I take it by script you mean dialog stuff? And yeah I can see that. Lost in translation things. It gets weirder with puns that have been translated in dialog but are present in the background art, something I noticed because I managed to snag a French translation when I was in germany once.
I definitely remember liking the direction the plot was going where I left off. The writers have an axe to grind with the Vatican, and it shows. And there is a sense that in Aqua that while that space cult/religion wasn't that great for its own people either, and were up to sketchy stuff they didn't deserve what amounts to a slow extinction, because Cat-Vatican didn't like the competition. Not so much a "god is stupid and dumb" more of a power structure critique. There was definitely a one-off side story that read like a horror thing.

I like almost all of Moebius' stuff and some Jodo's stuff better than The Incal.
It is quite overhyped. It's one of those comics that's weirdly put on a pedestal, like the Akira manga, mainly for the art, because it's foreign, and because the story is trippy.
Still, hope you enjoy it, at least for the art.

Always take a comicfags opinion with a grain of salt, but Especially take their criticisms with a heaping helping of salt.
I can't tell you how many times I've heard comicfags complain about "Shitty art" or "Shitty writing", for stuff that was not only serviceable, but above average to being pretty good. They'd be the type of people to unironically complain that a video game shit cuz it doesn't support up to 16Kp.

Of course there are people that preach donkey shit like its gospel, I never said there wasn't. that's why there were/are so many SU/Raya/Turning Red threads, people with objectively shit taste squealing about good their thing is.
But there are still plenty of people who will shit on perfectly good media and act like it's existence is an insult to their mother. And more often than not, you can find these types of people as comicfags complaining about comicbook art as if they expected the artists to spend a month each on each and every panel, or that the level of writing wasn't on par with Journey to the West or something, when if you read it yourself you might say that the art is actually really good and you enjoyed the writing.
