Sword of X 2

A Sword of X sequel is coming next year (2023) and will be Chris Claremont's swan song as he will be retiring from comics.

Will revolve around one of Claremont's most infamous dangling plotlines, Sat-Yr-9 and her plans for Kitty Pryde (who is destined to become the new guardian and administrator/caretaker of the multiverse). Along with addressing and retconning the massive plothole that is the "Moira was always a mutant scheming with Xavier/Magneto/Sinister to make life hell for mutants to create Krakoa" revelation (which Claremont REALLY REALLY doesn't like).

Editorial has put together a ton of dangling plotlines they want resolve and Louis Simonson will be working with Chris writing several tie-ins. This includes revisiting the concept of "The Twelve", Claremont's original plans for Nimrod, Shadow King, and Magik (in particular, the Bloodstones), and the infamous Maddie Pryor/Jean Grey/Scott Summers triangle.

Maddie's return at the end of Hellions happened for a reason and the rumor I'm hearing is that Claremont wants to establish Maddie as the "real Jean" and that the Jean that has been running around is the reviled Bendis written "Teen Jean"; who fake erased her memories and has been running around ever since and was the reason the Phoenix Force went evil when it impersonated her while "good Jean" was deposited into the Maddie clone body.

Apocalypse will also make his return during the story as a villain; this is due to editorial realizing they screwed up making all of the X-Men villains good guys. He will be in league with Shadow King, Nimrod, the now robot Moira, and Sat-Yr-9 in the story.

Sword of X 2 will also be a turning point for the Krakoa era. Editorial was informed that Disney wants the school status quo back in time for the X-Men movies, so expect it to end next year as part of Sword of X 2.

Some of this sounds cool, but I do like krakoa and hope we don't abandon it

And what pray tell, is your source?

Though we do know that Claremont is writing for Krakoa era now.
Hopefully he has a good editor who isn’t afraid of him.

yeah but I'll believe it when I see it

Glass Krakoa

BleedingCool did have a rumor today that Claremont was coming to Krakoa and there might be Sat-Yr-9 shit happening.

Apocalypse coming back and being a villain, the teen Jean thing, and resetting Krakoa to the school status quo all sound a little too much like Yea Forums fanfic though

also they can just do school stories on krakoa. it's long overdue anyway. call the book Xavier Academy or something like that

Which X-men would be teachers at this point?

Some of this sounds like complete shit but I hate krakoa and hope we abandon it asap

Really want to see the New Mutants become dedicated teachers like, well, almost like the current run.

This sounds...awful.

Bullshit, but ok.

They’re more like counselors right now than teachers.

Would also like to see Dani finally get her spotlight , girl deserves the head of something for a while now.

>Chris Claremont's swan song as he will be retiring from comics.
nigga still alive?

Turning New Mutants into a school book with the og New Mutants as teachers actually makes more sense than a new Xavier Academy book the more I think on it.

Surprised he hasn't died from a drug fueled orgy with a Storm cosplayer by now. (Rumours back in the day said he had sex with a dominatrix dressed like Storm.)

>Disney wants the school status quo back in time for the X-Men movies,
Back to not caring about X-men when this happens.

baseed

>Editorial was informed that Disney wants the school status quo back in time for the X-Men movies, so expect it to end next year as part of Sword of X 2.

Oh God!!! back to boring mutant holocaust stories.

>one of Claremont's most infamous dangling plotlines, Sat-Yr-9
I have no memory of this one, was it in Excalibur or his later Marvel stuff?

based if true

But that’s exactly what the New Mutants book was in the early 2000s. Then M-Day happened, and they changed everything and added X-23.

>Disney wants the school status quo back in time for the X-Men movies
Finally be able to care about the x-men again nice.

Yeah I much prefer boring creepy sex cult stories

Op, a little later for April's fool joke.

>Kitty Pryde (who is destined to become the new guardian and administrator/caretaker of the multiverse)
R.I.P the multiverse

Let the man be pegged in peace

>rumors started by Yea Forums

They hired a Storm cosplayer for that doc with Claremont for a reason. Also this is a well known rumour prior to Yea Forums.

