an old dog.

Nightscream was a pissy little bitch in the show who did very little to endear himself to viewers. Most of his actions in the show can be summed up as "disagreeing with everybody". The japanese dub also made him a flaming homosexual.

Nightscream's toy is so large and unbalanced that it has trouble just standing up. It's also largely made of translucent plastic, which over time becomes incredibly brittle and weak causing most Nightscream figures to just break apart after long enough.
