When you promise a release date yourself and you are so mentally retarded you can't release the fucking episodes on time, but you release them 6 months later than you originally wanted. It took them 7 years to finally get a webseries out and they were planning on a game to be released for 2014. Hasbro is a lot of "let's say and do this, anyone offering? no one? okay find me someone who will do it ... 7 years later ..."

Too bad for them cause they could had been the superior Netflix. Netflix's problem is that they release the entire "season" in 1 batch and then you have to wait 1.5-2 years till another batch of episodes.
If Hanazuki had released 9 episodes or so every 2 months it could have kept interest going just like Helluva Boss.

This show deserved better. It scratched my itch for cute shows and had some GL shit going on with its emotional spectrum.

I really love this aesthetic, same for that one episode where Hana goes to the dead moon. Are there any cartoons with a monocrome aesthetic?

They really needed to give the moonflowers offensive capabilities to make the action faster and less tower defense-y.

The comics were almost all just badly traced screen grabs from the show. Nothing visually interesting or new about them. A crime, really.

Some of these designs are better than the show's.
And yeah in the game things connect a lot more logically. You can't just spawn trees all willy nilly, you have to spawn them by making the hemkas themselves happy and then you also have to feed the fucking tree, you can't leave it alone. Which they inconsistently do in the show.

Pros:
Rare-as-fuck fantasy space setting, great backgrounds that rival Tron Uprising.
Somewhat decent main character and cute design
Super Mario Galaxy/Pikmin the cartoon show
Terraria-like soundtrack
Actually manages to finish at least 1 season before getting cancelled.

Cons:
Only 10 minute episodes.
Everyone except the main character is an idiot. Every character feels like Despicable Me's Minions or Uncle Grandpa's characters.
World building is severely lacking and the art design is all over the place as well as the genre; it can't tell if it wants to be adventure, comedy, slapstick, drama, horror.
Movie cancelled.
Ends after 8 episodes in season 2.
Incredibly immature, obnoxious, full of unfunny jokes and unfunny characters.

The concept and setting is definitely fresh. Hasbro of all things didn't deserve it. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I wish it was picked up by disney instead.