IIRC it was started in 2004 by someone having a meltdown at Claremont bringing back Magneto and retconning Morrison's story with him as being an imposter. There's enough BDSM elements and Storm-waifuing in Claremont's work for it to sound plausible, but the source was so obviously someone with a nerd grudge against him that it's definitely suspect.

It was a rumour on the convention scene prior to 2004 though.

When's Sword of X 1 coming out tho? Because we had X of Swords, not Sword of X you fucking LARPer

Excalibur.

He quit the book without resolving the storyline, with Nazi Courtney Ross grooming Kitty. When Alan Davis was hired, he was ordered to wrap up all of Chris's plotlines, but Chris begged him to leave Sat-Yr-9's story unfinished. A compromise with editorial was that Alan unmasked Sat-Yr-9's as having killed the real Courtney and had her go into hiding after her impersonation was outed. But Davis left the plotline dangling for Claremont. And outside a cameo in Spider-Man, that was the last we saw of her for ages.

Years later, Paul Cornell teased Sat-Yr-9 having resurfaced as Courtney and Brian confronted her but couldn't prove she was a fake and his Captain Britain book got canceled before he could revisit her. Claremont picked up the character in Uncanny X-Men with her and Viper scheming to take over the US Hellfire Club, but Claremont got banned from continuing the story because Whedon wanted to use the Hellfire Club name in Astonishing for Cassandra's illusion based version of the Club. He briefly brought back the original Courtney in the UXM House of M tie-in story only to die at the end of the story.

He brought Nazi Courtney back again in New Excalibur, establishing that Sat-Yr-9 had given up her evil ways to dedicate herself to the mask of Courtney Ross, banking executive to gaslight people in the event Brian ever made a run at her. Sadly Claremont had his heart attack before he could do anything with her, outside having Shadow King frame her for embezzlement (a charge Nazi Courtney couldn't refute because she had been embezzling in the past to pay for her Amazon brigade in Excalibur).

In the late 00s, Alan Davis did an interview and the subject of Excalibur came up. It's from Davis that we found out that Claremont's endgame was that Kitty was destined to become Saturnyne's replacement in charge of overseeing the multiverse for Roma.

For someone that revitalized the X-Men Chris Claremont had some unbelievably shitty ideas.

The Jean thing does make sense in so far as Claremont's never really forgiven Marvel for wrecking his plans for Scott/Maddie.

And given that Marvel these days desperately wants the excuse to have Logan/Jean happening, I could see Marvel saying "fuck it" and putting Scott/Maddie back together and having Logan end up with a sociopathic "mockery" version of Jean to shut up the Jean/Logan shippers.

Should also note that if this is true, then it also puts a whole new spin on the recent arc with Scott faking his death.

Scott and Maddie get back together, go off to Alaska, and live happily ever after with everyone save the X-Men thinking Scott is dead.

Why do people even care about Maddie?

I never really get the way X-Fans treat her as a wronged woman martyr type. At best she's coomer bait with her slutty costume.

So does Alex just go fuck himself or what

She was created as a replacement for Jean for Scott to marry because Byrne fucked up drawing Jean genociding an entire planet full of squidheads, making it impossible for Chris to keep her alive/bring her back from he dead.

She was the token human in the X-Men and fans took to her and accepted her as a new addition to the X-family.

Then Busiek came along and fucked things up by pitching the "Jean was never Phoenix" imposture idea to Roger Stern, who passed it along Jim Shooter, who used it to greenlight X-Factor.

Scott and Maddie were broken up, just as Maddie gave birth to their son and fans took Maddie's side in the split to Marvel's horror. Adding to this, Claremont double down on writing Maddie as the wronged woman and Scott as the villain and an entire generation of fans took that as gospel, even as Louise Simonson did her best to throw Maddie under the bus during Inferno on orders from Bob Harras; with Harras being the one who ordered Maddie be turned into a villainess clone "thing" to absolve Scott of any douchebaggery and justify Scott and Jean getting back together.

