Does the new Epic version of Bishop's Crossing have the rest of the Jim Lee X-Men run?
Sadly no. Even though it's 50 bucks, it cuts off with the last two Lee stories uncollected.
Hell, it even omits the second half of Shattershot (only the X-Men/Uncanny parts are collected).
And it makes for even more problems in that they'll not be able to reprint the Xcutioner's Song crossover in full for the next volume due to space issues unless they split it over the next two volumes.
They could get around it by doing a smaller volume for Volume 21. Especially since there are some filler they can put in the volume to make it somewhat bigger.
>>the Nightcrawler/Wolverine team-up story where Kurt FINALLY finds out that the X-Men are alive and reunites with Logan that should have been included in an Excalibur epic
>>The two part X-Men/Excalibur team up from Excalibur
Avengers #350-351 (foreshadowing the return of the Acolytes and Bloodlines)
Maybe toss in an extensive edit of Infinity Wars reprinting the portion of the story that involves the X-Men/Wolverine.
I'm interested to see how these Penguin Marvel collections end up being. Hopefully they're closer to the Taschen ones.
Well I got these. Inuyashiki is a better superhero comic than anything the Big 2 has released in the last 20 years.
Also as someone relatively new to Love & Rockets, I've reached the conclusion that Gilbert > Jaime
Anyone know if we are going to get a Wheeler/Veitch Swamp Thing omnibus anytime soon? It's the only remaining patch of Swamp Thing material yet to be collected.
Who knows. I know Veitch throws a temper tantrum whenever talk about reprinting his run comes up because DC doesn't want to finish/publish his "Jesus was a white magic wizard and the three wise men were actually devil worshippers trying to kill him" story and that seems to be an issue that Veitch won't drop.
And Wheeler's run is widely reviled by ST fans.
I'm just shocked we can't get a proper Hellblazer style comprehensive reprint series based on the 80s Swamp Thing run personally. Or the fact that the Absolutes are OOP and no one wants to actually fucking SCAN the Absolute volumes so people can actually see the recolor job as opposed to people complaining about it without any actual proof it sucks
Veitch's run was reprinted but the trades are long out of print.
A comprehensive reprinting of Swamp Thing isn't happening anytime soon though, since DC spent a huge chunk of money recoloring the Moore run and they just finally put out the Plasko run as part of the Bronze Age series. Unless they do a screwy sort of thing and start a new line beginning with the Veitch run through the Millar run and expect fans to just mix and match the Saga and Bronze Age trades.
>Veitch's run was reprinted but the trades are long out of print.
Not all of it.
I think the lack of actual scans of Absolue Swamp Thing is due to the fact there are a lot of people, in the scanning community in particular, that get super fucking pissy and high and mighty when it comes to shitty on ANY recoloring of classic comics. IE they will explicitly refuse to scan it so people can make their own decisions about said recolors.
See also how impossible it is to find the Walt Simonson Thor recolors and how even the Sandman recolors have started to go bye-bye in favor of only the original comic scans and original first edition comic color trades being available.
Does Japanese manga count?
All comics should count, regardless of country of origin
>it's real
I thought those were joke covers
>Veitch's run was reprinted but the trades are long out of print.
just hunt for 2nd hand, there are a lot on the market. I got it all for less than cover price.
Forgive the weeb shit pls :Catcry:
The least you could do is put your Preachers in the right order dammit
Is it Comic Sans MS?
:PepeLaugh::PepeLaugh:
Bumping to ask you fine folks which Pat Mills book should I buy:
>Nemesis the Warlock
>Charley's War
>The Third World War
>another Slaine book
Requiem Vampire Knight
Invalid answer, literally impossible to buy for a reasonable price anywhere. I gave you the options.
Another slaine book if its pre-brutania chronicles.
I could never get into nemesis despite owning it in the phone books and the 2000ad ultimate collecrion.
Third world War if youre on brutania chronicles.
Pic related is this weeks deliveries.
Slaine it is then. How do you feel about The Book of Invasions?
Theyre not the strongest but they are decent enough reads.
Its been while since ive read them but i do remember thinking they werent as steong as.they books before.
That said, slaine as a whole is good though. Just a shame that mills has ended it early. I hope rebellion dont continue it with another writer.
Anyone reading Super Meshi?
🤖
Latest. Crickets 7 finally came out. I haven't read it yet, but the other issues are incredible so I have high hopes.
I just read Dynamite Diva and was fairly impressed. The stories are all B-movie affair, but Japser is a hell of a drawer. Great book.
>Also as someone relatively new to Love & Rockets, I've reached the conclusion that Gilbert > Jaime
I definitely agree early on. I think Jaime grows into his storytelling style a bit later on. They're both amazing though.
The paperbacks do look pretty shit. I think the hardcovers look fine though.
Picked up this Bubbles toy made in 1999 from a Market Fair, they have a bit more old CN merch down there I plan to buy later.

Been busy with spring cleaning and Elden Ringan, so no new purchases lately. Tho this week I did catch up on Devil's Reign, Dark Age, and ASM Beyond and found all to be disappointments.

Cartoonist Kayfabe and One Piece's new chapters have made me interested in Plastic Man.
Other than weebshit (first 3 Berserk deluxes, all of Vinland Saga, Uzumaki, the latest Nagata Kabi book, most of Yotsuba) the only book I've picked up recently is the monstrously overpriced Hulk thing Folio put out.
Didn't even really want it, but I bought their Gold, Silver and Broze age sets, and the Cap and Spidey books, so I'm locked into buying whatever they put out forever now.
I'd recommend checking out
>Jack Cole
Cole was an amazing cartoonist and doesn't get enough credit for being about as influential as guys like Kirby and Eisner. Original run is all public domain now
>Kyle Baker
Much more toony art style and a heavier focus on meta-humor poking fun at DC, great but different
>Phil Foglio
Only a mini but some fun if simple Plas adventures
Jack Cole is definitely what I'm interested in. Can I just pick up a random archive?
Absolutely, the stories are all pretty self contained. You'll have to watch ebay for the first two volumes, but 3-8 all still have new copies on amazon.
To the list!
>Well I got these. Inuyashiki is a better superhero comic than anything the Big 2 has released in the last 20 years.
lol
the casuals of this board are a joke
It's absolutely true though, Inuyashiki is a genuinely good person who does good things for people for selfless reasons instead of having galas and pansexual orgies
You don't read comics. We get it. Not sure why you're on Yea Forums if you haven't read anything published in the last 20 years though.
I got my whale!
I see you're not acknowledging the point being made and chose to ignore the jab against X-Men. That's okay, the current state of the Big 2 is indefensible, I wouldn't want to be in your shoes either.
>Comics are only attributed to writers
Disgusting.
>I see you're not acknowledging the point being made
But I did, posting a chart that shows around 50 good comics from the last two decades. You do know there are other comics than X-Men right?
>Fantastic Four attributed to Jack Kirby
>Spider-Man attributed to Steve Ditko
But I wouldn't expect a weeb casual to know shit about who those people are
Nice. I could buy Crickets #4 & 5 but I can’t get #6 cheaply. The wait for the tpb is killing me.
Wow, two artists out of how many? You sure showed me.
