I like Mai

I like Mai.

Not with Zuko. I hate her final pairing. Maiko fucking sucks.

But I like Mai. Her deadpan nature is amusing.

Me too

Agreed, I've never had a problem with Mai in the show. She plays off well with Azula and Ty-Lee, her design is cute, and she has a nice voice. She just has no chemistry with Zuko.

I like her slenderness and long arms, and her haircut

can't believe that one porn comic has her in a poly relationship with Zuko and Katarra. that's bullshit if you ask me.

As others have said in the past, Mai is the one ATLA character who suffers the most from the show being for kids. Imagine if it were more mature, and she actually got to hit people with her knives and darts. Her threat factor and fear element would go through the roof. I mean she's basically a ninja assassin.

She needs more porn.

Yeah, I feel like she had more story potential simply developing what her relationships with Ty Lee and Azula were like than she did dating Zuko.

Her and Zuko are both characters known for being emotionally closed off, so just abruptly pushing them into a relationship without build-up felt like wasted potential because it never really expands upon their chemistry or what they actually like about each other beyond them both being angsty.

>Yeah, I feel like she had more story potential simply developing what her relationships with Ty Lee and Azula were like than she did dating Zuko.
Honestly, who feels like we missed a Tales of Ba Sing Se segment detailing their time in Ba Sing Se as Azula sets the ground work for the coup.

That and an episode in S3 that not only goes into detail about how their relationships with each other works but to also plant the seeds for Mai and Ty Lee's betrayals.

Thing you could develop: just what does Azula HAVE on her, anyway?

We openly see Azula threaten Ty Lee in "Return to Omashu." Ty Lee follows Azula out of a mix of love and fear. Easy enough.

But why does Mai join her? They're old friends, we get that. But so was Ty Lee, and Azula still had to coerce her to join up for her hunt for Zuko and for Aang. Yet we see Mai buddy back up to Azula at the drop of a hat, without any coercion. She doesn't even seem to mind the safety of her own baby brother, at least not in the episode.

So what's the deal with that? I would have liked to know. Is there some history between Azula and Mai that we don't know about? Or is Mai really just that flat, nihilistic, and bored? But of course she can't be, because otherwise she'd never feel anything for Zuko. So what's her deal?

>Thing you could develop: just what does Azula HAVE on her, anyway?
The comics imply that Mai that Mai was always scared of Azula and so she followed Azula because she knew that the moment Azula showed up, she could not refuse any of Azula's demands. And that her refusing to trade for her brother is due to Azula testing her and Mai realizing that there was only one correct answer that didn't end with her and/or her family being severely punished and/or killed.

It's a bit of a trope in fanfiction to make her Zuko's secret spy master which is pretty cool.

realistically her face would be Asian++, long with really thin slanted eyes, like those Japanese paintings

This kind of makes both of them and the trio in general during the show severely more boring in retrospect.

>This kind of makes both of them and the trio in general during the show severely more boring in retrospect.
Apparently Avatar Studios is going down the path that they were never friends, or had any feelings of friendship, in favor of them being essentially Azula's slaves. 1/2

There is no second image, my bad anons

Yeah, even if it's just a scene of Ty Lee trying to talk Mai out of doing anything crazy after Zuko leaves because she's scared for her would be a nice setup to reemphasizing how Ty Lee's loyalties are born from fear but she still genuinely cares about Mai.

If there's one thing ATLA sucked at, it was any Romantic relationship that wasn't with Sokka.

>sokka relationship
>good

Did the dude who wrote this read Object Lesson? Because this is Object Lesson Azula to a T. This is literally exactly how Second Harrier writes Azula teaching Aang.

I don't know but what I do know is that the TRPG was made in collobaration with Avatar Studios, with Bryke playing a really big role in regards to the Roku era stuff like Princess Zeisan.

Also, here is some info on what post-Smoke and Shadow Azula is doing.

They're weirdly backtracking everything regarding Azula after the show.
>Ty-Lee and Mai weren't really friends with Azula, they never actually liked her.
>Azula isn't actually bad you gais, give her redemption arc.

>Azula isn't actually bad you gais, give her redemption arc.
lolwut they've done the complete opposite of this

Mai is pale as fuck

>They're weirdly backtracking everything regarding Azula after the show.
>>Ty-Lee and Mai weren't really friends with Azula, they never actually liked her.
>>Azula isn't actually bad you gais, give her redemption arc.
In my opinion, the reason why they are backtracking is because they need a recognizable and credible villain if they want to have fans continue to care about stories set in Aang's era considering there is no one other than Yakone who can really pose a threat to the post-war Gaang. Hence why, for example, Azula learns smokebending, gets a buff in her H2H skills and firebending, and becomes the GOAT lightingbender. And why I think they are setting up Azula to be the final boss of Aang's era so they can end his time as the Avatar with a worthy opponent.

When edit threads roll around Mai never gets edited

Its always azula and ty lee in the beach episode, never mai in the same episode

Lol u like emotionless sex, user?
Imagine.

