>people absolutely cannot ever watch a cartoon that aired before they were born

OP didn't say that, retard.
They asked about how they feel about discussions that they don't have the luxury of experiencing a show as it airs.
"Before the dust has settled" threads are very active. "After", the show's facts and opinions have basically been solidified.

Depends on if I'm familiar with it or not.

Most of the time I'll just ignore the discussion because it's irrelevant to me.

Idk, it either doesn't interest me or I go binge the series. Depends on if it's good animation, or shitty disney wahoo crap.

That's a very charitable interpretation of what seems to be a very stupidly worded question.

i’m 22 and watching btas and really enjoying it

I am a 39 yo wizard and hate Steven Universe

I'm 40 and I admit that many of the cartoons I grew up with aged poorly.

I thought Steven Universe was ok (for the most part).

Not any different for me considering I grew up on reruns and vhs tapes.
I used to wake up at 4am to watch rocko's modern life.

Nothing because I can just watch what they watched now and get my own opinion on it instead of taking their word

I don't feel anything because I don't go in those threads.

>I thought Steven Universe was ok (for the most part).
You need to raise them standies, mf.

>I admit that many of the cartoons I grew up with aged poorly.
Fucking cuck! I feel shame for you!

based

Honestly I see a lot of younger posters talking about how old thing actually bad. The few times I see anyone particularly young or who weren't alive when they first aired saying anything remotely positive about a cartoon is few and far between. But it's still extremely welcome if nothing else.

Quick, use your wizard powers to erase it from existence!

I don't see too many threads about cartoons before I was born, and I was born in 95. if it is a thread for a cartoon I don't know about I usually ignore it because I don't know anything about it, the same goes for modern cartoons I haven't seen.

Oh please, you gay retards will reply to every stupidly worded thread with absolute sincerity and never think twice about it.

>Legit question for newfags, how do you feel when we oldfags talk about cartoons that aired before you were born?
It's alright, it makes sense to talk about cartoons from your era.
What however, fucks me up, is when oldfags mention they're be browsing Yea Forums since when I was a kid.

>What is critical thinking?

Personally I think older cartoons were generally better back then. There were definitely a few misses among the hits, as with any generation, but I feel as though we're just getting more misses these days compared to the previous gens.
t. 19 year old newfag

ok groomer

Something I'm not going to pretend to use on a spongebob thread on a cartoon forum to disingenuously defend OP.

go back to twitter or wherever the fuck you came from if you want to misinterpret every innocuous fucking statement so you can seethe about it faggot

Genuine question. There any cultural references to things that you don't get because they're mostly obsolete? I.E. Answering machines and public pay phones and the like.

1) It's not a Spongebob thread
2) I wasn't defending or disagreeing with OP, just pointing out how you misinterpreted his post.
3) You're still misinterpreting posts.
4) You're still being retarded.

Not necessarily. While I definitely didn't experience them firsthand, I pretty much got taught what the gist of those things were specifically because of cartoons and TV shows. I never went "What on earth is that thing they're talking about?" And I went more like "Oh, that's something that existed in this world and that's how it worked, neat." I don't know how else to describe it, if that didn't make sense.

I've got a better question for newfags at least for those who enter the world of big two comics. Did you feel overwhelmed when you first began reading comics with continuity being as it is?were you confused or did see it as a challenge to be taken? Were you surprised at how radically different things are compared to the movies/shows/games etc?

I just found out that Darkwing Duck premiered on my birthday. That's kinda neat. My brother got a poster signed by Jim Cummings for me. It's neat.

Fair enough. Similar thing happened when I grew up watching old looney tunes shorts.

Steven Universe is a mixed bag for me. It has some good episodes, but some episodes are so bad that makes me question if the good episodes are worth it. Great porn though.

In all honesty, I'm kind of jealous of the old fags for having been able to experience old media when it was "new". Like I said here , it may be the rose tinted glasses and hindsight, but I really feel like I missed out on something great all because I was born too late for any of it. Back when the world was simpler and more innocent compared to now

Bump

Nah, it is possible to know the function but not the name, I know a phonograph is a medium that carries audio information, if you explain or show that in the series, I know the function. Aka you put the disk in a machine and it starts playing sound.