Vol 2 is still on the Heavy Metal shop, but ya looks like Vol 1 is gone. Then get Sha
My haul from last month, got some pretty good prices on these
There's some 60 titles you listed from the last 20 years, many of which are not Big 2 or superhero books (notice how in each of your posts you also ignore those two aspects and have now multiple times tried to shift the conversation into ALL books published in the past 20 years rather than specifically Big 2 superhero books like I was talking about)
Of the titles you listed some are so obviously inferior (Doctor Doom, Tom King Batman, that Emma Frost series) I can't be sure if you're actually being serious or not.
All-Star Superman, Spider-Man Life Story, Fraction's Hawkeye, Seven Soldiers of Victory and Superior Foes of Spider-Man are the only titles on there that I'd consider to be worthwhile in this discussion (Dark Mirror is not a good story, it's too tryhard and edgy with Gordon's son)
Al Ewing is one of the most overrated hacks in the industry right now. Immortal Hulk was good for spotting references to older, better Hulk runs.
Gillen's Journey into Mystery is throwing me for a loop here, I'm not sure if it even is a superhero story.
All in all you posted a big image with lots of things in it but offered very little to the actual conversation.
So you admit there was good capeshit in the last twenty years. Thanks for your concession, weeb.
Emma Frost isn't a superhero book, so you listing it among the "inferior" ones tells me you haven't actually read the crap you're complaining about. Color me shocked
I never said there wasn't? I just said Inuyashiki is a better superhero story. Which it is.
But you're not looking to have a conversation. Just as soon as you saw I actually could talk about these series you posted in a desperate attempt to overwhelm me, you turn tail and run.
Sad! Many such cases! Next time you make claims, please be ready to back them up.
You got me. I just picked it randomly.
Inuyashiki, a shallow surface level story you forget after it's done with traced 3D models, is better than All-Star Superman, Life Story, Hawkeye and Seven Soldiers? You're a deluded weeb. Go back to And you complain about books you haven't read, too.
If Emma Frost is the hill you want to die on, go ahead I guess.
Is Tom Scioli's biography of Jack Kirby actually good? I'm very resistant to reading it because he keeps shilling it on Cartoonist Kayfabe and those guys always fellate each others' work to uncomfortable levels
Yes. Maybe spend less time on Youtube and more time reading comics
For fans of S Craig Zahler, he has another comic being released this year. This time by Dark Horse. The Forbidden Surgeries of the Hideous Dr. Divinus was really good so I'm excited for his next comic, also his movies and novels are great.
Wow you're really confrontational calm down I didn't insult it or anything go pick on the weeb more
>first day of the month
>already over my comics budget
And I have been for like two weeks prior. My life is pain.
>expect fans to just mix and match the Saga and Bronze Age trades.
This isn't unreasonable at all, considering their Bronze Age line was very defined branding, and Saga has been marketed as Moore's work for years. They totally still won't do it, but not because of something so banal like this.
I'm trying to play it smart and plan six months ahead. Got so many Epic Collections I want to get it's a hassle to fit them in. On one hand I wish Marvel did fewer of them but on the other hand I do want them.
One of the vol. 6s of Conan went out of stock in IST and I ohnonono'd into buying them both on CGN, so that was $160 right there. I'm not missing a volume this far in, goddamn it. And then Fanta dropped their sale, so I had to take advantage. A functional 50% off, and from a publisher themselves no less, is hard to pass up.
A breathed a large sigh of relief after I checked IST's spring sale and it was all crap or stuff I have.
Congrats, user.
Ive been eyeing that creeping death from neptune for ages. How is it?
I found it really dull. Its probably better than most Bond books but I havent found any Bond comics that are any good
Copra and Red Sonja are kino
Gilbert definitely starts out stronger than Jaime.
However, after reading a huge chunk of their comics, Jaime is the greater of the two.
Inuyashiki seems like it's absolutely not worth reading, especially based on prior experience with Hiroya Oku manga.
Which Star Wars comics are worth it? I love Legacy and will be reading The Old Republic soon. How's Empire, Rebellion, New Republic, Rise of the Sith, Clone Wars, and Original Marvel Years? What about the new stuff marvel has put out?
Will be interesting to hear if you’ll have to same opinion later. Like the other user said many/most seem to have Jaime as their fav after the beginning while Beto gets his dues for his side projects like Blubber these days
Roman BTFO
I saw the Spider Gwen omnibus on sale at my LCS, are the stories and characters any good? Or is it just pandering to a perceived market?
Nice shelf user, but im not sure how you can live with having Hellboy, Preacher, and Sandman split across multiple cubbies like that.
I read the first two trades and could not tell you a single thing that happens in them. Totally deleted itself from my memory.
no offense user but what a awful pic to start shelf with
thanks user for posting the pasta
always happy when someone finally catches there whale congrats user
also left for a month order some books from ist still not ship sooooooooooo fucking me i guess. still thought happy to be back and be able to read my funny American books again.
unless your a huge spiderman fan i wouldnt get it i try a couple of time to get into it but its just like drinking water just bland and forgettable. theirs better stuff out there if your looking to spend that type of cash......then again this is coming from a DC fan so take my review with a grain of salt
Are there any compiled volumes of She Hulk that's good/has good art/covers?
and recent pick up that arrive a day or so ago 2 portfolio books and hack and slash vol 2
your in luck user april 19th her omni is coming out and her peter david omni is great aswell.
basado gets user you in Italy? because i might need your help in hunting some of those manara books
Does marvel not print their epic collection in order? I'm looking for an avengers epic collection 19 and as far as I can tell it doesn't exist despite there being a vol 18 and 20+
Yeah, I bet they are hard to come by now. I've been buying them since issue 3, so I've never had an issue. I did manage to get issue 1 for like 4 bucks recently though. Lucky
I've only started actually reading it recently, but it's pretty amazing so far. Wolverton is such a singular artist. Really great reproductions of the artwork too. The color pages look especially good.
I need to grab the other volume soon just in case it goes out of print.
They print popular stories first and then if the line itself is popular they come back to fill in the gaps
>They print popular stories first and then if the line itself is popular they come back to fill in the gaps.
Strange caused 19 will have the Bryne issues of Avengers. You'd think this e would be pretty popular
Nope and it's a major point of frustration for many people. Eventually they'll get everything in epic format so I don't really care. I'm just waiting for the rest of Stern's Avengers to come out in epics.
What does that Folio Hulk collect?
checkem user nice shelf but man idk why it triggers my ocd that your preacher absolutes are separate great shelf over all though
latest acquisitions. price of that box is driving tears to my eyes but what can you do
what artbook is that?
meant for so what artbook is that?
Damn, that's beautiful. I finally ordered a copy during Fanta's sale, and I'm glad I did.
Boring.
art book/posters that dc is publishing great stuff for 12 bucks you get so many posters or 24 in amazon if IST is out of them
woops wrong pic
I got pic related last week.
Thanks, being split like that is a bit annoying, but the alternatives are either moving things out of order or leaving big gaps in the cubes, both of which are even more ocd-triggering to me 😱
Evening, Yea Forums. I got some pickups over the last few weeks. It's all fun stuff, if scattered.
heres the link if you want to see all publish portfolios currently out

Sandman is a slow burn, but it's also one of the most well loved and influential non-capeshit comics ever made. It's definitely worth reading in its entirety.
very comfy picture user what fantastic 4 omni is that?
Based horror chad. What's your favorite hellblazer story?
Not that user but it's Hickman FF Omnibus 1
>you in Italy?
Nah, I'm Brazilian sorry user
How's the BUNDA been this winter?
