>Honestly, same. The scientist thing works and they built a decent story out of it but its not particularly strong since it just comes off like Rick Sanchez 2.0. They could've basically kept her as a no fun allowed accountant who can handle stress and given the science schtick to the druggie doctor, and it would've been funnier to see some normal office wagie handle off the wall shit without the science get out of jail free card.

I think it's fine so far, considering that these two are pretty much always the main focus. But yeah, it does feel like that outside of Reagan's father and the robot president the rest of their team are just kind of their to fill out the cast.

I think pretty much everyone who's watched the show feels the same way. Reagan and Brett alone are enough to keep me watching since they're both such great characters and share a fun dynamic, but they really shouldn't be carrying the show on their own.

Yeah, but I'm not sure what you can do with the rest of the cast beyond giving them all character arcs that go beyond their individual quirks. They don't really have a unique motivation or dynamic between any of them that I'm dying to see expanded on. Maybe build on the social media lady's potential desire to leave them for a rival company, or explain where Myc came from?
But given the season finale, the only side-character whose role I see them immediately doing more with is Robotus.

Rand feels like a pretty blatant play on Rick Sanchez, but I enjoy the idea of his role more simply because he's allowed to be an actual villain. If he was just an asshole who had to stick around for the goofs of the status quo it'd get old before long, but I like that they take a stance in Reagan being willing to draw a line with him regarding a point of no return in their relationship.

I think I'd like the side-characters on Reagan's team more if they weren't all just automatically Reagan's friend group at the end.
We see early on that Reagan is desperate for respect and real friendship, while the rest of her coworkers are just kind of assholes who don't like doing their jobs and see her as a nuisance. Which is part of why her story in becoming sincerely close with Brett is so nice, as we see two complete opposites get to know each other and connect in a wholesome way.
But the rest of the characters are just sort of lumped together, with them all either being equally hostile towards Reagan, or all being supportive of her depending on what the episode in question needs. I think if they were going to stand out more they needed a bit more one-on-one focus to establish more distinct relationships between them.

It's probably too late for the writers to have taken audience feedback into account for Season 1B, but I do hope they're aware of whatever issues the supporting cast suffers from and work hard to better establish them moving forward. Even with the serialized format, Inside Job is still a character-driven comedy, so make me WANT to see more of these characters.

She was literally born so Rand would have a potentially way back into Cognito if he ever lost his job, but Reagan herself worked really hard to get to where she is, and half the time gets little to no respect for it. Not once does she try to use her dad's name to garner respect (not that she could since he's a public embarrassment)
