Why did Crunchyroll users review bomb it, filled Youtube with videos talking ill about it, and harassed the creators nonstop? Was it really that bad?

Yes. /thread

nah the reveal promo was just shitty and the internet reactionaries got in a huff about it

It's an anime-inspired cartoon that was produced by an irrelevant anime streaming service, you're better off rewatching Kappa Mikey.

>It's an anime-inspired cartoon
...is it really?

It was mediocre but not terrible. The news that Crunchyroll was making new cartoons with subscription money was what revved the engines then came the promo which is what made the vitriol explode.

Combination of a really bad reveal video, weebs, culture wars bullshit, etc. that blew out of proportion.

It was okay. The worldbuilding was nonexistent, the voice acting was a mixed bag, and there's some animation hiccups, but there's far worse shit out there that didn't get the outrage this did.

>high guardian spice
>spice
>all the girls are named after herbs

Knew this was going to be the very first reply.

>Crunchyroll finally reveals what it's been doing with all its subscribers money
>It's starting it's own animation studio
>Fans already seething a little because they wanted the money going to the actual animation industry
>One of the first reveals is HGS
>Absolutely terrible reveal, nothing about the show itself other than some generic western cartoon looking concept art, trailer is more interested in showing off the "diversity" of the writing staff
>Weebs absolutely flip their shit
>Trailer downvoted into oblivion, shit talked everywhere, absolutely no one is defending it
>Crunchyroll starts getting cold feet and just goes dead silent on the show
>Presumably between this period of silence and the next trailer they're pulling funding out of this show like a motherfucker, deadlines being pushed, a bunch of changes to the script demanded
>Next trailer finally airs several years later after everyone forgot about it
>Seething starts coming up again
>Crunchy decides to air it almost under the table
>The production quality of the show it an absolute disaster, the show itself is just kinda mediocre
>People immediately begin shitting on the show, the hate is more popular than the show itself
>Crunchy just pretends the whole thing doesn't exist and moves on
The show was a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy honestly, if it wasn't for that absolutely abysmal first trailer the show wouldn't have generated anywhere near as much hate as it did, as a result crunchy wouldn't have tried pulling the plug on it almost immediately and the quality of the show would be slightly better, and no one would have cared about it that much. Don't get me wrong, it'd still be entirely forgettable and have some really cringey moments, but it wouldn't have become the punching bag it is now.

Yeah, it's the type of snowball effect where it's pretty easy to surmise that the majority of people who really loathe it haven't even seen a full episode. People just like to get in on the fad and run things into the ground.

your show sucked you worthles sjw troon
DIE MAD

spacing gave you away
get lost

What's the main plot about then?

i've been meaning to draw something new whenever a thread comes up, but I haven't been feeling very inspired lately.

Come now old chap, there were some fun things to be found, and we all know you jacked it to Olive at least 5 times, now didn't you?

It's worse.

I mean, I jacked off to the characters so I guess that’s worth something.

I watched like 5 episodes and stopped because it was boring and the narrative wasn't that clear.

The only good thing that came out of that studio was Onyx Equinox and even then a lot of people don't talk about because mid = irrelevant. The show has it's problems and clichés, but it's easier to digest than HGS.

Garbage writing bad pacing no real set rules/world building, Yeah it was that bad honestly.

It's bad because it's mediocre and boring (no, waifus can't save it). Plot is bad, animation is awful, writing is artificial and there's almost no worldbuilding (in a fucking fantasy show).
At this point videos of people shitting on HGS are more enjoyable than the show itself.

Based.

the only thing good about it was amaryllis

I think people could forgive all of the initial blunders if the final product wasn't so underwhelming.

Didn't watch it. I had my fill of Kate Leth back when she made webcomics. You'd have to pay me to watch this thing.

>It was mediocre but not terrible
I watched the first episode and it was awful

It gets a little better after that, it's still pretty much a complete waste of time but nothing worth the endless hate it gets.
In my defense, I was only watching it hoping it would be so spectacularly shit that the shittyness itself became a spectacle, sadly outside of the tranny part it never really got that bad.

