You could say that for most of the characters, there is little consistency on how much the characters learn from their adventures, Anne is responsible one day and a complete idiot the other, Sprigs learns he doesn't have to be liked by everyone and later crashes a foodcar because he wants to be liked.
And you can say that for every character, Sasha learns friendship is more important that be in charge and becomes a 2dimensional villain the next episode, Grimes goes from a man with ambitions to being second fiddle.

Earth arc did 'move' the plot albeit unimpressively. It is unfortunate that certain elements just happened off-screen and were too quickly explained/resolved because "time was of the essence". Whether if it was corporate meddling or incompetent writing, the show clearly should have done better.

Three episodes difference would've taken 3A from good to legendary, but overall I'm having a great time with 3B! I'm really excited for the next episode, I've been looking forward too it all week.
Really hoping we get some interesting loredump about the prophecy and the calamity powers and more Sasha and Anne moments. Having those two reunite is the best the show has felt since Marcy at the Gates.
Also really happy we're getting a Grime and Sprig episode, those two both have the potential to be some of my favorite characters. Sprig may sometimes be kind of annoying, but I don't think I've ever been sad to see him get an episode focus. He's a funny, goofy little dude. Grime and the Toads are just badasses and have never had a bad scene. Very hyped for that.

Season one had the benefit of a clean slate and zero expectations. A simple morality tale or a silly episodic plotline was just fine because it wasn't detracting from something more serious that could be going on. It just introduced charming characters and decent humor, while also making the more surprisingly serious episodes all the more impactful when they finally did show up.
Season three had higher expectations, higher stakes, and a major shift in setting that sadly didn't serve either. So it's understandably a bit more frustrating when the tone doesn't at least try to follow up on the conflict that season two ended on.