TL;DR Claremont made a likable character that got thrown under the bus because of nostalgia fags/Cyclops apologists and fans took the side of Claremont to this day that Maddie got screwed over.

I would assume Alex and Lorna get back together, since God knows people have been screaming for them to get back together for ages ever since Austen salted the earth on them as a couple.

Was there a reason Marvel didn't just make Maddie=Jean to fix the issue of what to do with Maddie? Or did Shooter not care and forced the issue with no thought of the fall-out because he wanted to teach Claremont a lesson?

My personal opinion is that Maddie should be shot into the sun and Scott should just get back with Emma and stay the fuck away from redheads.

Both.

Claremont was dead set on Maddie being her own person and even pitched to Shooter them using a different female (Jean's sister or Dazzler) in X-Factor.

Also, Shooter was pissy because Claremont had for years blocked Shooter's BFF Bob Layton from doing an original X-Men title and his insistence that no one be allowed to ever touch Scott again after he "retired" the character.

As someone (Nocenti IIRC) said years later, Chris truly forgot he was not the owner of the X-Men characters after over a decade writing them and Shooter was dead set on providing Chris a reality check with the launching of X-Factor.

They probably didn’t wanted Scott and Jean to have a son

Then you should be asking them to have Jean killed, because Maddie isn’t getting involved with Scott anymore.

>editorial realizing they screwed up
This is where you lost me.

Sounds like complete ass so it’s probably semi true

Fake except for Claremont hating everything everyone did after him.

God was Layton's X-Factor horrible though. Weezie's wasn't great but it was miles above Layton's

>Editorial was informed that Disney wants the school status quo back in time for the X-Men movies, so expect it to end next year as part of Sword of X 2.
Now this I don't really get, because the schools are not incompatible with Krakoa and Krakoa or Utpopia or Asteroid M or something of that ilk would be perfect for them revealing that like the Eternals there were always mutants living among them. It's just they separated themselves from the world as the humans hated them. Xavier then erases their existence from humanity's collective minds with Cerebro. Easy peasy.

Then just have something that thrusts them back into the world. Probably Thanos wiping out half of everyone and Magneto + Brotherhood of Evil Gits blaming humanity for not stopping him sooner and the X-Men are formed to oppose them and become the saviors of both humans and mutants, blah blah.

Not like it really matters because if they use Krakoa this way it isn't like it will survive any more than Asgard or any Avengers HQ or SHIELD or Knowhere or Xandar or well you get the idea.

There's something there, but it's rather like the Eternals. Mutants reentering the world at large from hiding because their heroes realize if they hadn't held back then maybe Thanos wouldn't have won in the first place type of shit. Might be too similar.

Nobody wants to read their favorite characters teaching a bunch of annoying shits

bring back Austen next

I'd rather they do this:

OG X-Men were active during the gap between Captain Marvel and Iron Man but not known to the public.

Nick and Carol hide their existence from the public as mutants are rare and not all over the place.

Z'Nox Invasion happens and the X-Men foil it.

X-Men decide to go into retirement.

The first Disney film opens with Cyclops having to form the all-new, all-different team to stop Magneto, who's been recruiting a mutant army and set up Asteroid M as a mutant sanctuary with the plot point being that, for some strange reason, every single mutant on Earth survived the snap and Magneto seeing that as proof that mutantkind truly are the inheritors of the Earth.

Logan is Carol's BFF and former fuckbuddy and put on Scott's team by Fury to watch over them (and allow Logan to also appear in future Avengers films).

Honestly I like vindictive bitch Maddie. She can be a wronged woman and put Alex on a leash. Everybody wins.

>Nobody wants to read their favorite characters teaching a bunch of annoying shits
And yet that's what the movie influence turned the comic X-Men into for years.

fuck krakoa nothing about it makes the x-men redeemable

>orgy with storm cosplayers
BASED AND CHOCOLATE PILLED

hes ((one of us))

Claremont here to shit everything he writes again.

Yeah that sucked