🤤
hard to say which one but the one to this day that stick with me is were he fucks over his friend charlie and leaves his soul stuck in the internet. being a little kid reading that just made me feel ill and it made a impression on me. the prison story is great aswell
nothing to be sorry about user especially with those women you guys have.
oh yeah that nerd gets wrecked. I seem to recall he comes back as a demon later.
Gonna win the world cup this year you think?
or another 7-1
TFW
This actually has everything all the way up to the Stern omni.
Epic collections are printed out of order because they were created to replace the Essential line so they didn't want fans miffed about having to start all over again plus the fact that by doing stuff out of order, they could also fill in gaps with existing omnibuses and trades/HCs that would allow fans who might not want to buy the Epic line, at the very least, buy volumes here or there to fill in gaps in their collections that normally would not get trades.
As for Avengers, NO ONE gives a fuck about Byrne's late 80s/early 90s main Avengers title run. He didn't draw it, just wrote it and most of the attention from that period was on West Coast Avengers (which he wrote and drew) and the dumpster fire that was in that book.
That said, Marvel will get to it eventually I bet. Though since they just released the WCA Epic with Acts of Vengeance in it, it may be a bit.
I see a copy for $6.25 online. You all are garbage.
Is it true that they're printing Astro City hardcovers later. I just saw the new collected book at My LCS but I passed on it cause I want hardcovers
Busiek on twitter said he hopes for hardcovers but it depends on how well these sell. And I believe he also said it wouldnt be until after the whole thing is collected in paperback.
I'm still shocked that legit all (except for a different-format OGN) of OG Hellblazer and related minis has been collected
>Image's refusal to do omnibuses strikes again
Omnibuses are a huge gamble and for a smaller company like Image it's not worth it unless it's an extremely proven seller.
And reprinting Astro City is already a gamble because the sales data that Busiek would have from the last Vertigo run would show not-massive interest in singles or trades. Hell, by the end DC was printing HC's only because the softcovers were not "profitable".
If you want physical editions of Jack Cole Plastic Man what you want are "Gwandanaland Comics". They reprint entire golden age runs in big fat collections available in full color or black and white. They are VASTLY more worth it than any of DC's overpriced reprint efforts. Just make sure you get the ones that are just Plastic Man stories and not all of Police Comics since the PC ones also include a bunch of other strips.
>Walt Disney's Tales of Brer Rabbit Sunday Adventures 1945-1948
>Cancelled because Disney now being ultra strict with what licensees can publish
For fucks sake.
In my experience Gwandanaland Comics don't have the best quality. I don't know if their Plastic Man collections are better.
is there any chance in hell that Hitman gets some sort of nice hardcover collected edition? If not, I was thinking of getting the trades and making a 2-3 custom hardcovers.
👍
Nice. I've been hunting for it myself.
Heavy Marvel fans don't realize how good they have it with Disney not paying attention to what they publish
The only chance would be if James Gunn wants to make a TV show. But even then chances are low because the only Peacemaker-adjacent reprint was Giffen's Suicide Squad (for Waller's daughter) when they could have made a small trade of Peacemaker's miniseries or better Vigilante collections.
Am I based or cringe ?
yeah one thing is taking a gamble with batman or spidy another is with a minor know IP like astro. then again it seems like covid was a huge benefit to collected edition market were apparently there was a big influx on new collectors
Oh shit, these are starting? Nice.
They're cheap enough with the typical discount that I'd totally be willing to swap them later if hardcovers come.
They're 500 pages. They may be softcover, but at least we're getting somewhere.
I got curious since I saw Dark Horse had solicited some new BPRD omnis - I was thinking they'd either finally be doing hardcover reprints or maybe they're new compilations with some different material or something. Judging from the contents and physical dimensions, they're literally just 1:1 reprints of the Plague of Frogs trades with different cover art.
What even is the point of them?
its DC man i wouldnt hold my breath but theres a small chance if hbo decided to make a show about the boys
cringe because its to messy also get a hard plastic covers for those issues user
They probably want to rebrand them, because if you're some newfag standing around in a book store you're going to get confused looking at the different first volumes.
to make everyone who missed the hc seeth when they reprint them with new covers but in tpb only
Oh, and
B.P.R.D. library editions WHEN
Sorry dweebs, no Yea Forums material of late, only Yea Forums.
Hey also, did anyone manage to snag one of those JLA/Avengers books a couple weeks ago? I had a look on eBay and unsurprisingly it's already full of scalped copies
I think is on the money, they probably figured internally that "BRPD omnibus Vol. 1 - 12" or whatever is less offputting to potential new buyers than Plague of Frogs 1-4, Hell on Earth 1-5, 19XX-19YY so on and so on.
supremeley based list
a comic cant be good without a good writer, a comic can be good without a good artist. (EX peter bagge)
Japananon. Used book fair in Kanda, and I picked up these for ~$1 each.
Near complete set of Orion, Chronos and Claremont's Fantastic Four run (missing a few minor keys though, like FF 11 and 27). It'll probably cost me an annoying amount to fill in these collections, but it was fun just finding comics for so cheap here.
>a comic cant be good without a good writer, a comic can be good without a good artist.
I couldn't disagree with this more, but you're calling someone super stylized like Bagge "bad," so we have very different understandings of what that means for this medium.
>JLA/Avengers books
i was out of the fucking country when it came out but from my buddy who goes to the same lcs it only got 2 and the owner kept one and resold the other on ebay reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
never
thats the same reason i like going to flea markets and finding kino stuff
Gwandanaland just collects the available public domain scans in whatever quality they may be. A lot of yellow pages with tears and stains. The DC Archives aren't perfect, but at least they're fully legible.
Still waiting on Star Wars Old Republic omni and Conan Vol 6 omni
I went to pick this up at IST and it was actually on sale for 50% off. I kinda feel like I can let the Conan omnis ride until they go on sale now. They don’t vanish overnight now. I need to pick up the seventh CtB omni.
too lazy to get pics but i got the 3 and 4 Fist of the North Star hardcovers and the 2nd Zdarsky Daredevil HC
good lord user give your wallet a rest still all great purchases. i really need to pick up the flistones and madman vol 2 while they are cheap
thats a risky game your playing user best keep a eye on it thats how i lost marvel zombies and luther strobes HC.
Is madman worth checking out? Never heard of it before and it looks cool.
its a fun light-hearted series check it out before you buy the library edition idk why OP or the person who posted the pasta didnt put the updated version
readcomiconline.li
New
I really dig it.
It's definitely worth checking out. Mike Allred is one of the best artist in comics in the lasting 30 years

MAN I forgot how cheap instocktrades can be
would've cost me over 200 bucks on Amazon
Is House of Mystery and Grayson any good?
Byrne's run was reprinted a couple of years back and was recently released as an omnibus.
Slott had a run too with decent cover art but IIRC is out of print.
house of mystery was so-so anthology stories with usually very good art.
One problem with doing a Waid omnibus is that Waid fucked off for a year and Morrison/Millar filled in but kept all of Waid's storylines going. So any volume 2 is going to have a huge fucking gap in it.
Grayson sucks (it's Dick as a spy following Forever Evil).
House of Mystery is hit or miss like most Silver Age DC anthology books and Volume 3 will be the post salad days (meaning no big name artists slumming). BUT House of Mystery has some decent art even with lesser known folk and each issue has about 3-4 stories, so law of averages usually works out for you in the end.
Fist of North Star any good?
Only for historical context.
