Post philosophers that were actually brainlets hacks I'll star pic very related
Post philosophers that were actually brainlets hacks I'll star pic very related
Pic related was dumber.
The only good philosophers were Plato, Bruno, Montaigne, Leopardi, Valery.
Prove me wrong.
(Protip: you can't)
>inb4 ''bet he likes Jordan Peterson''
No, that's another hack too.
Continental philosophy is nearly all charlatanism. They use long words, long paragraphs, neologisms and complex syntactical constructions, and, therefore, they are naturally hard to understand. However, being hard to understand doesn't mean you have anything to offer, and the opposite also holds true: Crick and Watson's paper on DNA is pretty easy to get, in my view, and, even though it uses technical terms, it's so short that any child could apprehend its contents, and yet it offers a LOT more than anything Marx wrote.
Remember that theology (or Muslim theology, if you're a Christina), astrology and alchemy can be even harder to comprehend and yet they offer very little knowledge, if any.
No, I am not a STEMfag. I am a Law student who writes poetry and is interested in Medieval Italian and Renaissance Portuguese lit.
You forgot Garfield my friend
>They use long words, long paragraphs, neologisms and complex syntactical constructions
Heidegger uses nearly grug-tier disconnected sentences, and his neologisms are all borrowed from simple, sensible words in German and are only made complex by translation.
Based
Your syntax indicates to me that you are a sub-120 IQ (and therefore sub-human) tryhard who cannot comprehend the works you inveigh against.
>However, being hard to understand doesn't mean you have anything to offer, and the opposite also holds true:
*proceeds to state something that is not an opposite*
>and yet it offers a LOT more than anything Marx wrote.
I don't understand what a paper on biology has to do with socioeconomic theory. Marx is arguably one of the most influential thinkers of all time, his ideas still hold political relevance today. Even thinkers who disagree with him nevertheless have to respond to his criticisms. I'm sorry you couldn't comprehend it, user; maybe start with the Greeks.
Being relevant to dumb fucks doesn't mean you were smart
Could you please give a substantive critique of Marx's analysis of capitalism without making the telling argument that 'it's hard to understand'?
Muh labour theory of value
Muh pseudo scientific faith
Muh slave morality ressentment
imagine being this stupid
You think the poor have no right to resent their capitalist overlords?
>rights
I completely agree.
As someone interested in math, it drives me insane to hear people respect these figures who masquerade their ideas in some complicated mess of words. Pretty much all philosophy is masturbation that only gets popular after the artist is dead. Yes. Artist. These people shit words onto a page that pseuds read and judge based on how clever it makes them feel. That is art by definition.
Like, what is better math? For some reason, literature people are drawn to bullshit masturbation and art over pragmatic truth
>(1÷3 - 25^(1÷2) + 6÷9)(i^2) = 4
>2 + 2 = 4
Math IS art, STEfag. The simplicity one encounters in math is made beautiful only by the scrupulous groundwork one has to have done in order to make it make any sense. Take Stokes' theorem for example; it is a beautifully simple statement, but to give it meaning you have to first construct various mathematical objects such as manifolds with boundary, differential forms, the exterior derivative and integration of differential forms, and then make them actually relate to other things (e.g. gradient, curl and divergence) so that you can then look back and marvel at how simple a foundation all those things emerge from.
Butterfly will post today and every day brings something new.
What was supposed to be my takeaway from yesterday? You need me to buy Lincoln by Gore Vidal so we have some stuff in common? Was that really a good book? I was looking for it today
Not everything is quantifiable, user. You can't express most philosophical concepts in mathematical terms.
Analytic fags off my board reeeeeeeeee
Based, but The Manifesto is 50 pages and simple to read.
>Medieval Italian and Renaissance Portuguese lit.
lmao @ your life mutt
while you're studying medieval building I'm literally sitting at the café just across la cathédrale de chartres with two delicious succubi
continental philosophy always win in the end because it's substantial and not written by incels
>buying into the analytic/continental divide
It's all philosophy. Differences in argumentation and method of reaching conclusions are standard form.
Who are good continentals?
t. leftypol jew who should be shot
