Not even taking into account the style, kids grow up at different rates (and some Asians in particular continue to look little and squat through their teen years). something I *did* learn from the book though, is that even though they hype up the all female leadership team on Turning Red, artists with dude-sounding names are a big influence on this movie.
Heck it was dude artists who storyboarded the red peony scene (co-storyboarded with Domee Shi) and the "you forgot your pads" scene.