It was the very first action manga about fighting that hit it big in Japan, along with shamelessly ripping off Road Warrior in aesthetics back when it was still fresh and exciting and not done to death.
So if you've read a lot of action manga, it will seem a bit old fashion and the violence super tame and the Road Warrior/post apocalyptic stuff been done to death and better by others.
Adding to this, is that the writing is mostly episodic and features a major original sin: the main arc you think will drive the series (rescuing the girlfriend) is resolved in the first four-five chapters and in utterly anticlimatic fashion (she killed herself shortly after being kidnapped).
So after a bunch of episodic stuff, the writer ass-pulled a new big bad who somehow was the "real mastermind" behind the kidnapping. Then when it's resolved, there is more wandering and nothing happening (to the point that the anime never adapted the last 3-4 volumes due to it being filler).
You guys know who I am! Here's a new picture of my shelf that I just took!

Recent purchases from around the end of last month
Is Wheeler the one where nobody knows who he actually was? I remember reading a Cronin column about some postVeitch preCollins Swampy writer, where no one seems sure of who the guy was or if it was a pseudo.
Oh shit, the Dai manga's actually out. I thought it was another month or two off.
How's the translation compared to the fan one that's been floating around for years?
have the Lobdell/Nicieza run of X-men been collected in any meaningful way. You always see people talk about claremont or lee omnis and collections but a bulk of what I grew up reading was theirs.
Not familiar with the fan translation, but the official one is good!
The Twelve has/had an omni, Onslaught's well collected. X-Cutioner's, Phalanx, etc. have had collections. Think it's mostly the in between shit and Gen X that's not easily accessible.
i'd rather they do a WML omni instead.
this house of mystery stuff was firmly bronze age
Yes. Cronin contacted him after someone from Yea Forums asked about it last year. He did exist, but his actual job was in IT and he did writing on the side.
His Swampy became increasingly incomprehensible as it went on, but part of it is on the art. The end of Veitch would have to be collected with some of his stuff since Wheeler had to write the conclusion.
pretty sure Gen X is getting an omni fairly soon. Hell, Claremont X-Treme X-Men is getting an omni, Marvel is going wild on X-Men omni's lately.
Yeah I think so too, there's very fewer and fewer people who keep up with the Conan omnis and a lot of new collectors can't jump in because the first few omnis are oop. So it should be pretty safe to wait for sales on the new volumes.
:Stonks:
Volume two of Books of Magic finishes the ongoing series, so what is collected in the volume three they announced? And is that material good?
>Young Justice Book Six
I don't understand how this announcement hasn't created more hype. Finally DC finishes a Peter David run, even after more than a year since book five!
DC can announce whatever it wants, I'll be hyped once the book is actually available instead of another cancel.
> i'd rather they do a WML omni instead
They’re somewhat easy to get in the U.S. but not abroad.
I bought the second volume Brain Bats on sale from my lcs. Looks pretty neat.
I managed to get the Akira box for basically the cover price a year or two ago from alibris. You’d think they’d do a 40th anniversary edition soon.
Don’t the creators decide if they want to reprint? Image’s crew would just give them the past sales and sales predictions.
They also reprinted the Usagi Yojimbo Saga collections with new covers probably just to differentiate the print runs for some reason.
Sleeper omnibus finally getting reprinted. Hopefully it’s done as well as the first one since it’s the best DC omnibus binding and etc. wise.
I thought about getting the Kamandi omnibus but two tpbs would be better.
Thump
>It was the very first action manga about fighting that hit it big in Japan
This is ridiculously, stupidly wrong. Don't spout bullshit when you don't know what you're talking about, it's embarrassing for everybody.
That being said you're totally right about the episodic nature of FotNS and how lame that makes most of it.
list price of that Akira box seems to have been $199?
I got it for 153,41€ in 2020 across the ocean
It's now 138,10€ at my local online book store...
138 now? sheeeit, I paid 152 on amazon. only realistic choice for me to get it
>Inuyashiki
It really feels like the result of the creator spending a year on 2chan with them reminding him that Gantz sucked every day.
He's also incredibly butthurt about One Piece, which makes sense. Everyone is butthurt about One Piece.
Right now those are the same when converted

>can't buy a shelf because IKEA is gone
>can't dispatch the books I've already bought from a warehouse in US - there's no way to pay for a mail forwarding service so $880 haul is stuck there
gee thanks mr. president for invading another country and starting a pointless war in 2022, you fucking retard
check out my so called shelf
some omnis, some deluxes
39 absolutes (most of them are boxed and buried deep inside the wardrobe)
It's time for a revolution, bro.
Thanks Anons, the BUNDA has been exquisite this year, hopefully i'll get some for myself soon
This year it'll be 7-2
>Volume two of Books of Magic finishes the ongoing series, so what is collected in the volume three they announced? And is that material good?
as someone on plebbit noted:
Hunter: The Age of Magic #1-25
The Names of Magic #1-5
Books of Magic: Life During Wartime #1-15
Feels batman -.-
Btw, does your country have any noteworthy original comics? I don't see any of them in western europe but I'm honestly curious.
Which is pretty bad content, but would wrap up all of original tim's work.
>no ikea so cant buy shelves.
Beats
>no money cant buy shelves/books
My landlord jumped my rent up 100 quid knowing fine well im fucked because its still cheaper than the market value. Im not mad at him he gave me 3 months notice.
That 100 quid was my 'entertainment' budget.
Pic is my shelf*
*my game boxes are behind the comics so cant double up as no place to put them (all my games are in paper cd cases in the bedside table drawers)
That said j am sorry to hear about your situation and hope it comes to an end soon and i think the restrictions and conpanies pulling out is counter productive (and a western op to destabalise your country leaving it open to western colonisation, more so than already has happened, but ill leave that next to my tin foil hat).
My LCS has it for 120 but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger cause its my comic budget for the month but I feel like I will regret it later if I don't
There's a lot of good comic in Akira
Really enjoyed X-Men Grand Design in those large treasury soft covers. Kept meaning to read Fantastic Four Grand Design but heard it wasn't as good, anyone read it? Been watching Cartoonist Kayfabe a lot and Hulk Grand Design was very hyped but just read the first issue and it isn't as solid as X-Men Grand Design.
Based and truthpilled.
>Btw, does your country have any noteworthy original comics?
Honestly, I don't know, never cared for Russian comic books.
Made me think of worker and parasite from the Simpson
So other than the Horned God, what's the best Slaine book?
>Kept meaning to read Fantastic Four Grand Design but heard it wasn't as good, anyone read it?
I've read it. It was pretty good but don't go in expecting exactly the same experience as X-Men GD. It's like a hypercompression that also tells a story with an ending and fits in a lot of the largest elements of the cosmic mythos, if only in a few panels at a time. Read it online first. I do enjoy it a lot
sorry to hear that user i have senpai in russia myself but they are retards that believe in the putin meme. heres hoping things get back to normal also great collection cant imagine how much you had to spend to get them there.
thats the only thing i get jealous of you bogs its those beautiful hc 2000ad collections, i want them reeeeeeeeeeeee.
That's some mighty nice elf ass you got there.
