I never got to watch the show as a kid besides a few times it was on at someone else's place because we never had Foxtel growing up. I only got to watch the show in my late teens and it was on a harddrive so I got to watch episodes back to back instead of seeing them when they were new, so no nostalgia. Luckily that also proves the point that post-movie SpongeBob is actually shit and not just a nostalgia-glasses thing because the dive in quality is very noticeable. I didn't even bother watching all the episodes post-season 3, but sometimes my sister would watch them and that's how I saw One Coarse Meal.

I'd believe that

Steven and Garnet need to track down Peridot (a temporary villain introduced at the end of season 1) to capture her/stop her evil plan. They go to Peridot’s lab and find “forced fusions” which are gems that have been shattered and fused together so that they reform into an abomination that constantly screams/groans in pain. Garnet saw it and got traumatized because it’s an obvious rape metaphor, and the thing starts grabbing her and struggling between trying to kill her and asking for help.
That episode also mentioned “The Cluster” which is a literal Earth’s core sized version of the rape-fusion that’s actually a shitty ripoff of Transformer’s Unicron (because Rebecca Sugar is a hack writer).

Peridot’s job was to check up on the ‘Cluster‘(Unicron) and the other rape-monster experiments to make sure everything was according to keikaku.
