I see Archie is starting to take over now.

Judging by this cover, I'd say the super-heroes in PEP COMICS should start seriously thinking about their futures.

He was in 1 or 2 cover beforehand, but yeah, around this time you can tell Archie was getting close to taking over.

Behind that smile, the Shield is muttering, "Damn teen-agers..."

How long do the superheroes stick around before this just becomes an Archie comic?

Attached: Pep43_15.jpg (999x1415, 384.83K)

Probably at least until the 50's

Not sure exactly when it was decided not to use "Oriental." Maybe the 1990s? I have some fan magazines from the late 1980s like ORIENTAL CINEMA that were written by guys who had lived in Japan and loved Asian culture.

Bob Fujitani's art looks better and better to me. Check out how those crazy tilted angles change from panel to panel and how overwrought everyone is. Great for melodrama. And the Hangman's cape is just ridiculously long but it looks great.

Need more surreal gags like that hammer, imo.

And YES, Archie you idiot! Go for it. When you'll old and gray, you will regret not shagging Betty until she couldn't walk right.

>When you'll old and gray, you will regret not shagging Betty until she couldn't walk right.
I mean, there is a what if about Archie marrying Betty. And Veronica. And Valerie, the black chick from Josie and the Pussycats, for some reason,

They probably tried every possible angle over the years,

i'm thinking of the MAD parody by Harvey Kurtzman and Will Elder. An older Archie is in prison, banging his head against the wall because of all the times he turned Betty down.

I mean, Archie is 80 fucking years old now, of course they tried everything. Aside from gay shipping of course.

Sooner or later, that'll be tried, too.

It's like the super-heroes running for sixty years or longer, So many pages to fill, month after month. The characters go through every possible experience, more than oncr.

Now would the artist mean by this?

Twenty years later, Sgt Fury's Dum Dum Dugan pulled the exact same unlikely stunt. Stan felt it necessary to explain in a caption that this wasn't a regular wartime event.