Shelves.
there is lots to like in there
You probably could order from Artyom Trakhanov domestically if you’re willing and interested
There are some creators and Bubble comics and the like
which line of 2000AD comics are those in the bottom shelf and in the shelf just above?
its a great coomer book and its build is really great.......... i just want the first volume though its been OOP for a while
man those kirby absolutes are so nice looking wish i didnt pick up the omni but im not double dipping.........yet. also why black out the bottom right books user? is it something naughty
>is it something naughty
kek no just dvds i haven't managed to shift despite pricing em low as shit on [2nd hand sales store]. i regret buying as many when I was younger. comics otoh...
Judge Dredd: The Mega Collection
its exclusive to UK user and way OOP there is a psychopath user on here that bought them as they were coming out but it eneded up costing him 2x what they were worth
ah okay, thank you
Honestly, I think the first collection (warriors dawn) is my favourite. Although i know horned god is best for art. (Although i like mcmahon's chicken scratch)
Honeatly, ive spent too much on the 2000ad (and dredd considering most is reprinted in the case files) but i just want the set even though 1/4 is literal trash, 1/4 stuff i wanted in hc and the othwr half is stuff i thought was okay but id never have bought outside this collection.
You're a very honest man.
The first shelf is Judge dredd mega collection. Its 90 books of dredd verse material. Each book was 10 quid a pop.
The second is the 2000ad ultimate collection, similar to above, its still running and has been extended to 140 books.
The judge dredd stuff is hard to get and the early 2000ad ultimate collection stuff is kinda hard to get. Especially the strontium dog, nemesis, nikolai dante ones. If youre in the uk ebay and guntree and facebook.
Guy in one of my facebook groups sold his lot for 30 quid. He just needed rid of them. Glad it was another 2000ad guy who got them.
So why won't they make reprints?
£30
My god how horrifying
The guy spent 900 quid (assuming he paid subscription price) and saw a -870 return) i genuinely hope everything is okay in his life because i honestly worry when i see desperate deals like this.
Recent buys, too lazy for pics
>Berserk DLX vol 10
>Slayers LN vol 1
>Codename Sailor V Eternal vol 2
And the important one
>Ostrander's Spectre #1, with the Glow In The Dark cover
>I roved out in Search of Truth and Love
>OUT OF PRINT! Not being restocked, please don’t ask me about it!
>tfw waiting ostrander to die so i can get my spectre omnis
Its a sad state, but its the only way well get them.
Id even take compendiums.
How do you guys justify spending so much on comics?
Spreading it out and finding the best deals.
Every time.
fuck off man, you ask this every thread
kek gave me a good chuckle
at first their twitter and page had that they would do another reprint eventually but now they said they dont see the demand for it so wont.
its a hobby much like mountain biking and camping its something you do to release stress and im also not a neet so i have disposable income for it.
I hate this
>batman 50
>they said they dont see the demand for it
They might be able to if they PULLED THEIR HEAD OUT OF THEIR OWN ASS.
Jealous of the planet hulk omni, praying for a reprint
Does this fill the gap between amazing spidey 5 omni and sterns omni?
Nope. It's the Spectacular Spider-Man series. Roger Stern's Omni had his Spectacular issues as well as the main series. There is still a gap of Amazing Spider-Man issues
>disposable income
>my oher hobbies are nature trails (and trails off the beaten tracks), hill/small mountain climbing and urban exploring. All of ehich are relatively cheap one you have the gear.
Value is relative to the ammount of money you have. I'm by no means rich but I earn enough for the price of comics to not need any special justification. I want it so I buy it.
Yes and no. It's been collected, but the bulk of the material (in particular the pre-Age of Apocalypse stuff) is only available in a comprehensive format via omnibus and a lot of those are OOP.
Reading order is:
X-Men by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee (X-Men #1-11, Ghost Rider X-Over)
Bishop's Crossing (UXM #281-293, X-Men #12-13; note that the various softcovers omit X-Men #12-13 and the current Epic collection omits those two issues plus #289-293 though they restore the 1992 X-Men and UXM Annuals to their rightful reading order place)
Xctutioner's Song (UXM 294-297 and X-Men 14-16)
X-Men Shattershot (reprints the Shattershot 1992 X-Men Annual Xover out of sequence plus the OOP X-Men trade Skinner of Souls, which contains X-Men #17-24 and Annual #2)
Fatal Attraction (omnibus only version, UXM #298-305, 314 plus X-Men #25 and X-Men Unlimite #1-2 as the softcover omits stuff)
Wedding of Cyclops and Phoenix (expanded version of the WoC&P trade; Uncanny X-Men #307-311 and 1993 Annual, X-Men #26-35, X-Men Unlimited #3 and Annual #3 and Bloodlines X-Over)
Phalanx Covenant (Phalanx story in UXM #306, 311-313, 315-317, X-Men #36-37, plux PC crossover issues)
Legion Quest (UXM #318-321, X-Men #38-41, X-Men Unlimited #4-6
Nope:
>Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man Omnibus
>Collects: Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man (1976) #1—42, Annual (1979) #1; Amazing Spider-Man Annual (1964) #13; Fantastic Four (1961) #218
Roger Stern's omni collects Spectacular Spider-Man (1976) #43—61 (as well as Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #203, 224—252, Annual (1964) #16—17; material from Amazing Spider-Man Annual #15, Spectacular Spider-Man Annual #3, Web of Spider-Man Annual #3 and What If? #34).
Amazing Spider-Man vol.5 ends at 180 and Stern's has #203, 224—252. Feasibly as this is 40+ issues I could see them splitting this into two omnis, but who knows.
Based /out/
After AOA you will be able to find stuff in softcover with a few exceptions:
Road to Onslaught V1-3 collect UXM #322-333 and X-Men #42-54 and other tie-ins
Fabian's last X-Men story is X-Men #45 which is in the first Road to Onslaught.
Onslaught omnibus or individual trades (UXM #334-337 and X-Men #55-57)
X-Men Onslaught Aftermath (X-Men 58-64, UXM #338-340)
X-Men Trial of Gambit (UXM #340-350)
X-Men Operation Zero Tolerance (X-Men #65-70)
This takes you all the way to Lobdell's swan song on the franchise
The first issue is a decent recap/retelling of the first 47 issues of the original Fantastic Four. the second issue however fucks up mightily and does a super blotched retelling of everything through the Trial of Reed Richards story with MAJOR omissions and fudging of details along the way and Scioli explicitly making it known that he hates Byrne and the fact that Byrne had Reed save Galactus's life given the fact that Galactus kept committing genocide after being saved since, in Scioli's version, Reed murders Galactus in cold blood and survives via a bullshit "I am Spartacus" moment when Eternity and the other cosmic beings come calling for vengeance.
/out/side is a great place, cant be reading comics inside all day, your dad raised you better than that.
Tell myself and my family that at least I'm not buying drugs or chasing loose men on the internet.
Fanta are releasing a 400 bucks boxset of the first 50 issues this October
Thats such a pain in the ass why dont they just do it already christ, I need me more spidey
What is this list? Is it your personal choices, or does it come from a poll?
>400 bucks
wew lads thats even to rich for my blood
im thinking its a personal
>400 bucks
What.
Just picked up a set of Man of Steel hardcovers now that volume 4 has released and the collection is complete. What the fuck was DC thinking with this spine design? Why is only volume 1 a different colour? Either have them all different or all the same. I know it’s not really that big a deal but I just can’t imagine what made them okay this. Just seems like an objectively bad choice.
>400
Im okay, i can live with my scans
I was hoping 4 would be blue and would at least make a good book end.
>exiles
Plan to pick up this omni next.
