I can't believe we wasted Ethan Hawke and Oscar Isaac on this shit
I can't believe we wasted Ethan Hawke and Oscar Isaac on this shit
I don't understand why they were hyping up this to be some sort of brutal TV show that would serve as a character study on mental health and then present something that feels like a PG-13 mix between The Mummy and Assassins Creed.
it is the first remotely good MCU thing in several years
I was kinda hoping for something more of a mix between Daredevil and Legion but I guess I should've known better than MCU doesn't do "experimental" well.
that's been marvel's strategy for years, winter soldier was described as a "70's political thriller" by feige and black panther was meant to be their james bond according to coogler.
Well, explains why faggots were hyping up Jessica Jones as some kind of psychological horror thing but in the end it was just shit.
I like Moon Knight
Neither of these things happened, it was described as Indiana Jones meets capeshit and Winter Soldier was just Captain America but less of a boyscout
Literally the best acting performance Oscar Issac has done
It feels like it has the potential to be good, but Disney shows have a tendency to just bait people to watching until the end without delivering so I have pretty low expectations.
Its almost like MCU shows are for babies.
>Neither of these things happened
>According to SFX magazine, Feige said, "We hired our directors on Cap because they loved our explanation that we really want to make a '70s political thriller masquerading as a big superhero movie. Just like with the first film – we got Joe Johnston because we said, 'We want to do a '40s World War Two movie masquerading as a big superhero movie.'
comicbook.com
>"When I first started talking to Marvel, one thing they were interested in was for Panther to be their version of James Bond, which I thought was incredibly interesting and exciting," Coogler said.

I mean, if you have only ever seen Sucker Punch and Star Wars, sure.
>some sort of brutal TV show that would serve as a character study on mental health
It's on Disney+, dude.
>Oscar Isaac
Oscar Isaac is quite shitty usually and he is even worse in Moon Knight, and i say that as hispanic, Ethan Hawke is horrible here too, but May Calamawy looks really cute, good pick.
is not
>hahaha boyega can’t get any work! Not like our superstar Isaac nigger btfo
>moonknight is shit with Isaac at the helm
>why did moonknight waste issac
Lmao
LMAO
Oh boy, Yea Forumsntrarianism kicking in once again on a genuinely good show
Is it possible to say "I don't like this Disney TV show" around here without being called a contrarian?
Did they black wash another redhead? Or is this Layla supposed to be something else?
Yes of course it's possible, if you have a genuine opinion and a reason to post it people will see you aren't simply a contrarian.
Yea Forums is reddit shill central without upvotes at this point, so no.
And of course it's your faggot ass is to decide what constitutes "a genuine opinion". Fuck off.
>Yea Forums is reddit shill central without upvotes
Words
Yes, she is Nafri now because tokenism
It's pretty apparent that this show is the latest of their marvel tv programs.
Yes. In fact shitting on Disney is the norm for Yea Forums and always have been.
Doesn't change the fact that the show is good and your are a faggot.
Disney rapes children.
>Yes of course it's possible, if you have a genuine opinion and a reason to post it people will see you aren't simply a contrarian.
I think that uaving Moon Knight summoning the suits over himself while he has a rasp voice on his head makes he seem like a Venom derivative.
Furthermore, each personality summoning a different suit is goofy.
So, am I allowed to have these opinions?
Not him but Venom was shit and so far removed from the material it’s not even funny. Having each personality with a different suit is in line with the character, and I don’t see what’s “goofy” about it.
Though I’m not a fan of Mr. Knight being this version of Steven. I just hope Jake takes over the persona
>remotely
Very remotely. Like not even anywhere near good.
>Having each personality with a different suit is in line with the character
How so? When has the ever been the case?
Not him but it’s better than Eternals, Shang Chi, WandaVision, F&WS, Loki, and yes even NWH (Because nostalgia doesn’t forgive a weak script). MCU has been floundering until now. But it’s only been 2 episodes so it could very well dip from here
Marc’s characterization, explanation for his mental state, and “powers” (good luck and returning from the dead) have varied and have been outright vague for years. To say “not muh” on Moon Knight is a stupid statement to make frankly. There’s been panels where “Moon Knight” said no to helping a hero but “Mister Knight” agreed
So far, all the people that dislike it are able to voice their complaints, while those who like it are just spewing hyperbole shit like "this is the craziest show ever", "this is the best acting i n he history of Oscar Isacs's career" or "this has the best fight scenes of all time", all of whice are obviously bullshit.
So, why don't you explain what is it that makes the show so amazing for you?
Why the fuck did they decide to turn Moon Knight into literally Civil War 2?
Also yes, IF the goddess' time traveling sense of Justice is accurate (and the MCU is a deterministic universe), the villains ARE absolutely in the right. I look forward to the show never addressing that issue AND completely disregarding/dismantling any of the actual good the villains have done because "hum... they're a creepy cult! And killing baby Hitler is wrong actually!"
Yeah that's fine. Watching the trailers I hated the idea of summoning the suit but it works well for the live action adaptation of the character imo
Wandavision and NWH were pure kino though. Loki, Shang Chi and even FATWS were well received
>To say “not muh” on Moon Knight is a stupid statement to make frankly.