It didn't even have the right to exist.

There's a lot of beanhead going on and the main cast are magical girls.
And then looking at all I can think is this is stylistically anime but with slightly more effort put into the animation.

It's like ATLA

>but nothing worth the endless hate it gets.
Ironically that hate, deserved or not, is the best thing what could happen to it, since it makes sure the show gets actual attention.
Without all that drama it would have been forgotten even faster.

Wanna get lost in her thighs

Is sbeben buniverse but the second coming.
I refuse to acknowledge lesbians rocks by the correct name of the retarded show.
This was just that. But uh, less gay? Also I think less childporn made by the creator. Unsure.

Do you need a hook or just theme? I'm all for love hate Aster or Rose pić or just more pregger stuff.

Forgot the pic for my Rose x Aster OTP.

Not my day I guess.

Wasn't good, but it wasn't bad enough to warrant all the hate it got. It fumbles themes and lore, the plot is generic but not unwatchable and the characters are decent enough that I didn't mind watching them even if there wasn't a single character/archetype that I've seen done better in other media. It was consistently 4/10 except for the two parter in the middle that was actually 8/10

If its any personal consultation, Amaryllis's VA has received nothing but praise for her portrayal of this character.

It doesnt mean much for the long term of this IP but as a VA i'd feel so happy if something came from this shit fire of an IP that almost bankrupted Crunchyroll.

I never review bombed it or anything but I can get why crunchy roll subscribers were angry. Wasting money on this shit when they could have instead actually paid voice actors a decent wage or improved their service in some way would have made me mad as well

I'll die mad that it still gets more attention than Onyx Equinox, which was actually good

Go woke
Go broke
Everytime, unless a jewish banker is paying you to do so.

I wish it was Aster on the right due to personal preference but otherwise it's still perfect, great job.

isnt there a hgs week at twitter sometime, maybe you can look there
if it actualy happens

sure, although its kind weird because I decided to use an ugly bastard because I internalized aster and salt for some reason.

I haven't done too much for Princess of Power beyond some doodles when it was first announced. I tried going some straight shota stuff with her theoretical nephew but I didn't go anywhere with it. It was probably too esoteric.

I heard about it, although I haven't seen too much stuff that came out of it that caught my interest. I am search banned anywhere so I won't be able to inject much into that conversation, I shouldn't anyway, most of my recent stuff are porn.

I get you, but I find Aster doing the ugly bastard thing with his well intentioned sexism and stupidity too funny. Knock up Rose? Aster. Snap and Sage having a happy relationship? Aster fucks Snap and sends Sage a magical recording of it, NTRing them.

I'd do the yellow dwarf, she's the fattest here. And it's still not enough for me. I want her even fatter

itt people that never watched an anime in their life and only know of them from simpsons or futurama parodies.

Having higher production quality would be nice but wouldn't fix the horrible writing and tone problems. There are a lot of points where they tried to do multiple conflicting things at once. It was very obvious that the writer's room was hesitant to reject ANY idea so they just crammed every stupid whim into the show.

If Raye ever gets a chance at a season 2, they need to fire the entire writing staff and hire some professionals. There were some good ideas in there, but they didn't have the management or teamwork skills to make a good final script.

They should be using subscription money to fix their fucking video player

>Go woke
>Go broke
never happened lmao

slightly more effort in the animation? Dude, it's probably just tweening, look at the trailer. If you rewatch the clip you quoted, her arm is just inbetween between a couple of generic arm positions any untrained cartoonist can doodle, good anime animators actually have the ability to, you know, foreshorten arms.

>this is stylistically anime but with slightly more effort put into the animation.

Attached: laughing-cartoon.gif (498x370, 423.69K)

I like how they cowardly refused to make the Dwarf a Dwarf so they ended up a loli.

They didn't go woke. They just entirely didnt get who their base was. They want anime, and CR gives a western cartoon. Of course they flipped their shit.

Even Tumblr types and Crunchyroll shills hated it

trying too hard

this show made me punch a hole in my wall in blinding rage

fpbp

You're grossly insulting ATLA, and I say that as someone who considered it a channel changer.