It bugs me too. Having 1 and 4 be blue, or having 1 and 3 be blue would look fine imo, just 1 on its own doesn't make sense.
Well, it's a bigass boxset. Averages to about 50 bucks per book, and it's Fantagraphics, not Marvel or DC. If it's the same as the Eightball boxset, they'll be perfect facsimiles, with the original paper stock etc. Not that I'll be buying it, and yes it's expensive, but it's kinda justified
btw, why make perfect facsimiles then bind them all together in a hardcover book? Defeats the purpose of the whole thing. I hate that about the Eightball box
>DC
>thinking
It was originally going to be an omnibus until DC decided to jew people out with those hardcovers. And I bet you they will eventually do an omnibus anyway.
I know it is a boxset and will probably be great facsimiles, but 400?
$1.29
>jew with the hc
Not the original poster but
I paid between 15-20 for each.
Thats at most 80 quid. Which is what a standard dc omni would set me back. And i prefer smaller page count hc so its win win.
It's more similar to the Complete Zap collection. The Eightball Omnibus was still affordable, though I guess they'd be the same price per issue/page
>It's more similar to the Complete Zap collection
not really, that shit was super extra - big as fuck, came with extra art prints and stuff. This L&R book is the same as Eightball - just 50 issues instead of 18
>And I bet you they will eventually do an omnibus anyway.
There's no omni because they don't have the budget to properly restore the issues. These HC's were made with old restoration jobs circa 2003.
>implying DC decisions make any sense
>I bet you they will eventually do an omnibus anyway
Same, not prepared to wait that long though, and there's always a chance they won't and the hardcovers will go out of print someday so FOMO kicks in.
stuff like this makes me think its done of purpose much like the monk box set. it would have been perfect if they had change the DC logo half way through
What's the best babby's first manga? I'd rather ask here because you guys are better than Yea Forums.
I think mostly because number 1s tend to sell more anyway so they have them stand out but don't care about collection continuity of books on a shelf.
Akira like the other posted if you're looking into genre/action/adventure stuff. Junji Ito for short horror. For graphic novel like manga look into manga published by Drawn & Quarterly, NYRC, Fantagraphics and etc.
depends whats your taste comedy, horror, slice of life,, etc personally my fav is berserk those darkhorse leather bond books look soo fucking great on your self and binding is pretty good aswell
>You probably could order from Artyom Trakhanov domestically if you’re willing and interested
tell me more
Dragon Ball is a good pick.
This was my first and I loved it
Thanks, I'll check them out
Bot left is my collection of Bande dessinée (Gonna list the ones that are in german):
First Quest for the time circle (1 to 4)
Blueberry, everything onwards from the Confederate Gold circle(13 to 22, missing 17)
All of Simon of the River (1 to 9)
Berserk
Vagabond
Fullmetal Alchemist
Vinland Saga (Gets much worse according to most people after volume 14)
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Akira
Dragon Ball
Monster
Blade of the Immortal
Azumanga Daioh
>looking for spider-man 2099 classic
>each volume is now fifty fucking dollars
pain
They are printing an omni of it later this year.
>Spider-Man 2099 (1992) #1—46, Annual #1; Ravage 2099 #15; X-Men 2099 #5; Doom 2099 #14; Punisher 2099 #13; Spider-Man 2099 Meets Spider-Man; Spider-Man 2099 Special
>October 2022
Is DC going to release the rest of the New Teen Titans?
I know they canceled a final omnibus (V6, which would have collected Teen Titans Spotlight and all of the major 80s guest appearances of the Titans plus Games). But will we ever get New Titans #50-130 and the rest of the Annuals collected?
Wait really? I have the entire run somewhere in my attic might be time to go hunting
The only thing in their leaked catalog was a reprint of vol 1 again. If that sells out, they might restart with New Titans
I started with Junji Ito and Shintaro Kago, then I read Akira, Berserk, Onani Master Kurosawa, Vagabond, and Pluto.
I picked up battle shonen a little after that, and it didn't stick.
That was a long time ago. Now, I'm kind of tired of manga.
:longcat:
:longcata:
:longcata:
>Shintaro Kago
If Kago was my introduction to Manga I don't know if I would have ever read another manga book again out of fear for my sanity
Bunda bump
I might be retarded
because printing is a high risk low benefit for a webcomic run by a single person. I'm amazed they made as well made book as they did, but with printing prices skyrocketting, I understand not wanting to dump that much money into something that high risk.
by reading them
honestly to god, it was this, and I kinda love it.
Why buy comics when you can read them all and store them for free
Anyone have this? Is it any good? I've been on a bit of a glam kick after watching the Jobriath documentary a few weeks ago, so I got wondering after I saw this in my recommended list.
Try some classic Tezuka.
Because it's a gentlemans hobby
if you are into JRPG/dungeon stuff check out "Delicious in Dungeon"
>Delicious in Dungeon
This title translation is keeping me from ever picking it up.
and cooking
I could have jumped on this book a year back but I didn't so congrats user. Maybe one day we can see it the story time on /aco
New fishings for Epic Collections
Silver Surfer: Return of Thanos (Silver Surfer #25-38 and Silver Surfer The Enslavers Graphic Novel)
X-Men: Xcutioner's Song (Uncanny X-Men 289-296, X-Men 10-16, X-Factor 84-86, X-Force 16-18)
(Note: we are skipping the epilogue issue, Uncanny X-Men #297 and X-Force #19 and Stryfe's Strike Files which is kind of lame). Also cover is going to be the last Jim Lee cover from his run, X-Men #11)
Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The New Republic Vol. 6
(Note: Crimson Empire trilogy, for those who don't have the original trades or the hardcover omnibus Dark Horse put out)
X-Force: Armageddon Now (X-Force 85-100, X-Force/Champions Annual 1998, X-Force Annual 1999)
(Note: 99% of the second half of the John Francis Moore run. Sadly they are skipping Moore's actual last issue (#101, which is also the last issue before the Counter X retool that will dominate the last batch of issues of the series before the Milligan/Allred revamp) and New Mutants Truth or Dare; the later of which sadly looks as though it's going to be exclusive to the Excalibur Epic line unfortunately)
Amazing Spider-Man: Invasion of the Spider-Slayers (Amazing Spider-Man 368-377 and Annual 27, Spider-Man/Dr. Strange: The Way to Dusty Death 1, Spider-Man Special Edition: The Trial of Venom)
(Note: A horrible bit of fuckery as no Spectacular Spider-Man #198-200, as at the very least, Harry's Death really needs to be included in the main series given how much shit happens down the line with his death)
Deadpool: Mission Improbable (Deadpool #1-9, -1, and the rest of the pre-ongoing series Deadpool appearances)
Hulk: Fall of the Pantheon (Hulk #420-435)
Hulk: And Now... Wolverine (Hulk #179-203)
Defenders Day of the Defenders (Defenders #1-11, Avengers #115-118, and pre-series appearances by the Defenders)
Iron Man: Return of Tony Stark (Iron Man 290-297 plus Iron Man stories from the early 90s Marvel Super Heroes anthology).
Moon Knight: Butcher's Moon (content unknown but seems to include the 1985 mini at the least)
Thor: Blood and Thunder (Thor 468-475 plus Blood and Thunder tie-ins)
(Note: if you bought the Blood and Thunder trade, you are kind of fucked in that the Epic version has about 4 additional issues that are exclusive to the Epic; so you'll need to double dip)
Venom: Carnage Unleashed (content unknown)
>shows Dreamcast games and no Spawn.
