All The Pretty Horses is the most romantic of McCarthy's novels. The best of the trilogy is The Crossing.
Overall, it's very much a trilogy worth reading if you can stand his lack of punctuation.

No, because the character doesn't freak out about becoming a bug and describe it like some kind of body horror. He just wakes up like a bug one day and says to himself "Welp, I guess I'm a bug now. Mom's gonna freak!" Sure he doesn't like how it inconveniences him but he does treat it like some really mundane situation. Also its an allegory, brainlet.
