In its current form it's about a Hero (referred to as they/them) going through vaguely the same events Luz is going through. The underlying message is rather banal, talking about fairly obvious things like hard work, resilience and friendship, but the idea is that through doing Practice (the manual labor I'm referring to) one can become just as happy and powerful as the Hero. It's kinda rusty but I'm working on it.
Dana's vision (in my subjective interpretation at least) is a fertile soil for this kind of ideas. I think she could be a cult figure herself and she knows it. She's a lot smarter than it might seem

Nah, I prefer seeing Hunter being soft for a quiet sweet girl, not pestered by an imp. There's something really wholesome about a goals obsessed guy being caused to pause for someone who catches his admiration and respect.
His dynamic with Luz is fun, but she challenges and aggravates him, the attention between them is forced and reluctant. It will grow into friendship, but it always be a bouncy and chaotic kind of relation due to Luz's personality. She'll always be getting under his skin even when they're friends. For a straight laced and neurotic guy like Hunter, I like the idea of him being allowed to relax and open up at his own pace with someone who's gentle and he likes being around.