C'mon user
based
is that supposed to be dungeon meshi?
Its great. Allred adores Bowie and he captures the large swaths of his career beautifully
yes
Good, a bunch of perfectly mapped titles. Were there any reprints fished?
How do you like Simon - Zeuge der Zukunft? I read the first two and wasn't blown away, tbqh. Does it change/improve in later issues?
I really loved it but I'm also a huge Bowie and an amazing even bigger Mike Allred fan
Did anyone get JLA/Avengers and didn't flip it? How are you displaying it? Doesn't feel right to just put it in with a mix of other books, but it doesn't really seem like a display piece eitehr.
Anons please talk me out of this i shouldnt but its so beautiful
amazon.com
Got a bunch of DC cheesecake books, the last Superman Rebirth deluxe, Wizards of Mickey and Victor & Hugo just something I randomly started collecting a few years ago when I saw some in an op shop books I needed.
>that Birds of Prey Gred Land covver
Let me know if the supergirl is good. I have only had misfortune reading vol3
that's book 3 of vol 5 though
it double hurts because he was good on interiors for that book, but left and came back for crappy covers
Sales alert boys over at IST
that framed cover/pages user around? got anything new?
Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Dragon Ball, Fist of the North Star
Battle Angel Alita if you are into science fiction/fighting
Ranma 1/2 if you are into comedic martial arts adventures
Detective Conan, Full Metal Alchemist, One Piece, Nausicaa, Sailor Moon
black lagoon
>They are printing an omni of it later this year.
>$125
Now I'm thinking about what in my collection I could sell in order to afford it.
it's in a stack of trades I recently bought the last two months I haven't read.
I bought it 100% as an impulse buy even though I have the original mini.
Bump
>Ghost in the Shell
Shirow can't write for shit.
>Ed Benes art
>Gred Land Cover
the fuck where they thinking???
Most recent pick ups.
Benes only did a few covers. Unfortunately, Land covers are associated with Simone's run
Recently sold a lot of books because I just didn't care about them anymore. So made a little room for new shit. 1/2
2/2 Got some Image stuff here and my tiny Manga collection
This. Ghost in the Shell is only relevant as an anime.
I mean, i really enjoyes dominio (tank police) but yeah, GiTS is better off animated. I never got past the 3rd appleseed book.
I think volume 3 is the highlight of the first cycle but if you don't like the outlook auclair has on life (the entire noble savages against technophiles) then I don't think you will like the rest of the first cycle either.
Starting with volume 6 (In volume 5 auclair finishes the first arc i.e. the conflict between hunter and gathers and citywellers) the comic isn't written by auclair anymore and a new cycle about Celtic mysticism starts. The comic is pretty episodic afterwards and I would tell you to maybe just check out each volume and read the first pages to see if you like it (except for 8 and 9 since characters introduced in 8 are important for the story of 9).
Where's goodwill hentai user at nowadays, I hope he's doing well
Goodwill hentai? This sounds like a story.
guy saw a bunch of hentai on sale in local goodwill and bought it and showed his /shelf/bros
See
legend
Why not do another Kickstarter? They've done then before.
I've just read Uzumaki and loved it, I'm thinking of getting Gyo and Tomie next, how do they compare?
IST spring sale lads
what are you going to get?
instocktrades.com
How much /shelf/core do you have?
This much so far. I have to be honest I've never even heard of any of those Evan Dorkin and Chris Ware books, are they any good?
I prefer Hellstar Remina. Gyo is difficult to take seriously because memes ruined it for me.
I'll get Bone next
Totally need more Miller too
Chris Ware is one of the more interesting creators in comics, I recommend him.
First half of gyo is goos, then like typical junji ito it falls apart the second half. It goes from a solid 4 to a 2 in the space between part 1 and part 2.
Tomie is okay, but very repetitive if youre reading all the stories in one sitting.
Congrats user
I love the story and are in the Red Sonja.
Welcome back user. Glad you made it home safe.
Nice dubs and nice shelf.
Thank you, user. I guess I will give number 6 a try.
fuck yeah on those creepys bro
maybe it's best he moved to porn then, cause his porn is great!
plus is for having a fair amount of their other works, the box is having all that and A LOT of other Jodorworsky.
I plan on selling my Jimmy Corrigan whenever I get the energy to finish the second half.
>Currently reading
The Eltingville club by Dorkin
>Recent purchases
Nothing. I'm broke right now but I do have my eye on a couple of books coming out.
So is Eltingville good?
I dont have a picture of my comics shelf on hand but I alphabetized my manga recently
Only major Yea Forums purchase ive made was ultimate spiderman compendium 1. The next one I do probably wont be until gwenpool compendium
Yep
Nevermind I found one
>Only major Yea Forums purchase ive made
*recently.
If only it was the ass frame.
>the pervert
Damn. I'm really slacking, aren't I?
Its awful. The worst thing on my shelf.
Go buy The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck right now, then.
I think you guys might be gay
Why?
Gay people exist, grow the fuck up user
Why yes, my hobby is looking at drawings of muscular men in spandex. How could you tell?
thanks user had a blast/entertaining trip and feeling more pretty than gf for onces was a nice change of pace. who knew being not black in africa would get me so much attention.
>gwenpool compendium
i have never touch gwenpool but love deadpool mainly joe kellys run but is she a good charater user? also nice shelf you weeb but really nice shelf makes me want to get more manga
very nice user but should have done like user said. should have gave her the Scarlett Johansson treatment
hey everyones a little bit gay look at curt Russel or Idris elba maybe even Henry Cavill and tell me those arent beautiful men
>my neighbor seki
how did this premise get so many volumes?
Not gay, just a virgin which is basically the same thing I guess
>Not gay, just a virgin
same bro. its not a nice feel
If you've spent any time on Yea Forums you've probably seen Dorkin's work. He really goodbye and an underrated artist.
Ware is fantastic and probably one of the best comic creators alive today.
What do I win
Nah you are
Your virginity back
Not much from this chart, and I will likely not be grabbing any more aside from possibly some Cerebus and Kirby. Maybe Tintin and some Barks.
Lemire is not worth owning, IMO.
I may get rid of The Incal and Hellboy.
Jimmy Corrigan is great. The second half really sold me.
Loved the OVA never read the book
>Kirby
>No FF or Thor
This is a weak Kirby square and the lack of 2001 reprints makes the addition of that an odd choice
Gentlemen, I bring you Bingo 2.0.
Tried to maximize bingo potential by cutting single title authors, sorry Yojimbo. Also cut the coomer freebie so it works better as a recc image.
Any tweaks you'd like to see?
somehow did worse
I'm absolutely seething over those Creepy books.
tfw no bingo
Okay, what's the censored stuff?
Did you forget that you had porn DVDs on your shelf or something?
For me, it's just slowly builds up.
I normally just get them as gifts and then jump at big sales.
Kingdom Hearts.
Wow, you fucked me even harder.
it's flash season 1 and the bourne trilogy blu rays. it was a different time. i just couldn't be bothered doing a second pic but I'll do that next time.
last min package just showed up didnt even know ups delivered on Sunday.