If you tell me 'cassete tapes' without showing me what it does in context, putting it in the machine so it plays music. I do would not know this was a medium used to carry sound, so it falls flat if people are just talking about it like they do here in the clip.

What's a telephone magnetos? No, I won't google it.

>it is possible to know the function but not the name
Fuck user, you are really stupid

How come? You see it in sci-fi or fantasy movies all the time. I see some magic crystal bullshit that I have no idea what it is, but I know it contains energy/power/information or whatever that is relevant for the plot.

I take a look and if the cartoon is good I watch it. Most of the time I think the oldfags know what they're talking about.

i die a little inside because basically everything cool happened before i was born or before i grew up and i hate it, t. 18 year old born in 2003.

You ever seen Looney Tunes?

You wouldn't happen to be the same user from , would you?

Considering that my favorite cartoons were either canceled/ended or on the way out before I was born, I don't really feel weird about it.

the very same user, yes. why?

I feel like it's my really old grandpa trying to show me the shit he loved as a kid, with mixed results.

That's why we have remakes, the kiddies just love seeing the reboots of old stuff.

Just recognized you is all

what

why zoomers think everything is a personal attack?

30 wizard faggot here and is an absolute "eh".
Between people saying is the second coming of jesus and retards saying is the end of civilization, i'm just wondering why should i even care beyond wanting to fuck lapis and pearl.

I am 18, but grew up on a third world country where everything came to my access waaay later
My favorite shows as a kid were Samurai Jack, Spongebob, and Dexter, and then when Chowder first aired (in 2012) I was obsessed with it too, and a few years later I got to see the first season of Adventure Time which blew my mind, maybe these aren't considered old, but I've seen people here call it old, so I guess I can concur with the boomers

I guess I’m not really a newfag anymore but stuff like Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures aired before I was born but it’s not weird since I watched reruns when I was a kid.

neglection, it's why the double down on tats, colored hairs and activism.

I don’t feel anything due to the fact that I either watched reruns of those shows or have the general geist of what they are about

Kind of makes me feel like I missed out on a really unique era for cartoons.
I know it's still possible to go back and watch these shows now, but the experience of those early communities and the public's first reaction to these shows is something that I kind of wish I had the chance of living through.

My only two questions for oldfags would be what their personal experience was like during those older eras of cartoons, and if it really is better than now or if that's just nostalgia talking.

I hated btas when I was 6-7, rewatched when I was 10 and loved the shit out of it. Superman animated still sucks.

It lets me find out about gems like image related. I wouldn't have started Judge Dredd case files if it wasn't for this place and Judge user (I was worried it'd be as shit as the 2012 film, turns out it has the best page layout and art of any comic I know, though I've read mostly trash).
I wish a lot of older cartoons aired whilst I was growing up but I'm lucky that Looney Tunes was still occasionally being put on. I can't imagine growing up thinking Looney is that gay furry talking sitcom instead of that gay animal action-comedy perfection.

If entertainment boards actually talked more about the old stuff rather than the current stuff... well there'd be less threads but it'd filter the crap.

Attached: batgaze.jpg (500x431, 33.52K)

wait this counts as old? does this mean I'm old?

It actually was better then, but mostly because we didn't have Twitter or any social media algorithms. There were web communities, yes, but they were social groups rather than machine-collected echo chambers.

There's a comic called "Elf Only Inn" that kind of illustrated the feel of SOME of the old fandom stuff. Like you were trapped in a small room with a bunch of wrong-thinking assholes you got to know. That's all very late nineties, early 2000's.

Today, you're often told not only about the shows, but what to think of them. Usually what to be mad about, or what low-hanging "feelings" moment to worship. And before the internet was popular, you just talked among the friends you knew.

I mean 2001 happened 21 years ago so...yeah

You're a middle aged dude...

just read that whole thread... 04fag here, it hurts bro's
