He writes about the peregrine falcon in a beautiful way.

The introduction was better than the actual narrative. Fantastic though, really fantastic. Reminded me a great deal of Robinson Jeffers.
Also, I don't necessarily think it's obscure—it's even got a soundtrack

you like tarot user?

I'm pretty sure it's still well known in France.

The ‘wrong way penguin movie’ guy is a big fan of this book

He is, yes.

It’s just a bird watcher’s journal
But some amazing prose and some weird misanthropic rants and desperate desire to warg with the falcon

I put the peregrine on my 700+ book "to read" list some years ago after I saw it on Yea Forums. Maybe that was you, user, and in that case thanks

Guy Goffette; With the summer around your neck. I read it in Bulgarian so idk if it's even translated in english. It's fucking great. It's like Lolita, but about a boy from his point of view and is much more psychological, which I think is one of the bigger drawbacks of Lolita.

ok going to read it

This book is actuallygenious and has nothing to do with Hitler. Its from the 19th century.

My favorite book is Riddley Walker and I think it should get a little more love on Yea Forums. I think it would appeal to all of the following:

>Joyce fags
>Canticle for Leibowitz fags
>Tolkien fags
>Cormac McCarthy fags
among others

The language is not actually that hard to get through if you just kind read it phonetically (the book will probably not appeal to anti-subvocalization fags). It's such an incredible matrix of allusions, puns and misprisions, but at the same time it is just a great adventure story. It's also hilariously funny and crushingly sad by turns. It made me laugh and cry. If you haven't read it, do yourself a fucking favor.

Trubba not

>Hoban was born in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, just outside Philadelphia, to Jewish immigrants from Ostrog (now in Ukraine).

>Kazantzakis

Reminiscent of GM Hopkins.

It won the U.S. National Book Award, but I rarely see it or Percy's other works mentioned on lit. It's worth the attention.

Eating Stone by Ellen Melloy is great if you're into stuff like this

This one sounds fun. Is it sort of like a picaresque set in the preppy world?

Go on...

Shakespeare does it all the time and he is a genius

What's the problem with people who only want bone-dry, newspaper-style prose?

>it is by will alone I set my mind in motion
>it is by the juice of sapho the thoughts acquire speed
>the lips acquire stains
>the stains become a warning

the original onion man (no filter)

What's wrong with it?

My gf is reading this at the moment
I told her it's written by a Jew but she just rolled her eyes at me

Probably because of how much of a retard you sounded like. The first line the introduction says he's a jew.

I've been meaning to read this for so long now. Thanks for reminding me to pick it up.