Is that what I did?
I said that each personality summoning a different suit is goofy, you said it was just like the comics. I asked for examples of that and you were unable to provide.
I don't care about Moon Knight. I think the character has become the last bastion of the Warren Ellis sort of writing that I hate so fucking much.
I think the cinematography is pretty solid. Framed shots like Khonshu observing Steven/Harrow, the use of mirrors, etc. I also like the subtle hints of Jake or the way the script is constructed where we could say all of this really could be in Steven’s head (Like the jackals not showing up on film or even seen by others). Also helps that the show didn’t shy away from Marc’s merc background
But that said this version of Steven is admittedly weaker, but given the context and effort to present a lot of exposition to the layman I MIGHT forgive it. Though as said earlier, show quality could still dip
>I don't care about Moon Knight
So you already have a cynical bias that already begs the question as to why you’re even here. Also you still didn’t explain how it’s goofy, can you elaborate?
I mean, that's always the case with MCUfags. If you knew how many times I've heard "this new villain is totally the best capeshit villain ever" from them.
Moon Knight always changes in between runs though, this change with the suits is still comic faithful enough in the more grounded live action universe. The other user brought up this moment where Moon Knight says no but Mr Knight says yes, how would you do this in live action without the summoning? He is a goofy character let him be goofy
I like that it has made an effort to present a down-on-his-luck underdog character who has no desire to be a superhero. He's an endearing dork - he has nothing going his way, and he tries anyway.
And then in Episode 2 they made the implicit promise that it's about Cool Action Guy now, so even without the cringe CGI I'm worried about the direction the series is headed in. It's not unsalvageable, but most of my buy-in came when the protagonist was just the guy left with the lead-up and immediate aftermath of the action scenes. He was so much more human than "grr I kill for khonsu to protecc my girlfren" Marc Spector.
>So you already have a cynical bias that already begs the question as to why you’re even here
Because I'm not forbidden.
I wanted to see if the show would break the curse of being stuck to the way Warren Ellis completely rewrote the character like all post-Ellis runs are.
It bothers you that I find "each personality gets to summon a different suit of power" goofy? The character shouldn't even be summoning suits to begin with.
>muh Ellis
Oh please, the character has been utter shit since Huston. Actually no, fuck that. Since Dixon. Ellis didn't ruin anything that wasn't shit beforehand.
But then at least the character would be shit a different way, instead of being shit the Ellis way.
Huston is the one who came up with the retarded face-cutting edgy shit, how would it be any different from Ellis?
You still haven’t said why it’s goofy
>The character shouldn't even be summoning suits to begin with.
Why not?
I prefer this sort of edgy than Ellis pretentious edgy stuff.
Give me a crazy guy having an episode over some posh dude, wearing a suit, sitting with his legs crossed and saying stuff like "Gentleman, I am the Mr. Knight. I hope you don't mind it, but I am going to beat you all bloody" any day of the week.
The original user here. The appealing thing about the show thus far is how it's used Steven's POV to unfold the chaotic nature of Marc's existence without dumping much exposition. The tense relationship between the two of them, one stuck behind the mirror as his well-meaning plans rapidly fall apart, is both funny and tragic. I thought the first episode was better written than the second though, mainly it just has a confidence and flair in how it depicts increasingly surreal things intruding on the main character's life.
Basically it feels like a decent TV show with its own approach rather than bland MCU sludge. (Wandavision had something good going in that regard, but fell apart rapidly.)
It's just mediocre so far. The action isn't good, it feels like there's very little character conflict, and the villain isn't particularly interesting or threatening. The CGI being distractingly poor is only the cherry on top. We're a third of the way through the show and it's not yet given us a reason why any of this stuff is happening, nor why we should root for Moon Knight beyond "his name is the title". I've been watching with my parents and while they liked the first episode, neither of them really got what happened in the second.
Oscar Isaac is singlehandedly carrying most of this show through his acting. He's always pretty watchable, even in the Star Wars sequels.
Why are MCU shows held to such high standards?
mad white boi
No one is holding MCU show to high standards. If anything, it seems easier for MCU shows to be praised than any other.
Any other show that said "we took a deep look at DiD and set out to deliver an accurate deppiction of this mental issue" and then had the character talking to himself in the mirror would be lambasted beyond belief.
They aren't. Most of the Disney+ shit has just been lazy and bad.
>and the villain isn't particularly interesting or threatening
I feel like that's a problem for all Marvel shit that isn't Legion.
>b-but Netflix
No.
We just said most of the recent MCU has been shit until now. Wake up
>NOOO!! you can't point the obvious!!1!
who the fuck is we nigger
>>b-but Netflix
Eh, D'Onofrio's Kingpin was the only MCU villain who actually felt like a dangerous threat to the protagonists. And then they gimped him when he came back for Hawkeye so he's gone
But Ethan Hawke in this is just lame. He's some middle aged guy with a cane playing the standard generic cult leader trope with barely a hint of charisma
>oh he seems like a nice calm guy BUT HE KILLS PEOPLE TOO
yawn