Good point. Though sue to the Avatar state even Azula won't be able to beat Aang, which is why she mainly fights Zuko.

Mai is the only non-virgin of the trio, unless ty lee had a fling in the circus, but most likely Mai is the only one with experience. Plus her in control with that bored tone would be hot as would being good enough to get her expressive like she never is so only you know that side of her.

Watch them give Azusa psychic fire and/or lighting bending so she can be a threat to AS Aang.

Not to mention her being around cool characters (Zuko, Azula, Ty Lee) only expose her character even more.

It's like their trying to make the character lame and unlikeable.

Mai was a victim of having an extremely lethal skill in a children's show, even fire was like energy blasts most of the time instead of just deep frying people that got hit

That's bullshit, specially for Ty Lee that acts like she likes spending time with Azula, when they first see each other after years and she hugs her?, is she supose to also be afraid of her?

She's strong (basically) and if Zuko is strong he won't die, ez

Oi

nananananana

Mai goes without complaint even thanking her for saving her from her boredom. Acting like they were just beholden to her every whim makes it way less interesting. It being a situation of "We liked her but also we couldn't really say anything to her when she went over the line because we were scared of siding against her." Or maybe they were better friends at one point but now it's morphed into this.

Instead it's just "a bloo bloo azula is.... LE BAD!" with no responsibility taken for their own actions or how they both seemingly enjoyed it.

With Ty Lee you can argue that while their was a friendship, it was clearly a toxic and domineering friendship that was pretty much one-sided on the part of Ty Lee when it comes to being genuine. Ty Lee was Azula's friend, but Azula was not Ty Lee's friend. With Mai you never get the feeling of any camaraderie, she's just in it for the violence.

Someone in an Avatar thread once posited that Ty Lee and Mai's relationship with Azula would be better served reworking them into Azula's tard wranglers, high ranking nobility and functionaries who smooth over interactions and facilitate Azula's plans because she's a haughty, dismissive, and commandeering royal with no idea how the world works outside of servants immediately catering to your every whim no matter how impractical.

I like Mai but she really is just a blah. If I were king she'd be first against the wall.

Didnt Aang get defeated on the comics by a bunch of un-well sick teenagers with a little smoke?

There's a scene in Book 2 where she's chasing the Gaang, they get away from her, and she just gives a quite little "hmph" and leaves. At that moment she became my favorite side character.
I honestly don't hate her relationship with Zuko as character development, since it's a fine way to introduce them as emotionally repressed/damaged teenagers, but as an actual ship it's terrible. Not what either of them need. This () is much better, top tier.
>Azula isn't actually bad you gais, give her redemption arc.
This always annoys me, and I like Azula redemption arcs as an idea. Make her a bad person who manages to do good things in certain limited circumstances! A rabid dog on a tight leash, a necessary extremist who sees opportunities morally upright people miss.

Attached: the_spirit_world.png (480x640, 184.11K)

Maybe Azula arrives at chaotic neutral, will use scenarios to extend her own goals but will also prevent plots to disrupt things that benefit her but also their world, like, protecting Zuko from being overthrown or taking apart an insurgent ex fire nation force working as mercs because it disgraces the nation or something. Just a wildcard that shows up and you don't know if it's good or bad or both.

Or she comes to understand her short comings and listens to others to hold her to moral standards, but due to her mindset can also see conspiracies and manipulations from a mile away while others can't.

I really like the chaotic neutral idea. To make things even more confusing for the audience, you could have her do good things for bad reasons and make it unclear if she's lying about them. "Oh, those Earth Kingdom bandits I wiped out? Disrupting salt imports to the Fire Nation colonies." A geopolitics tsundere.
Also have some more Mai.

>those armpits
sheesh.

"I like the kind of woman who will actually just kill me. You know, when I left the village today I was thinking "Damn, I really hope some gloomy chick paints my blood all over the fucking sand". And here we are. I mean really, just absolutely destroy me. I'm talkin' full on, beach-ball-in-armpit level carnage..."

Mai is pretty fun to watch. But yeah, Maiko is not a good ship.

the comics completely ruin that ship along her character desu

I tend to like thicker girls but I like a nice /fit/ girl sometimes too, and Mai is the latter here.

>Zuko got to cum all over this
dam.

kek

I love this gloomy girl/happy guy pairing.

It just ain't right, lads...

Too right, Captcha, too right.

Literal state mandated goth gf.

Yes, yes he did.

I disagree, outside the comics, they are a good couple.

Pale girls are sexy.

They are pretty good.
Those leggings really ruin the outfit.

He also got to cum all over her face at will.

This is some dumb shit.

>This is some dumb shit.
So what do you think about this then?

Attached: Azula's lighting sphere 2.jpg (2520x1924, 1.39M)

That make no sense, even ignoring how that's not how lightning work, why the fuck would they follow a ball of electricity instead of a random fire ball? Both are bright lights.