What do I win this time
Is the material in that second volume any good?
yes and no the stories are just random weird tales ala golden age material. things like batman and superman being women, dif dimension vers attacking them, swamping bodies really campy stuff thats fun but no over arching story
I haven't done very well but there's lots of good recommendations on here, thanks
well well well i spoke to soon amazon coming in at 6pm with a qt delivery women to leave this just one more for the coomer section
meh
>Also cut the coomer
you fucking heathen
I know I’m basically necrobumping, but any shelf recs for someone living in an apartment? To clarify, I mean literal shelves and not books. Also, what Flash run should I start with, Waid or Johns?
yes, I'm a cheeky fuck
Yeah. I'm half way through the book and it may be my favorite from Dorkin. I just have Bill and Ted as well as Beast of Burden before I know.
pro wrestling fan that reads cape books is a move of the ultimates.
Agree with Dorkin. Disagree with Ware but too each their own.
CAWDYS BACK BAYBIE
I still have a long way to go.
Start with Waid since his run comes first.
Start with the trade "Savage Velocity" that they put out a year ago. Baron's only on it for less than a year, but then William Messner Loebs wrote it for the next four years. If you want to legally stream it, all of it is on DCU.
Waid followed WML, then Morrison/Millar, then Waid, then Johns.
Kalax are pretty good because they're evenly spaced and they're the perfect size for absolute/library editions. The downside is that it might leave gaps or split up matching spines.
Is Marvel losing the Conan license or something? They seem to be pumping those out pretty damn fast. I see 20 of them between released and scheduled. How many more can they make?
It's just a super chill series, I've been reading it before bed and it's so comfy. A sequel series actually started not too long ago as well where they're married with a kid and it's just as nice
You are all beautiful people, thank you.
The owners of the IP did change a few months back. When their new comics were delayed and/or cancelled, people started panicking, but Savage Avengers has been relaunched.
no problem
You're welcome friend
If you have an IKEA near you, then get a KALAX, FINNBY or BILLY. Everyone's obsessing over KALAX here but they are static, meaning you can't change the height of the shelf pieces so if you have any oversized books (above Absolute size), then they won't fit. Also spines that are supposed to form a big image (like that Judge Dredd collection that was posted somewhere further up) then those thick separation walls of a KALAX fuck with that hard.
FINNBY isn't very deep, but incredibly low-priced compared to both KALAX and BILLY.
A BILLY is basically the premium product out of the three, a bit more expensive but the shelves are very deep and they are high enough to place anything in it.
honestly i would say for him to get kalax and if he has bigger books than absolutes you can also get this in pic. idk the name of it but they are always next to the kalax and are cheap
I have never seen that one before, is that even an IKEA one?
Billy was the worst bookshelf I ever had. Kallax is the superior choice.
yeah its called a kalax aswell heres the link

Been a while since I posted
New pickups
oh hey user how you been i see youve kept up with all the new releases. its crazy how much canon there is they look great all together but man is that a lot
Been busy, just got back from a 4 month overseas business trip so flush with cash. It certainly helps with all these Omni releases being dumped on us.
oh dam user 4months where did you go i just came back my self from a one month african trip.
South America rotation Mexico, Columbia, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Honduras, Peru and El Salvador.
dam boy you got around did you at least hit up some comic/book shops or whores
Comic stores yes, but I’m married with kids. My days of laying pipe are over.
i hear ya i went with the gf to see her missionary brother so i couldnt destroy some poor girls life down there? up there? other side of the planet. sadly they didnt have book shops were i was and found the thought of me spending thousands of dollars in funny books wastefull and unthinkable.
>cringe because its to messy
here's a better pic of the top shelf I took a while ago. Not pictured:
Parasyte all volumes
Parasyte Neo F&M
Dragon ball box set (just kid goku no Z aka part 1)
All you need is kill manga

its an old pic I found. the shelf is still messy currently.
>you should really frame that secret wars floopie user its cost a pretty penny
I'm working on it
>tfw some autistic chink turned GT into a manga that is basically panel by panel of each episode
love this, Alpha, Beowulf, Carthago, cosmic marvel, TMNT
Really hoping Beta actually gets published in the US.
I'm always close but no cigar
Figured this was the best place to ask since people around here actually read stuff. Read Under the Hood recently and was surprised by how homicidal Freeze was. It's kind of jarring since I was under the impression that after Heart of Ice he became more like that in the comics.
Did something happen in universe to make Freeze the type to just spontaneously kill somebody around him or is that just what his postBTAS comics characterization was actually like?
It’s up to the writer he was more sane after btas aired but much like bane at first being Batman’s intellectual equal now he is just a dumb brute in modern stuff
His characterization has been all over the place in recent years. How he is portrayed depends pretty heavily on who is writing him. The nu52 being a prime example of how fucked some writers make him.
Never ever because who would buy that? It doesn't have Batman in it
3 bingos. Great Job user
Holy shit it's a bingo!
Bump
If I wanted to get into reading/buy The Phantom anyone got any advice on where to start? I've always liked the general myths of him but never sat down to read it properly. Any collections I can see are super expensive. Ironically, I'm in Australia where apparently we're one of the only places in the world to get new stuff in English regularly.
dragonball is the only thing on that shelf thats not total garbage
furrfaggotry
feels like there's missing a lot and a lot of stuff that's not /shelf/-core.
Ebay seller asking for my phone number and e-mail in case he needs them to ship. Is this normal?
>Preacher
>TDKR
>Sandman
Dorohedoro
>Miller Daredevil
>Berserk
There's more good than bad on that shelf
When someone asks your number it means they want to date you, kyaa~
No. Have been using ebay since 2018 and nobody ever asked for a number. Would only give him your email.
It is weird cause they can easily message you through eBay. I'd probably give him my spam email and nothing else. I'm also paranoid
Bump
>missing a lot
Like what?
>a lot of stuff that's not /shelf/-core
Like what?
you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone with the Robert Crumb or Will Eisner essentials that are listed there. Pogo, Garfield, Boondocks. Where are they? Milk and Cheese, Dork!, Slaine, Requiem: Vampire Knight, Grimjack, Teknophage, the Kerascoet stuff and Bowie pretty rare as well. all of this suggests that it is in a lot of collections, but it really isn't.
I’m more mad that they don’t have Yea Forumss fav web/comic strip artist Ronny from whoomp man himself would come into shelf threads from time to time
I've got Crumb! I'm special! Got one volume of Slaine, one of Requiem (it's a Panini 2-in-1 volume so technically 2) and pretty much all of Grimjack, old and new!
I'm special!
>1 guy has this so that means this is shelf core
got it
I just wanted to gloat and bask in the limelight.
I always read the bingo card as shelf essential creators, and then listing their most popular or well known works. Not necessarily that those works in particular are /shelf/core.
Redpill me on Astro City, should I get the new collections they're putting out?
Kek
>Teknophage
I'm confused as to why that one is for Gaiman and not his more famous works like Graveyard book, or hell even his Dark Horse books like Harlequinn Romance or Snow, Glass, Apples.
Slaine and Kerascoet is pretty popular here though
Yes Kurt busiek is top tier and Astro City is easily his best work
He didn't even write it if I recall correctly
He did, but I guess they were originally written as prose and then adapted by PCR, John Bolton and Colleen Doran respectively. Still are all fantastic comics.
Rick Veitch wrote Teknophage. Neil Gaiman's name on the title was just marketing.
Yeah I think that's the way it's meant to be interpreted but it is a bit misleading because not everything is popular here.
What collection is coming out?
first 19 issues in softcover from image
The first one came out last week.
19 issues for 30 books. It's a great deal
There's a collection which collects 19 issues
