maybe, but it may be a chicken/egg scenario. I think a lot of creators pursue their craft with tons of ideas and ambition, but the system beats them down. Either they try to stay true to their ideals and fail, or they assimilate and work within a paradigm that rewards excelling in mediocrity.
Artists have ideas and skill, but the people with money and power are incredibly unimaginative dicks. You can fight the good fight for awhile, but after awhile I'd imagine most people decide to use their skills to make a living however they can instead of trying to champion originality to rich people who have no idea what that means.

It's why we're stuck in an infinite loop of reboots/sequels/prequels and why now every retarded marvel comic that literally nobody read will be made into a multi-movie franchise.
On the off chance that a new idea ACTUALLY makes it through the pitching stage, it will be bastardized and sanitized to shit by network executives by the time it reaches the audience.
